If you write him on a Monday he won't respond until Friday and vaguely at that. He was so hard to contact. He made the preparation process very difficult and added more stress. When we had a one on one in person, this man showed no interest while presenting the hall. He seemed like he had better things to do. No politeness, no smiling whatsoever, no kindness. Rushed us through the layout options, we emailed him two weeks before the wedding the finalized layout and he didn't respond until the night before the wedding. After telling us he would work with us due to the time he still didn't have the right set up on the day of. My husband fixed it the day of. Terrible customer service on his part. We had a slideshow, requested his assistance and never returned with the wire for the slideshow to play on the projector. You shouldn't be working for a community center if you're not helpful to your community. Rude. Disgustingly distasteful with your communication. The space itself earned the two stars, that guy Matthew ruined my wedding prep. Super annoying. I wouldn't treat people that way.

I calmly told her that "If you criticize my clean up, you have to clean it for me." My polite way to ask her to mind her own business. She went berserk and told me off to the studio guy E, accusing me of being rude while she was the one who crossed my boundary. Being a poor mediator, the guy sided with her without investigating. That was because he spied on my clean up in the past too, which was uncool! It made me uneased. I felt picked on. His behavior of one-sidedly consoling the bully, instead of remaining neutral was off putting. There's a constitutional right of "freedom of movement " that no one shall obstruct your free choice. I was glad I stood up for myself. Clay, no matter how careful you are with, will be inevitably left a few traces in the sink, and it is not a big deal. Everyone does it and everyone has his/her way of cleaning. No need to nitpick and be pathetic. To be bullied and snitched by someone who thinks she has the right to tell others what to do is disheartening. Pottery making shall be a peaceful time to create without being disturbed. To instruct people what to do as if acting as a social warrior puts a damper on freedom and creativity. They should put a sign next to the sink, that reads, "Please mind your own business when cleaning, as people like to be left alone." The entire community center is funded by tax payers' dollars, government-operated meaning it's run differently than privately-owned ones, and is more authoritarian in my opinion. As a paying customer, I'd like to access to my creative outlet without being disturbed yet my experience was tarnished by control freak and a worker who doesn't know how to be fair. I don't meddle with other's business and others should not meddle with mine. I also found some of their instructors controlling. They need to respect personal autonomy. Clean up is a very personal thing. If everyone does exactly the same thing, they can move to North Korea. It was a dissapointing experience. Move on to other options for my creative pursuit.

Hillview Community Center, and Hillview Park (both listed at the same address 97 Hillview Avenue)…read moreoffers many recreational and community programs for Los Altans, mainly kids and youth. These include music and dancing courses, art classes, fitness, and cooking. The Los Altos senior program is also hosted here. I walk these grounds almost every day. If your thing is walking, it's close to downtown, you just have to cross the San Antonio Rd. Best way is to cross at the intersection where Enchanté Boutique Hotel now stands. Or you can park by the library, and walk around to see it all. I have reviews for many of the individual listings described below. This complex is an 8.3 acre site, which consists of the following facilities surrounding the Los Altos library: - The administrative offices of the Recreation & Community Services Department - Little League baseball diamond - The "Whistlestop" children's playground near it - The parcourse exercise equipment - A soccer field that is, essentially, the Hillview Park (please see a separate review) - Los Altos History Museum - Gilbert Smith History House - Bus Barn Theater, or Los Altos Stage Company There are multiple facilities that are available for rentals, like celebrations, social gatherings, and kids birthdays: two bocce ball courts, a multi-purpose room with kitchen, and several classrooms and meeting rooms. These are mostly older facilities, and at the same time, they exude a certain old country charm and are full of history.

It's like they read my mind, because it's currently closed so that they can renovate the place!! I'm excited to see how these will improve the site and its facilities for the local community, and hope to update my review to a more positive one once the work is complete

You can…read morefind these clusters easily with google maps by looking for neighborhoods with flat white roofs. Like other Eichlers, the building is abnormally and deceptively low to the earth with a wide sturdy footprint. The post and beam construction allows for larger windows and long-lasting durability. On closer approach you begin to notice a masterclass in natural, intimate lighting. You cannot go into the Montessori space unless your child is attending but if you ever have a chance to go into and Eichler you will be shocked by how well lit the inside is and how different natural light gradients make the space feel large, light, and comforting. I took a picture of an empty room and you can see how awesome the natural lighting is. The pool has a newer clubhouse designed in 2018 that complements the old community center in design. It has more modern bathrooms and changing facilities. The pool has a membership fee but it is clean and well maintained. You can't access the interior publicly so not worth coming unless you are a architecture diehard.

We've been looking for a new swimming option, so I recently came by to check out Greenmeadow. In short it's a quaint neighborhood pool setup -- midday Saturday there were a few lanes blocked off for the lap swimmers while probably 2/3 of the pool was being used for kid and family play. There was a lifeguard on duty, but otherwise the feel was only a half-step more professional than a friend's backyard pool party. So that might sound like an insult to some, but the quiet familiar atmosphere actually holds a lot of appeal for me at this point (in contrast to say the Pacific Athletic Club, Decathalon Club, or other industrial-grade places we've been swimming at for the past few years). Associate membership runs $925 per family for the March-October season, so not insignificant, but reasonable if you're going to swim a lot. They are currently running a wait list of approximately one year. I haven't decided yet whether or not to throw our name on the list, but it's a pretty compelling option.
