I rarely write reviews, especially negative ones, but I've given this several days' thought and…read moredecided I needed to share my experience with Snelling in Tyler. I applied for a job advertised by Snelling on a job board, and almost immediately received a call from Brooke: based on my résumé, they wanted to meet with me. Yay! She scheduled me for an interview the next morning and told me I'd have to do some assessments. Cool. I called back a couple hours later to let her know that I'm legally blind, and although the assessments shouldn't be a problem I wanted to make sure they were running a relatively current version of Windows that had magnification. She weren't sure, but said they'd accommodate me regardless. I went in the next morning and met with Brooke. Things started off great; we chatted about this and that, my Master's degrees and my previous work experience, where in most cases I'd earned pretty significant promotions. We talked about my work at East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, which hires blind and visually impaired folks like me. Then, a few minutes later, she asked if I would be willing to work at the Lighthouse again. I said something to the effect that I'd be up for it if the job matched my capabilities. She then proceeded to tell me that she thought I'd be more comfortable there, since they could already accommodate me. At the time I didn't think much of it, but almost immediately after I left it struck me how inappropriate this statement was. Employers are required to provide reasonable accommodation, and Snelling's mission should be to match me with a job that's a good fit for me, regardless of disability. I understand where the hesitation comes from, but the wording and dismissive tone of the comment really was wrong. By contrast, I had a great experience at Express Staffing where I was simply asked "what kind of accommodations do you need?" Big difference. I wasn't offered the assessments Brooke mentioned the day before, for some reason. Maybe because they didn't want to deal with the possibility that they might have to accommodate me. Brooke also promised a follow-up e-mail with a questionnaire for my references to fill out. We met on Friday. Today is Wednesday and I still haven't received that e-mail. So I've gotten a consistent message that they're not interested in helping me. Which is usually fine; rejection is a part of the job application process. But I get the sense that this is directly related to my blindness, and that's NOT okay. I give two stars because Brooke was, overall, very friendly and open. For other candidates who fit the status quo she might be awesome. There may also be other employees at the Snelling Tyler office with a little more tact and sensitivity.

I had the pleasure of working with Morgan at this location, and I'm really happy with the outcome…read more He was very personable, and I could be pretty frank with him when it came to what I was looking for and why I was wanting to make a change in my career path. He was almost always pretty timely to respond to my emails, and he was even kind enough to work with me outside of my 8-5 work day. That was a huge help. After I completed the assessments it felt as if the interviews he had set up for me were all happening so fast! I liked that I had multiple opportunities thanks to his help. I'm working for a different company now, and I am so happy with the change. No regrets at all. I highly recommend Morgan to help you make a move!
