Expresso Branson was the best drive thru coffee experience I've had. The staff were SUPER friendly and the coffee (Americano for me, Oat Milk Cappuccino for my wife) was excellent. We ordered muffins (1 pumpkin, 1 apple) and they were delicious and served warm. The next day we went back for just plain old drip coffee and it was great too! I'm clearly not a coffee drinker but I might be hooked if all lattes were like that. I also had the avocado toast which is simple but the price can't be beat. My boyfriend always complains when I order avocado toast, but not when I ordered it here. It is more like thin guacamole so that's probably why it's so cheap. I've said it before, but there are few things I love more than the convenience of drive-thru coffee, so upon seeing such a place in off-season Branson I decided to grab a cup. The service was friendly, I liked being able to see my barista on the screen. The menu offered some unique syrup options sure to appeal to any millennial, and I went with a Summer-In-A-Cup latte (white chocolate, coconut, and lavender). While my coffee was good, it wasn't "I need more of this" quality. I personally order a latte for the foam, of which there was none on this particular cup. I also couldn't pick up more than the super sweet lavender flavor--which was still good, just kind of a one-note cup. A+ for service and creativity! But more of a C on quality and flavor. I finally had the chance to stop today. Unfortunately, this didn't live up to my hopes. The building's presentation is solidly modern (it's made from a couple of recycled and cleanly-painted shipping containers). After being slightly confused by the set-up (it's really a drive-through-only operation, although there's a walk-up window on the south side), I was handed a menu. The young cashier and his coworker barista were both friendly and happy. The menu had lots of flavored drink options available, but I ordered a small latte (which comes with two shots), as that's my bellwether drink. (My experience has been that places that offer lots of flavors tend not to do the underlying coffee too well.) After I ordered, I looked inside and saw that the espresso press was simply a fully-automated push-button affair. Strike two: while I'm sure a well-programmed automatic machine filled with craft products might be able to produce a delicious output, I've never experienced it. Still, I remained cautiously hopeful it'd be decent. Unfortunately, it wasn't. It was definitely airline-lounge-espresso-machine quality (like the Douwe Egberts machines in the Delta Sky Clubs), if not even bordering on Starbucks (and no, that's not a good thing--there's a reason it's called Charbucks). It was bitter and almost hard to drink. I was really hoping for a great third-wave coffee shop in Branson that's open Sundays. Unfortunately, this isn't it. I'll be sticking with Vintage Paris over in Hollister, even though their location is less convenient and their hours are often frustrating for me (there's literally nowhere in Branson to get good coffee on Sunday). read more
