My mother is currently at the Pioneer Manor and we've had nothing but problems since she was…read moreadmitted. My mother had a stroke which left her unable to talk. It's the worst place for people who have no voice. I would avoid that nursing home at all costs. We are in the process of having her transferred to another facility and it can't happen soon enough. Management needs a complete overhaul. I have never heard them actually admit to wrongdoing. It's always we'll look into it and find out what happened. They will never actually call or email their findings. They just try to appease you in hopes that the problem goes away or magically disappears. They are always short staffed and the residents end up paying the price. If short staffing is a continual problem, shouldn't it be addressed and corrected. They shouldn't take in more residents than they can properly care for. Being a PSW (personal support worker) is hard work and I commend the majority of them for doing what they do and for giving residents the care that they deserve and need. They can't do their jobs properly if the staffing levels aren't appropriate. From an outsiders perspective, the good PSW's are undervalued and told not to get close to the residents. Wouldn't you want someone who is actually permitted and encouraged to take an interest in your loved ones to be the ones providing their care? Well at the Pioneer Manor, getting to know the residents and their families is frowned upon and there are consequences for doing so. Since the Pioneer Manor is owned and operated by the city of Sudbury and funded by our tax dollars there should be much more oversight than there seems to be. Our tax dollars not at work.

These people are incompetent, negligent and useless. They miss visits, and don't bother to call or…read moreto make alternate arrangements, which puts seriously ill clients at risk. The people in the office do not communicate information, or do what they say they're going to do (ie. PSWs were sent to my grandmother's place without being told what to do, or even how to get into the house; it also took two months for Bayshore to change the contact number they had on file so that they were calling my mother instead of my 94 year old, Italian-speaking grandmother). Most recently, we needed a nurse to put an IV in, because my grandmother had blood poisoning. We were told no nurses were available (not even the single on-call nurse, who was out of town and, therefore, not on-call) and they didn't know when they'd find one for us. My mother has been doing their job for them, by informing PSWs of their duties (because Bayshore can't be trusted), calling my grandmother every morning to make sure someone has come to take care of her (again, because Bayshore can't be trusted) and picking up the slack when nobody shows up. This organization is going to kill someone. I hope it's nobody you know.
