The food is not prepared and cooked by a certified chef or a red seal chef. In fact, the cook does not even have his food handler's course. I tried to get him to acquire his certification, but he refused.
I know the food is not labelled and dated when stored and no hair nets are worn in the kitchen. They do not practice proper hand washing either. I witnessed this first hand because I worked there for a 3 months.
They have untrained volunteers with severe physical and psychological disabilities helping in the kitchen who do not practice proper hygiene. The staff, board and members who self identify as having severe to moderate physical and psychological disabilities are okay with the free food, but I do not recommend the place to anyone else.
You will very likely get very ill if you eat there. Maybe not the first time, but you will if you can't afford to buy yourself a real decent meal somewhere else. Even the fast food joints are safer because they are trained and supervised in handling food. read more
