My spouse and I saw this brand new location of Extra Space Storage near our gym and next door to the Christhus St. Vincent Sports Medicine Therapy Center on Rodeo Park Drive East in Santa Fe. Being in the process of moving from hot humid Houston to beautiful Santa Fe, but unsure of the areas, we needed to find a clean, safe and secure self storage facility that we could trust for our belongings while we finish closing on our Santa Fe home. We contacted Bill Fenstermaker, the store manager of Extra Space Storage Rodeo Park Drive East. Bill, along with his Assistant Store Manager, Carolina Montoya, made us feel welcome and accommodated as they explained how they could help us, offered us money saving specials, and were friendly, caring and efficient to help ease the burden of an always expensive, time consuming, and many times frustrating moving process. The storage facility is SUPER CLEAN, brightly lit, climate controlled, energy environmentally friendly, safe and secure. A really great feature are the enclosed and secure indoor vehicle parking bays with automatic glass doors, that allows customers to safely move and retrieve items out of the wind and weather. We have used this storage space for several years and love it. The place is always clean and things are always in good working order. The carts to help you move things are always in the right spot. The office is run extremely well. We interact with Dee at this location and she is amazing! Her customer service is top notch! I highly recommend this spot because of Dee and the team!! This place is air conditioned and fully secure so you don't need to worry about your locker getting broken into. The monthly rates are reasonable and they run online specials so you can save a few bucks there. Bring along some breadcrumbs to help you find your way around the building because it's a damn maze in there. I moved to Santa Fe exactly 1 year ago and rented a unit at the Vegas Verdes location. I have no storage to speak of where I live so I need a storage unit for the long haul. Here are the upsides: Clean, safe, great and courteous office staff, temperature controlled, clean restroom on the premises. The downside: They have raised my rates TWICE in one year. They say the increases are based on market rates because it is a rental and therefore considered real estate. Both times I got the increase notice, I was able to negotiate it down to some degree, but this still seems so wrong and is like bait and switch. Starting in June I will be paying $79 more per month than I was a year ago. That is a 34% increase over my initial rate. Historically rent increases in Santa Fe for housing rentals average around 5% (I did the research) and landlords only increase rents once a year, so if they're basing this on "market rate", they are way out of line and not being honest and transparent about their reasons for the increases. read more

Our Business has 4 Units at this location and it is ideal for frequently moving furniture in and out. The manager Dee has been acutely aware of our growing business needs and is very professional helping us with available units. We feel safe at this location coming and going at all hours. I have been there for 2 years and the door that is closest to my unit has been broken for half that time. Management says they are working on it buy there has been no visible progress. Just like any typical storage unit they keep increasing my rate. read more

Damn these guys ares pros. The facility is very clean, very accessible, modern, safe... all the the things you want in a rental unit. The price I paid was actually lower than advertised - I'll be needing the unit for at least 6 months - so that was a pleasant surprise. Bill, the manager, is such a friendly dude. Had the keys to my unit in no time, all the while chatting him up about COVID, life, sports, Madrid..... Friendly friendly. I very much enjoyed my experience with Bill and the unit is doing exactly what I need it to do. Very happy. It was so easy to get setup online! Once the unit was rented, I received a call from John, to answer any questions. I went over right away to load the unit and John was able to direct us where to park for our unit location. The facilities are sparkling clean and exactly what we needed. The facility itself is worth 5 stars, clean, secure and modern. What drops it to 1 star is the fact they lure you in with a reasonable price and then raise the rent every six months. My rent has gone up twice in this last, pandemic year. They claim it is the market value but in reality it is pure greed. There is absolutely no reason to raise the rent especially during the current hardship from the pandemic. What is worse is they don't tell you this going in. You go through all the hard work and expense of moving your belongings into what you believe is a good, safe facility with decent business practices but then they force you out with their price gouging practices. This is a horrible business practice and I will not bow to their corporate greed. I recommend staying away from this company. read more

The storage unit is clean, nice, etc. The parking area garage doors don't always close by themselves, but that's a minor inconvenience. The thing to be aware of is they will raise your rental fees after 4 months. Mine went from $102 to $138. They said they notified me, but I didn't receive notice. Raising the rate by over 35% without notice is not what I expected. And they said they will raise rates going forward -- it's standard. read more
