Is very disheartening to be lured in with discounts just to be price gouge every 4 to 6 months with $15 to $30 increases to your account. I went from a mid $30 unit to just receiving a postcard trying to take it up to low $100 unit. I see I share the same testimonials as many others. Under the language of, market value and real estate prices. I remember when somebody tore down the garage door, it took them a mighty long time to fix that. That should have been the next day fix with the price increases on all the units. Now, before I'm ask to call in and speak to someone know this, I've called in and spoke someone a few times and they said they left messages for district-management. and I received some price breaks from Management saved me $5 maybe $10 but at the sacrifice of losing the insurance coverage to my unit. I am writing this review after renting a storage unit for the last 6 months. I first want to precedent that when I started my relationship with this facility, the man who moved me in was the friendliest and most helpful person. He fixed my door so it would slide better and provided an extensive tour. During move-in and move-out, one of the garage doors was broken, which was a significant inconvenience because it made it difficult to load the car from the most accessible access point. I had to carry heavy items through a tight space between the outside wall and fence, which ended up scratching some of my furniture. Second, my rent was increased by $30 without a direct notification. When I called customer service about this, they stated they notified me by mail that my rent was increasing. This was extremely annoying because the whole purpose of renting a storage unit was because I was moving and then traveling for the next 3 months. Therefore, I did not have a permanent address that I had regular access to. They had my phone number and email, which they communicated with me regularly. It felt very scammy that they "notified" me through the most likely form of communication that I would miss. Lastly, as I was closing my account, I tried to return my lock that they provided to me in the beginning. I was then informed that the lock is now mine, and no refunds exist. However, I explicitly remember the man who helped me move in stated that the lock was refundable and I could return it at the end of my time. Overall, working with this facility was frustrating. Rising Rents /Change in Managment I have been a long term renter of on of the larger units at ESS on Forest Park Ave and have previously praised management. Unfortunately, similar to some other posts, I received notification that my rent will increase by 20% this month.....no doubt victim to an automated yielding program. Since they took over Life Storage, it seems that they have become more aggressive on pricing. Another major disappointment is that the manager Keith has left the company. He was certainly an anchor for the brand and will be hard to replace. Will consider alternative options given current situation. read more

Rats here. Enough said. As a college student, it really sucks to come back from the summer and have poop/urine all over my mattress foam, clothes and duvet. Had to throw away almost all of my stuff along with tons of sentimental belongings because of the feces. Had the insurance but was told it would take around 2 months to get reimbursed. Might as well just left my stuff outside if I was going to end up throwing away all of it anyway. I'm not sure what I paid them for. Just leaving my stuff in the dumpster would have saved me from being exposed to disease riddled rat feces and urine. Reached to customer service, was told everyday that someone would reach out to me within 24 hours. It's been 2 weeks. They could have just flat out said no to giving a refund instead of stringing me along. College students, SLU, STLCOP, WashU beware Finally spoke to the district manager, Brandon, yelled at me asking how I got his number problems got the poor guy trying to help me in trouble. Yeah. They are horrible and sketchy. They have several in the local area. I'm at named three different names. If that wasn't sketchy enough I got a locker from them paid four months in advance. Then the only nice thing I have to say about them is the lady right here in Clarksville she was very always polite, but the company and I guess the manager as a whole is shady and shaky, she had told me. About storage auctions so I did well then I had one in New Albany, Indiana, and they literally gave me the wrong gate key wouldn't answer the phone stole my belongings that I have purchased through a auction then try to cover their tracks by saying I had another auction. I didn't collect when I have an app with all the auction and everything I've ever done on it. Anyone that has been privy to the Wheel o' Yelp or any Yelp table at a recent event knows that I have a LOT of schwag to lug around. Shot glasses, paper fans, tote bags and pounds of Yelpstick. Oh, the Yelpstick... In order to save my relationship (and my sanity!), I rented a storage space a few months back. It's been a lifesaver for sure! However, there are a few issues that I have to let others know about Extra Space if they are considering putting their things into storage here: - There is only 1 elevator at the Forest Park facility. This means only one person at a time can go up to their space (and there are 4 floors worth of units). So if you get there while someone is loading/unloading, you have to wait for that person to finish before you can go up to your unit. - NEVER go here on a Saturday past 10 am or near the end of the month. That's when everyone moves and this place is crawling with people putting their stuff in/getting their stuff out of storage. I make trips here weekly so have learned through trial and error how to work around these little problems. But it can be annoying if you just need to pick up a quick load and end up waiting here for an hour, so consider this your "heads up" read more

Used this location for storage and everything from my dishes, to my washer and dryer was damaged by movers that Extra Space Storage hired...Paid for the insurance but they still said it wasn't on them and it's the moving company that they "HIRED" fault....WTF????? All you people that pay for that insurance....drop it extra money in your pockets....I wouldn't use them again, nor will I recommend anyone to use this company. read more

Great service in a clean and secure location! This location is conveniently located next to two donation facilities (Goodwill and Salvation Army) which is a huge plus for items that are no longer needed! Beware of teaser rates. Rates rise often and by a large percentage. Rent only if you are certain you can be out in 12 weeks.

This place is the cleanest storage facility I've ever seen. Waleed is a really great manager. I feel pretty safe going in here.
