The Kissing Pig Cafe has so many food options, too! Mrs. K. has not had a kolache in years and she's now pescatarian which presents certain challenges. It would be awesome if they had some kolaches with just cheese or were sweet, so while I had one with ham and cheese and one with sausage in cheese, she was at least able to enjoy a strawberry and cream danish as well as the always awesome poppyseed kolache. It's possible that a pecan square was purchased for later consumption, too. The self-serve coffee was great and we enjoyed all of this inside at a comfortable table. And after that, more shopping. So much great stuff to choose from here and very, very clean restrooms. If you're overwhelmed by that massive baked goods counter, just ask for recommendations. They'll get you sorted for sure! But if you want brisket, look out! I've never seen a more miserly portion offered for 13 dollars. I understand that brisket is expensive now. But I still get it at various restaurants and have to say that it was a five dollar sandwich for thirteen bucks. Additionally, the sandwich maker apparently does not know what and order for "moist" brisket means. Mine proved rather dry.

They have a great selection of merchandise if you are into all the branded Buc-ee's cloths, collectibles and anything you can thinks of they have it. They were fantastic!!! We arrived mid-afternoon, and they were out of lemon and chocolate, but there were plenty of other choices. The nice lady at the register even went to check in back to see if there were any more flavors that weren't in the case. The crust on these pies is light and flaky, and there's plenty of filling appropriate to the amount of crust. Note to self...next time, don't try to eat the cherry pie in the car! It was delicious, but a bit messy. If you're visiting Glen Rose, which is definitely worth a visit, be sure to grab a pie, or three, from this place!

Hamburgers are also in the menu. There is a lot of pass-through traffic between Dallas and Houston, so the owner decided to install a lunch counter. In talking with the owner, he admitted to never having been to Fuel City in Dallas to try their tacos. Instead, he brought in a local cook to develop their own menu. The meats - carne asada, barbacoa, pollo, lengua, etc. are all fresh. They also make their own salsas - hot habenero, mild red and mild green - and keep them in a warmer. I ordered the carne asada tacos on corn tortillas (flour is also available). You can watch as the cook dips the tortillas and then fries them up on the grill. They then place a generous amount of meat, onions and cilantro on top. They are served with lime wedges. The steak was seasoned nicely, dripping juices and very tender. At $1.39 each, the tacos are a tasty steal. This place does not have table cloths, silverware or china. Be prepared to sit at a small counter with locals or grab one of the few bench-style tables.
