Pros: NY State Inspection is quick here - done in about 15 to 20 minutes! Bathroom is pretty clean and doesn't require a key or a code. Seems like a lot of people bring their car here for repairs, the parking lot can be pretty full at times. Interaction between Peter and the other employees appear to be respectful and professional. Cons: Higher gas prices than other gas stations in the area, but credit card and cash payments are the same price. It's about 30 cents per gallon higher than paying cash at the Shell on Willets Point Boulevard (where there is about a 10 cents different between credit and cash payments). I'm glad gas isn't 5 bucks per gallon anymore!

Once, I unexpectedly got a couple of flat tires and needed replacing, they got me them the same day and I don't feel like I was over charged. I'm sure if I went to a whole tire center I would have gotten a better deal but I didn't have the opportunity and I don't feel like I was ripped off.

Tonight the traffic was not bad at all, so getting back on to Hillside Ave was super easy. This is not always the case with getting in and out of this station. All of the stations within this block are pretty much the same with the entrance and exiting, this one is a bit dicey because its just in a super bad spot. I have never had any work done at this location so my reviews are totally related to gas prices and convenience.

They showed me the dealer's cost on the dealer's website for an axle - $1,180. They charged me $245. They showed me a photo of the original part and a photo of their part. Same serial numbers, the only difference was a Mercedes stamp on the more expensive one. I was going on vacation while needing a repair. They offered to fix it while I was gone and drive it 20 miles to my house and leave it there for me (ended up not needing to). They'll always give you a ride to and from work or home while fixing your car. I can't recommend them enough.

Last time was for a nail in my tire, they were about $5 more than my usual mechanic shop... and they said they're too busy to accommodate me, and to come the next day. If you are coming here for gas, it's fast. Getting car serviced? Then it'll probably take some time. Staff at the gas station and the shop seem nice.

Took my car here for an inspection last year and was passed without incident. Went again this year…read moreand was told that I needed $800 of work, primarily to replace the front passenger side ball joint along with a few other repairs. I had received a similar estimate from another location where I had taken my car for an oil change a few weeks earlier. I got the work done, and within days, the car began pulling hard to the right, so much so that I needed to drive with the wheel at a 45 degree angle to the left just to keep the car driving straight. In a matter of days, the tread on the tire where I had the ball joint replaced was completely gone where it felt like driving on glass. As it turns out, they didn't not provide an alignment after installing the new ball joint which caused the problem (that I was quoted on and told was necessary with a new ball joint by the second location in their estimate only 10 days earlier). I brought the car back to the shop with bill in hand that indicates their work is guaranteed for 90 days. Their mechanic looks at the car, renders it undrivable and tells me that it will be another $2000+ to repair the damage. I asked how this was possible since they literally just passed me for an inspection and inquired about the guarantee, but was told the damage is completely unrelated to the work that was done at the time of inspection and that I would have to pay full price. So I am supposed to believe that after $800 worth of repairs to the front passenger side tire/ball joint, that completely coincidentally I've incurred another two grand in damages that are entirely unrelated to what was allegedly "fixed" only days earlier which has left my car undrivable? What a bunch of con artists. I'm currently looking into taking them to small claims court. Avoid at all costs unless you want to be scammed.

He always looks out for what is best for you. This is why we are still bringing our cars to Barneys, and still extremely happy with their service. Vito, the manager, is just a great guy. Friendly, no-nonsense, honest. I am happy with the mechanics, and Buddy has been there forever and is just fantastic. Tony the owner is always very friendly. Approaching the 15 year mark of doing business with Barney's Service Station and couldn't be happier. Would never go anywhere else.
