The De Pere Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Pier is aptly named. It's a walking path around a river,…read moreit's a pier, it's a place to spot wildlife. This park is located in downtown De Pere, and consists of paved walking/strolling trails that wind around the Fox River. The riverwalk extends to a pier, where you can look out onto the river and see lots of birds, including pelicans. The pelicans seemed to like hanging out by the rushing dam -- they were catching fish in the river. Humans were catching fish too. There were several people fishing, and one person that I saw caught a huge fish. There's a sign on the pier that tells you what kind of fish live in the river: walleye, sturgeon, carp, perch and others. Apparently, you can kayak in the Fox River, and there's a lock here that takes you down the dam. I didn't get to experience that, but supposedly it's a very cool thing to do here.

Lake Winnebago is a huge lake. Not Lake Michigan huge, of course, but it feels like it as you…read morecannot see the shore on the opposite side lake! And if you are use to cruising around inland lakes, Winnebago will take the cake. Because of its vast size, the wind and consequent waves can be wicked. I recommend that if you are prone to sea-sickness and going out on the water, you need to bring favorite motion sickness medication as a precaution. Winnebago is a shallow lake, so be mindful of your boat prop position. This is a great lake for tubing, water skiing, and fishing. There are multiple parks along the banks. The boat launch located in North Fond Du Lac is awesome with 5 slots and it is easy to get your boat in and out and park for only a few dollars. There is plentiful wildlife and birds to watch. Seeing the pelicans fly over the lake is an amazing experience. Speaking for experience, I don't recommend staying on the water after sunset. It is very, very dark. And extremely difficult to find that inlet that leads to the North Fond Du Lac boat launch.... I've always had fun, memorable experiences the few times I have visited and highly recommend boating on Winnebago in the WI summer. I hope to do some fishing next summer so I can share my experiences in an updated review.

I visited this lovely conservancy area for a quick visit when I was in the Green Bay / De Pere…read morearea. Osprey Point is 80 acres, and it a beautiful place to wander around. But be smarter than me and put on bug spray! I got so many mosquito bites during my short stay. Granted, I visited right after it rained, so all of the little bug were out and looking for fresh blood. Along with mosquitos, I also saw wild turkeys! I was surprised and delighted to see them in the brush, but apparently wild turkeys are common around this area. I've never seen one in the wild, though! So to me, it was kind of cool. There's also an osprey nest on the grounds somewhere, but I never saw it. There are two ponds here, where you can go fishing, if you wish. If you don't wish to fish, you can feed the fish if you have a quarter: There's a fish food dispenser by the pond. Osprey Point is a nice little park to walk around and see some Wisconsin nature. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.

Nice protective wooden fences in danger holes. Cement tee boxes. Garbages on a lot of holes. Benches to rest on many holes. CONS: Muddy on some holes. $5. Don't get disc out on water holes. A great place to visit on a Friday afternoon…read more Not far from downtown Neenah and Appleton are the Heckrodt Wetlands. You get walk through this boggy terrain via numerous elevated wooden paths. The signs were informative and helped you better understand the nature surrounding you. It also has a pretty pond on which you can find many different types of birds.
