I called this place and asked the usual questions- "Do you guys take walk-ins?" "What's the minimum". I spoke with a male named "Ben". I explained to Ben briefly what I wanted and he told me to come in. Once my girlfriend and I were inside I was greeted kindly by an artist on the left side who was already in a session. Ben was on the right side of the shop. I introduced myself and we got to talking. The second I showed Ben a picture of what I wanted he immediately made a grotesque face and seemed uninterested. I explained to Ben that I wanted it behind the ear and going down my neck. He replies "Do you know how big that's gonna be, you know that's gonna be big right?" I already knew that, it's what I wanted. I explained to him again how I wanted it to start behind the ear. Ben got annoyed/aggravated and said, and I quote, "okay let's not, that's behind the ear not your neck let's call it what it is". Ben was extremely unprofessional and from the get-go seemed as if he did not even want to tattoo. I hope the other artists are reading this and if they are- I'd like to apologize to the both of you including your client who was simply wanting to have a good session but I will NOT accept any sort of backlash or disrespect. I've gotten several tattoos and have NEVER had such blatant disrespect nor rudeness. Not cool. I'm currently at another shop and they are HAPPILY tattooing my partner and I. Ben if you're reading this, maybe I caught you on a bad day, but don't take it out on your customers. I pay you cash, you put a needle in my skin. Simple. Bad vibes. Did a walk in last month and for a good chunk of my appointment the dudes were blatantly and loudly talking shit on other (female) customers on the floor. I also had an experience where the artist was very obviously annoyed with me from the get go - I came for a walk in and had a design, but hadn't sketched it out myself, and the artist and I were misunderstanding each other a couple times - obviously a natural part of the process and (validly) frustrating for an artist. BUT no excuse to get so pointedly annoyed and then snap at me. I'm not the artist, and miscommunications/notes/a couple rounds of sketches are a normal part of a custom. It was a memorial tattoo I was getting for my brother who had died the month before, and this made an already hard experience worse. If there's a pattern where your artists are dicks to your walk-ins or collaborative customs, don't offer them? read more

I've been in a few times and Jeremy golden has been the artist I've worked with each time. He's amazing at what he does! This latest appointment was for tattoo of orchids. I told him how big I wanted it to be, and left the creative part up to his discretion. I was not disappointed. The shape of the tattoo is perfect for what I was looking for, and the line work is on point. It came out so beautifully. (Better than I imagined) His aftercare instructions are easy to follow and the bandages he spends you home with are rad. You can still see your art, so you're not tempted to take it off too soon. :P He's professional. The shop is VERY clean. DO NOT GET PIERCED BY JIM! I waited to write my review to see how my piercing would heal and after speaking to some doctors I decided I needed to speak up. I scheduled an appointment to get a double helix piercing three months ago by Jim. He seemed nice, and his reviews were pretty good, but when I went to get the piercings, he reached into a bin of earrings, selected two without even sterilizing them, and pierced my ear twice with the same larger gauge needle while constantly touching other things such as his glasses and iPad. I didn't see anything in sterile packaging except for maybe the needle. I should have honestly gotten up and left as soon as I saw the earrings come out of the bin without being sterilized. It's a miracle that I didn't get a blood-borne disease or a massive infection. My ear hasn't been healing well, and I didn't want to message him because he didn't seem very reputable, so I went to my GP. Even though I had been religiously cleaning my piercing (with antibacterial soap as recommended, which I later learned was a major no-no), the bars in my piercing were too short and I had some large keloids forming. My GP recommended that I see another piercer to have the jewelry exchanged, if not completely removed. Once I saw my go-to pierced in the Bay Area, they were horrified by his cost-saving, uneducated practices that led to my ear being damaged. Do not go to Eye of Jade for piercings because they don't seem to know what they're doing or stick to sanitary, safe practices. I paid around $160 for my piercings and had to pay Jim via personal Venmo, where he asked for me not to say I was paying him for business. Overall it felt very sleazy, and I am incredibly lucky to not have a major illness. DON'T GO TO EYE OF JADE!! read more

Had a very bad experience here a few days ago. I went to get a upper helix piercing exchanged. The guy was very rude and sarcastic. When we went into the room to get it exchanged I noticed how unhygienic the room was. He was touching my ear and didn't even put gloves on till the last minute. I received my helix piercing from their piercers and I was told I could get it pierced with hoops. I was very excited and at first it went well. The next day the swelling was so bad my ear turned purple. The rings that they put on my ear were WAY too small and were constricting the swelling. I tried to wait it out but my ear started to feel like it was on fire+ alot of throbbing. The purple color also only got worse. I called another piercer and put my piercing on Reddit to see what people would say. Numerous of people and licensed piercers said not only are you not supposed to start it out with rings, the rings I had were not the correct sizing. I had to spend more money to get them replaced to studs and they had to pry the hoops off of my ear. My ear was so hot it heated up the tapers when trying to remove the hoops. Once the studs were in the swelling went down night and day. read more

Ben is absolutely amazing, as the owner of the shop he knows exactly what he is doing and he is an amazing artist. He will take your idea and really bring it to life. If I didn't move to North Carolina, I would continuously be going back to get all my tattoos by him. He might have a long wait list to get in to see him, but trust me, the wait is more then worth it. BTW: the picture was right when I got done, it's been a little over a Year and it still looks exactly the same. Like I said, could not recommend Ben more. Everything was clean and sterile, his number one concern is that you are getting the EXACT piece you picture in your head.
