Shaded picnic spots made it easy to relax between innings, and the concession stand was stacked--fountain sodas, nachos, burgers, hot dogs, walking tacos... basically ballpark heaven on a tray. Then the cherry on top: a Colby Ridge food truck dishing out waffle cones and frozen lemonades that hit the spot like a walk-off home run. The whole scene was just good vibes--kids laughing, running around, families cheering, snacks in hand. Honestly, it was the kind of evening that makes you forget your phone for a while. The kids were having a blast--on the field, off the field, everywhere. The whole place just radiates fun and community spirit. Lincoln is seriously lucky to have a spot like this. 10/10 would watch tiny humans hit home runs here again!

We recently attended a child's birthday party at the Lincoln Children's Museum, and since it was…read moreheld after hours (5:30-7:30 p.m.), the museum was closed to the general public. While that time slot wasn't the most ideal for our family's schedule, having the museum almost entirely to ourselves was a huge perk. The kids rarely had to wait to use an exhibit, which made for a much more enjoyable experience than visiting during normal operating hours. Overall, the kids had a great time running from exhibit to exhibit, but I did find some of the museum's displays a little underwhelming. A number of the stations could benefit from clearer signage explaining what you're supposed to do. In several cases, it wasn't immediately obvious how an activity was meant to be used or what made it interactive. Some of the exhibits also feel like they're due for an update. Having visited both, I personally think the Omaha Children's Museum offers a wider variety of exhibits and more engaging hands-on experiences, but Lincoln's museum still provided plenty to keep the kids entertained for a couple of hours. The birthday party area itself was pretty standard. It reminded me of a concession stand or cafeteria-style space with tables and chairs. The birthday family was able to decorate a gift table and bring in their own cake, but it didn't really feel like a space where you could create much of a themed party atmosphere. I'm not sure what the museum's decorating policies are, so that may have played a role. One thing that stood out was the lack of water for the adults. The kids had drinks, but there weren't bottled waters or even cups of water available for the parents. I had forgotten my water bottle and ended up filling one of the small paper cups at the drinking fountain, which wasn't my favorite option. The museum also made a couple of announcements over the PA system--one for dinner and another to let everyone know there were about 15 minutes left in the party--but they were so garbled that I couldn't understand either one. I only found out what had been said after talking to other parents. Even with the reduced noise level from having a private event, the announcements were difficult to make out. The building itself has an older feel, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it does show its age in places. Overall, the kids had a wonderful time, and that's ultimately what matters most. With some refreshed exhibits, clearer instructions at the activity stations, and a few improvements to the overall guest experience, I think the museum could be even better.

Sometimes people - all "macho" men - will hog 2 or more machines at the same time. So you have to wait around for people who don't know SQUAT about how to work out. I've had this happen on numerous occasions. Gets tiresome. When you mention this to the staff, they don't do a thing to rectify the problem.

I had a very bad interaction with an employee of the Y. She approached me while I was in the middle…read moreof my set to tell me I was breaking one of their rules. On top of that, she thought it was appropriate to wear her gym clothes and no indication that she works there. I had to ask if she worked at the gym. It's confusing to be in the middle of your set and interrupted in an unethical and moral way. As a young woman, I go to the gym to feel strong and sure of myself, not to be harassed by an employee of the y who is in the middle of their workout. It's hard for me to be in the weight area I general. Due to this experience, I no longer feel comfortable continuing to go to this Y. Hopefully in the future, the employees will be trained in how to approach those who go to the gym. For the future young women who have a hard time being comfortable in the weight area, if anything.

The drinks from the bar were strong, and our food was pretty good for bowling alley food. We finished the night with a round of laser tag, which was so fun for a group of adults. The course is large with multiple levels, and we had a great time.

The wait staff were nice, even when we sent back a vegetarian pizza that had hamburger on it. When I got the right pizza, I was satisfied. It was deep dish. I wouldn't go out of my way for it but it was very good in the environment. The drinks were also good and the bartender was very kind. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Mahoney Park is fantastic because it offers a lot more than your typical park…read more First of all, it has a fence. It's an ADA playground which means it's a recreational space catered to kids with disabilities. It has wheel chair accessible ramps and firm surfacing. There's fitness equipment, covered picnic tables, benches, lots and lots of space. In addition to alll of this...right outside the playground, you are steps away from; a tennis court, basketball court, outdoor volleyball court, walking and running trails (dog friendly), and public restrooms. There's also a ton of parking. There's a little water fountain play area as well, but the water is turned off during winter season. The only downside is finding this park. It is quite a drive from the main road, but it's worth the trek!! I promise :)
