My son and I took the three-hour tour on a Sunday. Our tour guide knows a lot of people related to The Beatles like the current Quarrymen and the woman who owns Paul McCartney's childhood home. So many amazing stories, but the one about Ringo's dad was the most memorable. Instead of ending at the Cavern Club, he took us to John's favorite pub, The Phil, which is where McCartney played live for Carpool Karaoke. Then we had an easy walk downhill to the Cavern Club. My friend and I did the classic 3 hour tour with Geoff as our guide and it was amazing! We saw all the sights- all four Beatles' childhood homes, Penny lane, Strawberry Fields, the site where John and Paul met, and the cemetery where Eleanor Rigby is buried. Geoff was a great tour guide. He went above and beyond and took us to some "extra" stops that weren't officially part of the tour, and drove us past my friend's former school in Liverpool where she used to teach 10 years ago since it was near where we were. He was friendly, polite, funny, and shared a lot of history with us. He also made sure we got photos at every stop on the tour and knows how to take quality photos! If you have but one day in Liverpool, take the all day Fab 4 Taxi Tour. It is beyond comprehensive, going to places that the tour buses and other companies do not go. We often parked, walked, and watched as other tours passed us by not bothering to stop at the many, many, many places we stopped. Our guide, John, was an encyclopedia of Beatles information and trivia. And he took pictures of the five of us at every single stop. He went above and beyond at the end of the day waiting for us for a full hour after the tour ended and then driving us to the carpark so we did not have to walk with an exhausted 4-year-old, car seat, and luggage. My friends and I took a 2-hour tour with this company after attempting to book with the Magical Mystery Tour, which was sold out. It was the week of school holidays, and we had not realized how popular the MMT would be, so didn't even think to make advanced reservations. We were very very happy to have the Beatles Fab Four Taxi Tour as an option, and I was especially happy that the 2-hour tour allowed us to see everything we wanted around town. We booked through the Liverpool Info (tourist info?) office, just outside of the Beatles Story Museum. The woman who helped us actually called the tour company and arranged the pick up time for us, and we were able to pay 10% to reserve with her. Note that the 10% reservation fee is required and that they take credit cards; the rest of the balance due (total was 50 pounds) is paid directly to the driver and he only accepts cash. And, a tip is recommended! Our driver was a true 'scouser', with the northern accent and everything. He told us how the Beatles were 'forced' upon him as a child, and how his entire young life was impressed and impacted by everything Beatles due to several older Beatles-crazed siblings. He definitely had a lot of knowledge and was able to answer just about all of our questions. He also gave us a lot interesting details that tie the events of the past to today's current events, and we learned more about Ringo and Paul and their continued connections to Liverpool today. Very enjoyable. On the tour we saw Ringo's childhood home, the house where George lived when he met the other Beatles, the house where Paul lived when he met the other Beatles, and the two homes where John lived - first with his mom and then later with his aunt. I was surprised that none of these are part of the 'National Trust' organization that controls the other significant historic homes/buildings in the country (such as the stately mansions that are open to the public throughout the country). And that they were easy to drive up to and get pictures of without hoards of people. We also went to Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields and the cemetery where Eleanor Rigby is buried, plus the location where Paul first observed John playing with the young Quarrymen, before he joined the band. What was not included was the location of the Casbah (Best family home), the location of the Cavern (knocked down and now the site of a shopping mall), or the schools where the Beatles attended. During the tour we listened to a little Beatles music in the car (I would have liked more) and also saw old photos that the driver kept in a binder so you could get a feel for how things looked 'back then'. I would definitely recommend using this tour company for a private first-hand look at places. And bonus: our driver knew how to take decent pictures so we were able to get a bunch of us at the various locations! read more

While it was all about the Beatles it was also a perfect introduction to the wonders of Liverpool because it was clear that our guide loves this city. The tour is very personal. This review is for a 3-hour taxi tour in mid-July 2018. This is an excellent Beatles tour if you like a tour that only involves you and your party and some flexibility for time spent for pictures and questions. Our guide, Phil, was very informative and full of background stories (and some personal) involving the Fab Four. He picked us up at our hotel, gave us an explanation of what to expect on the tour, and off we went. For the first part of the drive, there was a little history provided about the city of Liverpool itself. Then we jumped right into the Beatles part of the tour. We were taken to where John was born, grew up, married, lived; the childhood homes of Paul, George, and Ringo; where Paul and George went to school; where Paul auditioned for choir; where Paul and John first met; and actual locations that served as inspirations for some of the songs. Of course, we could not enter the buildings, but the stories associated with them provided more depth anyway. Stories were complemented with pictures our guide showed from his binder of tour information. We had the option of listening to the stories inside the taxi or outside - we opted for being outside as much as we could. When there was a sprinkle of rain, Phil sat in the back with us inside the parked taxi and shared tour info about the location until the sprinkle stopped. The 3 hours did go by fast but did not feel rushed at all. Along the way, Beatles songs were played that were related to what we just saw/learned or were about to see. If songs were not played, Phil provided info and told stories over the intercom in the taxi. So, there was never a lull in the transportation part of the tour. A deposit was required when scheduling with the remainder of the payment due after the tour. Our guide accepted cash or credit card. At the end, Phil offered to drop us off at a location of our choice. We had planned to go to The Beatles Story afterwards, so he dropped us off there. As we walked with the tourist crowd through The Beatles Story, we realized that we had already learned most of the info from our tour. My travel partner and I agreed that we could have done without the museum, as we were completely satisfied with the taxi tour. read more

This was honestly one of the two highlights of my quick trip to Liverpool!! My friend and hubby are crazy Beatles fanatics and found this website through a couple of google searches and tripadvisor ratings. At first i was a bit skeptical, thinking I could do all those things on my own. Never have I been so wrong! Our tour guide is and was a rock n roll / country performer and you could just sense his passion for the Beatles and music in general. He took us all over to the homes of the Fab Four as they were children and took many pics of us wherever we were, which was so awesome. The Beatles Fab Four Taxi Tour is exactly what you would expect it to be, a magical mystery tour around Liverpool in a black cab which takes you to all the important spots in the history of Liverpool's most famous musical exports. The tour visits the former homes of the fab four and gives you an in-depth knowledge of the band but to enjoy this tour you must be a fanatic of the band otherwise most of the stuff goes straight over your head. Personally I am not a big fan and was dragged along to do this tour with some friends and I just found it to be a ride around Liverpool viewing places that weren't that interesting. This is the highlight of our trip. The tour is awesome if you want to know the back story on the Beatles. The details are awesome and you can take pictures (or they will for you) of every spot. You get out and see it all. BEWARE of the Magical mystery tour bus. We saw them often drive right by us as we stood in front of the site. For example, The bus went around the round-about and went on going. We watched it as we stood in the shelter behind the round-about. You also stand by Eleanor Rigby's grave not just a drive by.
