With a few upgrades, mainly for younger children, it could get there. It's a massive space with netball court, tennis court, soccer field with goals PLUS playgrounds, bike paths and a skate park. The skate park is pretty goos and a little bigger than some others around. It has a better run off area and lots more space for people to watch. Plus a rail and half pipes and the usual skating stuff. Could be used by skaters, riders, boarders and bladers alike. There was a small playground but it would only keep my child occupied for about 5 minutes. There were also a few chairs around the place, some shade and a drinking fountain. There is a proper big old brick toilet block on one side of the park which was fine to use. Take a few balls and your portable BBQ and you could have a really nice day out here. Plenty of parking close by. But I would expect it would be really busy during sport seasons.

It's also right near the Christie Downs Train Station so is an easy way to kill a little time if you have to wait for a train or to let the kids have a run around when you get off one It has a huge grassed area where you can play pretty much anything. There's a couple of gazebo area's and plenty of trees around the outer of the park for shade. There is an area where kids can play soccer or hockey with a goal there. Behind it there is an area for skateboards with a quite small and basic skateboarding "run" with some drops and slide spots. The playground equipment is not a lot but it is newer stuff and is a little different to most playgrounds. There is still a slide, there's a merry go round type thing and some balancing type equipment and a massive climbing structure that looks like a huge spider web. Kids seem to be able to climb over it for hours. So a good mix of activities for older and younger children at this one. Plus dogs are allowed AND they even have a doggy bag stand so people can keep it clean. There's plenty of parking nearby as well.

You may have previously known this as Noarlunga Oval but it was renamed in 2005 to honour former…read morepanther and successful property developer Alan Hickinbotham. However I wouldn't mind betting there was a big cash influx at the samt time as the place went through a big revamp and they also got brand new lighting on the oval for night games or training. It is the home to the Panthers!!!! aka South Adelaide Football Club. I'm not really a football person but know plenty who would use it for this purpose. I would prefer to go here for a nice meal or a great family event which are often held here. Once we went to a Circus here in the school holidays and off football season. Recently they held a Xmas Carols event with fireworks at it's conclusion for a very minimal cost. They seem to a place that gives back to the community sometimes as well. Plenty of car parking available (although probably not on game days). The oval has the capacity to fit around 12,000 people. The restaurant / bar / gaming area is known as Jimmy Deane's. They are open from 12 noon to 2:30pm for lunch and 5:30 to 8:30pm for dinner 7 days a week. They have a full function restaurant, TAB and Keno facilities, a pool table and a full bar. The gaming area has 40 poker machines and special promotions at different times on different days. Check their web site for details. The gaming area is open 7 days a week from 8am to 2am. They also have function rooms available and do weddings, 18th's, 21st's, formals, graduations, corporate packages, seminars, conferences, engagements, anniversaries, in fact they can cater for any special event at all. Check out the photo's on their website, it looks georgeous all done up. Great views too. They even do kids birthday parties and have meat raffles. Check out the website as they have some great functions and events at both places that may or may not be football related. But will always be lots of fun.

What I do know is that it is out of the way a little, as long as there is no football on at the time there is heaps of parking, plenty of shade, some great fishing over the back of the carpark behind the oval (be careful off the major drop off though, not a place to lose your kids!). There are fully functional toilet facilities, a very small playground at the rear of the oval over by the clubrooms plus a great little fully fenced playground at the front near the Noarlunga Netball & Tennis Club and right by the toilets. The netball and tennis club is a nice newer looking area. It's great to see so many varied activities in the one spot.

If this playground were a house, the phrase would be 'Potential! Potential! Potential!' You would…read morethink that a park area as big as this on the corner of such a main road (Wheatsheaf Rd) would be prime location for a great community 'get together' spot....it certainly has the room for it. What you get is far less than what I was hoping for. It has a drinking fountain....yay!.....that doesn't work.....booo! It has a shaded table/chairs....yay!....with broken glass everywhere....booo! This certainly isn't a playground that caters, engages or entertains a wide range of children and their abilities. It has swings, a bouncy thing and a spinny thing that some children find it difficult to get out of and just keep spinning and spinning and spinning. Be positive Amanda! Ok, it has a really large space for kicking a ball or running around or riding your bike. That's all I can say. *SIGH* what a beautiful opportunity to have a wonderful space for children. The playground is mediocre although it certainly isn't the worst I've seen in this suburb but there is absolutely NOTHING else; no drinking fountain, no shade, no shelter, no toilets. It's not great coz there aren't toilet or water or even shade but it is better than the next…read moreclosest one and it does have heaps of room to play anything at all that requires lots of space. The playground is a little more inventive than just swings and a slide too. The grass is really dead which is surprising when it was nice in winter and I have seen sprinklers on here before. But I would suggest leaving shoes on at all times as there are quite a few prickles. It's not fantastic but it is close to our home and easy walking distance, which is sometimes all you are looking for. But unless you take some other things, like balls or frisbees, the playground itself won't keep them busy for more than about half an hours max.

There is so much that I love about this playground. I love that the playground itself has shaded areas built into it. I love that there's a variety of equipment for different ages. I love that you can almost launch yourself off of some of the slides. I love that it's fully fenced. I love that there's even a ramp onto the playground for those children who need wheels to get around. I love that apart from the ramp there's still about four different ways to actually get on to the playground. Can you tell I'm excited? BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!! I love that there sheltered table/chairs AND a working drinking fountain so close to the playground. I love that there's a basketball hoop not too far away. I love that you can have dogs in the park (but not in the fenced off playground area). I love that there's a BBQ! I LOVE IT!!! SO why didn't I give this a five star rating???? Because there's no toilets :-( This IS a destination playground for me because I don't have to drive far to get to it. I would however, prefer to have toilets at a playground that I drove across town to get to.
