They are very knowledgeable about knitting and sewing. With 27 grand children, I have purchased a lot of yarn for I have knitted many beautiful sweaters, hats, mittens and socks! Designing Woman is my first stop when looking for quality yarn and fabric. I have always felt appreciated and welcomed when I go into the store. The negative review just can't be true. Someone was having a very bad day! As for the remark about sitting, did she stop and think that maybe health issues kept one sitting rather than standing? My family and I happened upon this shop on a previous trip and, peeking through the windows adoringly at all the lovely fabrics and baubles, made a note to return. We finally got our chance to visit a couple weeks ago and were absolutely delighted by the selection of fabrics and notions. They have many contemporary fine fabric designers and styles from which to choose in addition to high quality threads and various notions you may need for different projects from garment construction to quilting to other household crafts. They stock quite a bit of Liberty of London fabrics, high-end cottons that feel like buttery silk, which would make for some dreamy apparel, as well as many contemporary and fun designs in all sorts of bolts and rolls. Their independent patterns selection was also awesome with an entire wall for garment-project inspiration from Deer & Doe, Colette, Cashmerette, Closet Case, Grainline Studio, Liesl + Co, Megan Nielsen, Merchant & Mills, and others. I was instantly inspired to get my sewing machine running again in hopes of finishing some projects I'd already planned along with new ones catalyzed by this shopping trip. They also feature some sewing craft kits; embroidery and stitch art kits, supplies and hoops; and a selection of yarns and such for the crochet and yarn enthusiasts. I only wish I were closer to the store (or that it was closer to me) so that I could visit more frequently and perhaps also attend some classes. As it was, I left with some beautiful fabric including a discounted remnant of the lovely Liberty cotton and a new t-shirt pattern I'm looking forward to trying my hand at. I hope to return for more patterns, fabrics, and perhaps find a project in which to incorporate some of that lovely ribbon by which I was absolutely mesmerized. Just when you think it can't get any better than having some new raw materials and a dream of a garment to take form, they wrap up your purchase in paper and tie it with string!

Unique to other shops in the northeast Ohio area is a selection of supplies for cartonnage (covering cardboard with fabric) and collage quilting. All their fabrics are sold only by the half yard but they also have fat quarters cut for all their fabrics. The staff is always very friendly and will help you find what you need for your projects. I just love the store and every time I go in I am I'm in there at least an hour and a half to two hours looking for different things. They have tons and tons of the most beautiful trims and velvet and brocades and just regular old cotton upholstery but my favorite or the owners and the workers there. They even sell Upholstry vinyl and sometimes you can find some Sunbrella fabric for like for boat tops my favorite place in the whole world.
