Really found the Fabric House to suit my needs. I came to town from Arizona to help prior clients from out west style their new home here in Brentwood. I was able to get fantastic fabric on my first visit. Mackenzie was very helpful, as were two of the other workers. I appreciated that they were not breathing down my neck as soon as I entered. I was able to walk the entire store, preselect what I was interested in, and then had Mackenzie join me to cut swatches and show me other things that I may be interested in. I go in the Fabric House quite often and every time the ladies there are very helpful but not overbearing or pushy. They are always very busy because they have tons of customers so don't think they're ignoring you if they can't get a sample cut for you right away. The fabric prices are great and comparable (or lower) to any online retailer. The selection is the best I've seen in town. In response to Lynda M.'s 10/16 comment on my review, the first "main concern" is false. That material was not from a close out. I got it at SIRs Fabrics where it sells for $20 per yard compared to $40 per yard at Fabric House, at least according to Lynn, your 30 year custom drapery vet who seems to have a really difficult time reading a tape measure. At Lynn's direction, I ordered an additional 15.5 yards of that material so the design she created could be achieved, and I told her (more than once) if more fabric was needed I could oder it promptly. All of which is documented in e-mails. Somebody at Excuses House is telling fibs. As far the second concern you raised, it just proves my point- you're making excuses. The finished version didn't have to look like that. With troubleshooting it could've looked presentable, but you guys took so long (14 weeks!) sent the installation guy out here without the right paperwork and without the right materials, avoided calls, wouldn't return emails, and just made excuses that I just lost confidence in you, and I stand by my assertion that competence is lacking. And furthermore, the rod being over the window has nothing to do with why there's a 15" gap between the cascades and drapes, or that the drapes don't go to the ceiling as specifically stipulated in our agreement. If this is an example of you doing your best, please let me know when your close out sale is. You've got some pretty things there. read more

I am not really what you would call a crafty girl. I also don't sew or anything of the sort. So finding myself in a fabric store really is a stretch. But I want to recover my dining room chairs and I plan to do it myself. So my mom told me about the Fabric House and I finally went to check it out. First off, check the hours on this joint. They are not open Sundays, they close at 5pm during the week so for most normal working people it will be Saturday when you visit. So it will be busy. The fabric is arranged by color and displayed together. It is completely overwhelming. Plus I had no idea what fabric was appropriate for upholstery. I wandered the entire store looking at things and finally found some books in the middle of the store with fabric you can order. That's where I found something I really liked! I finally found someone that works there (a lot of people in there so the ladies were busy and not readily available) and asked about it. She said "this seems like your first time in a fabric store". Oh thank God, she knows, so she can help me. She wrote out how much the fabric would be, we found similar fabric in store that was cheaper and she gave me a sample of it to take home. And told me that I could just call in if I decided I wanted to order the more expensive one and not drive over there just for that. Pretty good service! If you are looking to sew drapes, bedspreads, or make crafty things, or recover chairs, then you gotta hit this place up. read more

I was looking for a specific fabric online and The Fabric House was the only online store that I could find that carried it besides Hobby Lobby. Before purchasing the fabric, I emailed (after hours) to make sure they had enough in stock. Mark promptly responded to me the following morning and had even reached out to the manufacturer to find out if he could get me more. He maintained constant, quick and responsive email communication with me and even figured out a way to cut my shipping to Texas in half. I love the selections at Fabric House, but the customer service is one of the worst I've ever experienced. I have had encounters before at Fabric House where the sales associates were just not friendly at all. When I went in last weekend, I warned my friend who was with me of this. And boy, was she able to witness it first hand herself. Upon entering, we were not greeted at all. After browsing, we went up to the cash register and told the lady checking someone out we needed help cutting some samples, so she called someone up to help us. When the other lady approached us, I told her that we needed a few samples cut. With no greeting whatsoever from her or even a "yes, I would be glad to help" type comment, she looks at me and snapped "well you are going to have to tell me where to go, I can't read your mind." It took a lot for me to hold my composure, because I came very close to saying nevermind and walking out. But neither my friend nor I could hide our facial expressions of how appalled we were. If I hadn't have loved the fabric I was getting cut as much as I did, I don't know that I would have gone back. As I said, love the selections, but the sales associates need a refresher course in customer service. read more

The ONLY good thing that can be said about this store is that they offer a beautiful array of fabrics. Unless you're wealthy, white, and female, you will not be welcome in this store. With VERY few exceptions, the women who work at the store are rude and condescending; the only way to know that is if they actually acknowledge your presence to begin with. I read the many negatives reviews as well, but I wanted to form my own opinion. I went in to buy 3 custom drapery panels and fabric for all custom bedding. The first time I went in, a lady named Holly waited on me. She took me up and down every aisle explaining companion colors and what looked best. I took home a few swatches and samples and returned a week later ready to purchase all of my items. Unfortunately, Holly was not there the 2nd time. I was greeted by icy stares as I walked in. Two women looked me up and down as to size me (and my budget) up. I told a lady that I was returning a sample and she wouldn't even look at me. She treated me like I had no business being in there, and she didn't have time to wait on me. At that point I refused to do business here. If I only worked with Holly, I would have given this place 5 stars. However, the other ladies ruined it for me, and I took my $1,600 worth of business to another store. read more

I can't say enough about my positive experience with The Fabric House! I actually worked with a few different people and each person was patient and helpful. Even though I'm in California, they responded quickly to my e-mail inquiries and even took the time to talk with me on the phone a couple of times to help me decide how much fabric to buy. I couldn't get any assistance like that from my local fabric shops. I was so frustrated. They helped me achieve a gorgeous new wingback chair - I wouldn't have it without their assistance. Plus, their prices are so reasonable! Everywhere else I saw this fabric was significantly higher! I dealt with Sammy, Gail, and Lynda....hopefully I'm not forgetting anyone. I'm so disappointed with my repeated, poor service experience in this store. I've been in 4-5 times, and it's almost impossible to get someone to acknowledge you're even there. They never greet you, and they avoid eye contact if they are busy. They have a beautiful selection of fabrics, but if you can't ever get a sample/trim cut or even check out, it's very difficult to enjoy the fabric outside of the store. Today I ended up putting my purchase-to-be back on the shelf. I wish there was another option in town for home décor fabrics. Go for the selection, NOT the service! I really want to love this store and give them all my money but I can't get over the fact that the employees are so incredibly rude. Most of the time they're too busy talking to each other to notice there are customers waiting for help. If you do find some fabric that works for your project make sure you know how much you need because you'll probably end up with way more if they calculate for you. For example, I was given yardage needed by the person making my drapes and the lady helping me kept telling me it wasn't enough.... I thought I should play it safe and get a bit extra and sure enough I had 3 yards left. I can only imagine the employees are taught to upsell or maybe are just clueless. The selection is great but if you work a 9-5 it can be hard to get in to look during the week. Don't bother running in anywhere near close because you'll be shooed out by what I can only guess is the manager tapping her foot at the front door. read more

I was in Nashville for business, had a little free time, and buzzed by this shop to look for drapery fabric. I found the perfect print but they only had about a yard of it left! The staff was very helpful in identifying the fabric and offered to order another bolt and have my length shipped to my home in California. It was a Friday at closing time so they weren't positive they could get the restock but gave me their contact information for the following week. While I was able to locate the fabric through another source, their price, service, and selection are hard to beat. I'll be back the next time I'm in town! read more

The last time I had found fabric that I really loved, and was intending to use it to reupholster a chair, however chose not to buy from them because of their poor customer service. After reading some less than favorable reviews, I ventured into the store. I have been there several times, and have received nothing but friendly, helpful and knowledgeable assistance. The reason I am writing this review, is due to my latest experience. To make a long story short, I bought fabric that came in a 58 inch width. When I got home, I decided to expand my project so I went back to the store for another piece of fabric of the same length. When I got home, I marked and started to cut all of my pieces only to find out that the second batch of fabric was 4 inches shorter in width than the first (it was cut from a new bolt). I called the store, spoke with Gail, the manager. She not only gave me suggestions as to how to remedy the problem, but she told me to come into the store the next morning and she would make it right. Gail's customer service has turned me into a loyal Fabric House customer. Not only is their selection the best around, but the customer service is top notch. read more

A large selection of out-dated and overpriced fabrics. As the other reviews have stated they are arranged by color, but not very well. I found the color I was looking for, in three different places. Natural light is important when selecting fabrics. Unfortunately most of their goods are in harsh artificial light, hence the need for swatches. If only to take outside and look at their true colors. I've been sewing for half a century now and know my way around material. But I was treated by the staff as though they were annoyed by my presence. I don't look like I'm rich and stupid, which seems to be the clientele they are trying to attract. The final straw was the other customers. Their arrogance and airs of self-importance was only out done by their ignorant, unsolicited advice. Although I do a lot of internet shopping there is still nothing like the experience of a brick and mortar store when buying fabric. So, I guess I just have to order swatches online, or wait until my next out of town trip to buy what I wanted. I will not be going back there. read more

When I left, I read the reviews and began to laugh when I saw others had had the same experience. I dealt with two women in the store a total of three different visits and both of them were cold and rude. The second lady acted like I was consuming her precious time and the other flat out gave me an attitude when I asked about my measurements and the cost... I bought my drapes here because I am literally that pressed for time but this staff needs a reality check because apparently many people have had the same experience.... At the suggestion of our new neighbors, my husband and I took off work in early April 2017 to visit The Fabric House and began selecting fabrics and planning for custom drapery, bedding, etc. for our new home in one of Williamson County's premier golf communities. Immediately, we were taken aback by the lack of attention given to us by store staff. When asked, a very nice lady agreed to show us around and cut fabric samples though she indicated that we would have to work with a designer to make final selections, etc. We made two more visits to the store but were never assigned a designer despite my understanding that one would be assigned. Finally, on May 8, I spoke with the same lady again who promised to have a designer call me the following Monday to schedule field measurements at the construction site. After waiting two weeks, I called and complained to a male who took the call when I asked for a manager. He apologized profusely and promised to have someone (a designer) call me later that day. I received a call from Holly Gaw, who collected my information and scheduled to come out to take measurements on May 12. When asked where the construction site was located, I responded with the address and name of the community. Holly snickered which took me by surprise but I thought nothing else of it. She arrived as promised on May 12 at 9am, requesting only to take "initial measurements of the first floor of the home." When I pushed back stating that this was not our agreement, she completed the second floor. At 11:30am, I stepped out to take a call, and it began to rain shortly thereafter. Holly came outdoors in the rain to await her husband who was to pick her up. I offered her a seat in my car while she waited as the construction site was muddy and wet. When she got inside, she gave me a total of $310 for her service visit. Again, I was shocked as we had agreed that the fee would be $75 when we spoke by phone. After some discussion, she conceded and took the check for the previously agreed upon amount. Holly and I agreed to meet later the same day to look at more fabrics. She, my teenage son, and I selected more fabrics before discussing the process to follow. Holly agreed to send me a list of prices for the items we discussed along with a draft contract so that we could begin working toward our anticipated August 1 move-in date. On May 13, I wrote Holly to request the information promised since I had not received it yet. After several emails back-and-forth about her inability to upload the measurements, she finally scanned them to me on May 23 with very general cost estimates. I reviewed the information with my husband and, on May 27, responded with a list of six rooms that would require custom drapery, bedding (shams, pillow cases, throw pillows, coverlets, duvets and bed skirts) and shower curtains. I also shared my travel schedule and followed up with another phone call to confirm when Holly and I would get together. Holly promised to call to schedule some time to work on contracts etc. upon my return from vacation on June 17. After not receiving a call as promised, I called the store again on June 23 but could not reach Holly. She later called and complained that she had not had time to call but had drafted a contract although fabric selections were not finalized. I reminded her of the many visits and email exchanges, and expressed my disappointment with her failure to follow through. I ended the conversation by telling her that I would need to get started asap; she replied that she only works three days a week most weeks and wouldn't be able to assist me until June 28 at best. I told Holly that I would discuss it with my husband but that we might need to request a new designer at that point. Today, June 26, I visited the store to express my concerns with the manager, Gail Peterson, who refused to simply assign a new designer so that our project could get off the ground given the time lapse and multiple inconveniences. She, instead, took my information and promised to gather the details and call me with the next steps. An hour later, I received an email from Gail stating that "Holly had done a LOT of work on your job. She came to your home and measured for nearly 2 hours/ with extra mileage. She has responded in a timely fashion. I'm sorry to say that we here are not going to be able to help you with your home decor. You already have all the measurements - perhaps you can use those. You have to be a partner in those choices along with our part in getting items constructed / installed. Good luck with your home and sorry we cannot further help you." I was extremely disappointed by Gail's email. After discussing the matter with her by phone to no avail, I decided to share my experience everywhere possible. I now know that I am not the only person who has been treated this way after reading the terrible experiences of others on Yelp, Google and other online sources. Pretty fabrics but extremely rude staff. The staff never asks me if I need help and when you finally get their attention they are unpleasant to deal with. It's like you are bothering them to do their job. If you don't know much about fabrics and ask common questions, they can be very condescending. I've never had a positive experience there.
