My mother-in-law suggested Charles Towne Landing. I wasn't quite sold on the idea of a park, until we started to drive threw the magnificent entrance of beautiful oak trees filled with Spanish moss. It was something out of a fairy tale. I hadn't even seen the house yet and I knew this was the place. The Avenue of Oaks was just a bonus. I now had my ceremony location and reception. Unfortunately my daughter had to have emergency brain surgery in March and my son-in-laws Mother had some preexisting health issues that landed her in the ICU off and on for the 6 weeks leading up to the wedding. Needless to say I started to feel overwhelmed with all of these unexpected health issues and a wedding in 6 weeks. I contacted a wedding planner that a friend suggested and over a period of a week tried to get in touch with her. When I wasn't able to make a connection with her I panicked and started searching through Charleston Magazine for event/wedding planners and found The Event Cooperative. I called Maryann and from the moment I started sharing my story I knew everything was going to be fine. Maryann made herself available to meet with us right away, immediately contacted the vendors we had already secured and started making arrangements to fill in the holes we had left. She quickly picked up on what was important to the bride and groom and what they had envisioned for their big day. She communicated flawlessly with everyone involved and set the tone for a beautiful day. To top it all off we had a tropical storm headed to Charleston in the days leading up to the wedding, the grooms grandfather passed away within days of the wedding and the grooms mother was readmitted to ICU 5 days before the wedding. It's still hard for me to believe but I was never concerned about the wedding from the moment Maryann came in to the picture. The couple ended up having two ceremonies that weekend...one on Saturday in the ICU at Roper Hospital with just immediate family and one as originally planned on Mother's Day with all their guests. Maryann was amazing and her assistance allowed the bride and groom and the entire extended family to enjoy spending time together and celebrating their marriage even in the midst of some very difficult days. By the time the wedding came around our Dj just chose not to follow the plan (ex. skipped over the bridal party entrance) and didn't play very many songs off our must play list but rather just chose what he wanted. i had to repeatedly send bridesmaids up to ask to play the songs on our MUST play list, we also chose not to accept requests and this was also ignored by the Dj. Also we spoke about having family friendly music on the front half of dancing and about 3 songs in an EXTREMELY inappropriate song that we did NOT request played and I had many offended guests. Overall the music choices were not bad at all, but if i knew they were going to go against our wishes I probably would have hired elsewhere.

There are so many different photo booths to choose from! Cathy was our photo booth attendant, and she did an incredible job. Since my wedding was on Halloween, I asked if I could purchase a special backdrop for the wedding and they were more than happy to oblige. The booth was an absolute HIT at the wedding. He was a pleasure to work with leading up to the big day and onsite. Chris went above and beyond by learning our first dance song and making song suggestions for the father, daughter dance. Chris is a true professional that required no assistance or guidance throughout the planning process and wedding day. He was a trooper with the many song requests throughout the night and was the MC for the special moments (i.e. bride & groom entrance, cake cutting, dances, etc.). We were worried that our small wedding (21 people) wouldn't have much dancing but Chris kept everyone on their feet until the end of the night. We'd highly recommend Chris for your wedding or party needs!
