It is always extremely frustrating when I scour the internet for hours and come up empty-handed. I have very specific tastes and like invitations to my parties and hosted events to SHOW exactly what you are going to get just by reading/looking at the invitation inside the envelope. The invitation is always anyone's FIRST IMPRESSION about the upcoming event and the standard options just aren't my style. Thank all things good that I found Christy! She is owner of Creative in Bloom and handles every order personally. She has done four invitations for me starting with my sister's bridal shower and bachelorette party invitations. She has since done two other awesome invites, my baby shower invites, my sister-in-law's Christmas cards, my best friend's save the dates and is now working with me on her shower and bachelorette party invites. I just cannot get ENOUGH of her unique mind!! I always send her my event info and ask for something interesting like a "catch phrase" for the invitation. I also am very high maintenance about size, price and colors. She always manages to give me EXACTLY what I am looking for and I didn't even KNOW what I wanted to begin with!! For example, for my shower ...which was hosted on 4th of July, she coined the term "Marcie and Erich are welcoming their little firecracker!" with fireworks in the background and a baby buggy in the front. This is just one idea ...after all, she will come with a unique twist of words for ANY event! Not only that but she is responsive, and I value that highly! I am in the wedding industry myself and work very hard at keeping brides happy by being on my toes. She is certainly that, if not more! She gives options! She allows you to change your mind! She works with a no holds bar attitude towards her work. The sky is the limit! I 100% recommend her for ANYTHING you want to host...rehearsal dinners, weddings, showers, birthday parties, the list goes on and on!! It's a shop full of all that quirky, humorous swag that nobody really needs but makes great gifts…read more I bought a three-legged clay South American good-luck pig for my grandmother (who loves pigs) and left it at that, but I could have easily picked out something for each member of my whole family and several friends. Shot glasses, flasks, magnets, bumper stickers, all sorts of Anne Taintor stuff, books, greeting cards, buttons, candy, action figures...basically knick-knacks, gew-gaws, doodads, baubles, trinkets, novelties, and ephemera of all types. And an AVALANCHE of IU t-shirts, about a third of the store. Most are actual licensed t-shirts so you know that you're getting a quality shirt, but the prices range from six to ten bucks. Soft t-shirts, block-letter t-shirts, t-shirts with or without the trident symbol, "B-town" t-shirts, humorous t-shirts ("Purdouche", "Dry Campus", et al), etc etc etc, in numerous colors and several sizes. I saw t-shirts in several stores that day, and Greetings had the best prices and widest selection of all of them.

My buddies and I stopped by this card shop the other day looking for some Pokémon sealed product to…read morerip together. We were excited to open a few things, but the prices were shockingly high -- almost triple the normal market value on most items. A standard booster box that usually goes for $70-$90 online was priced at around $170 here. A UPC that MSRP $119 markets at $200 was priced at $245. The Pokémon tins were also marked up to triple the normal price, and even the promo singles were going for double what they typically sell for elsewhere. It's too bad because ripping packs with friends is supposed to be fun, but these kinds of markups make it feel like the shop is taking advantage of collectors. We ended up leaving empty-handed. I'd suggest checking online prices or trying other stores first. These prices are just too steep to make it worth it here. Whether on purpose or out of touch not worth your money.

As you enter, there is a staircase that leads up (I'm not sure that area is open to the public). A couple of staff were having a conversation as I strolled through the house. I noticed miniature houses/rooms recreated by the owner who spent time as a curator of furnishings for a New York museum. I also found puzzles and pencils and a diverse group of items that may work as a gift or as a conversation piece in your home. I like shopping at Hallmark's Little Green Apple in Avon on Rockville Rd (US 36). Parking is usually available since it sits back off of Rockville Road (behind Burger King) in the strip center. The store is filled with a large amount of gift items or items you personally might enjoy. They have all the typical Hallmark holiday decor intermixed with other brands. Right now they are filled with Valentine and Easter items. I'm here for a sympathy card and they have a decent selection. It's always difficult selecting a sympathy card as what can you say to comfort your family or friend. Hopefully a card will let them know you're thinking of them. Items range from holiday items, stuffed animals, sports themed gifts, home decor, collectibles, gift bags, wrapping paper and so much more. I enjoy browsing the store for new arrivals. I find stocking stuffers, future birthday and anniversary cards and gifts often plus much more. The staff is always helpful and friendly. Stop in and browse the store.

Ujamaa Community Bookstore is the new endeavor by the people behind Flanner House, a non-profit…read moresocial services program in Indianapolis. This bookstore is so cool. There are multiple shelves lined with books written by and about Black people. You'll find children's books, graphic novels, biographies, fiction, non-fiction and everything in between. Most of the books are new, but there is a shelf with discounted used books, too. There's a sign in the store that says something like, "Celebrating Black history every day of the year," and it's true. This bookstore is a celebration of Black history and the future, too. There's a cozy little nook in the bookstore just for kids, with toys, lots of different games for all ages, tables to do projects, a rocking chair to sit in and read, and stuffed animals to hug. On the other end of the bookstore, you'll find a public restroom that's not just a restroom, it's a sanctuary to help the community. Inside, you'll find health and hygiene products, oral care products, first-aid supplies, and products for people who menstruate. This is simply the best place ever. Ujamaa is really invested in the community and wants to help the people who stop by. You'll also find a little coffee bar with Keurig coffee, as well as hot water and tea bags. I couldn't tell if the beverages were complimentary or not. But what a nice idea to enjoy a cup of coffee and read a book in this amazing place! The people I encountered who work here were so friendly and nice. They were ready to help and answer questions. Ujamaa is a bookstore, but they also sell medicinal plants, lotions and candles made by local artisans, book-related gifts, and lots more.
