Mauna Loa is the heritage macadamia brand from Hawai'i, and it was an honor for us to work with Aaron to give back to the community that we are both a part of. Aaron is from Hilo, and worked with the local schools that he went to- Kamehameha Schools in creating the mural. We threw a Mauna Loa x Aaron Kai community event that was extremely well received, and our staff have commented on how the mural has lifted morale at the plant, as it is such a beautiful piece that everyone sees on their way to work. My husband's taste is very different from mine, and she not only helped us strategize functionality and livability in the space, but did everything from help design a custom architectural window seat/bookcase to detailed suggestions including knobs, fabrics, and numbers of pillows for our family, living/dining, and master bedrooms. She helped turned this house into a forever home. I also appreciated that she helped us maximize our budget. With so much to do, we had to bargain hunt. She found a massive high quality sofa on NextDoor that retails for $3500 (which we bought for $100) and helped us reupholster for less than half the retail price! Total steal. It was a process and took much effort but she was able to restore the mural and what she was able to do was beyond belief. Some areas so little was left, but was able to keep the mural true to form. This review is long overdue. 4 years ago I remodeled my bathroom. Coming from an interior design…read morebackground, I'm extremely particular about who I have work on my home. I put a lot of time, money and creativity into the remodel, and therefore I was very particular about who I wanted to work with me on it. I hired Carole to paint back in the details on a vintage, Asian TV cabinet, that I turned into a bathroom vanity. Needless to say this wasn't an easy job. The vanity was initially orange and black, however, I had it painted a light turquoise color. When this was done, it completely concealed all of the intricate detail work underneath it. My former faux painter tried to come in and repaint all of the details back in, however, wasn't able to. The vanity has raised figures on the doors, which take a very delicate touch to get just right. There's also intricate gold fretwork around the doors as well as on the sides. When Carole came in, we sat down together, and discussed how I wanted it to look. We went over colors, different shades of gold, the overall feel of it, etc. She painted in not only on the raised figures but also elaborate artwork on the doors as well. Luckily, I had taken pictures of the cabinet prior to having it painted, so she was able to reference the previous artwork, and not just duplicate it, but make it 100 times better! It turned out to be a masterpiece! It is one of the star attractions of the remodel. Everyone who sees the bathroom is absolutely starstruck at how unique it and beautiful it is, and Carole's expert hand was an integral part of why that is. I can't recommend her enough and if you're lucky enough to have her to work in your home, you'll feel the same way. Her skills are easily on par with those of the old world masters. I hope to work with her again in the future, as I have a couple of projects in mind that I would like her to bring to life.Thanks again, Carole. You were a joy to work with.

We reached out to Hattas Public Murals to paint a mural for our newborn son's nursery. With a very…read morespecial but also specific theme in mind, we were unable to find any traditional wall decor in stores that really matched our vision. That's when we decided to commission a mural through a professional and quickly connected with Jeannine at Hattas Public Murals on Thumbtack. We received a lightning fast response, and were immediately impressed with her level of professionalism and accomplished portfolio. After a short on-site consult to take measurements and notes, Jeannine and her team got to work, sending mock-ups (and a few revisions) that brought our idea to life, but also within our budget. The mural features a scene inspired from the book series ("The Prydain Chronicles"), a monogram, our son's name, and a quote from the author. Our son, like the hero from the books is also adopted, so the concept behind the design was especially emotional. Jeannine listened to our story with so much compassion and understanding, we were absolutely confident the execution of the mural would be flawless. Our instincts were spot-on. Once the final mock-up was approved, Hattas Public Murals delivered and installed a spectacular work of art that still brings tears to my eyes. In fact, calling it art is quite the understatement; it is an awe-inspiring and  immersive experience. Everyone who has stepped into our baby boy's nursery has been absolutely blown away, and are amazed by the love and care that can be found in every brush stroke. We could not be more in love with this mural, and the pictures attached simply cannot do it justice. Best of all, it was painted on canvas and applied like wallpaper, so it can be moved, preserved, and treasured for many years to come. We cannot begin to thank Jeannine and her team enough for making our nursery the most special room in our home; with a one of a kind mural that is just as unique and beautiful as our son, Taran. This was important to me. Jeanine took the time to listen to what I was looking for and suggested a few things to help grow my idea. I loved that. She came over and was so kind and really took time to understand this was more than just a job; this was something my kid is going to grow up with. She took measurements, and even took color swatches of the carpet and furniture to make sure we matched the color palette! She quickly mocked something up and a few days later I had a photoshopped mockup for approval. Once we approved it we setup a date and I paid the deposit. Marcus was the artist that was assigned to this project. He was so kind and wonderful in my home. He let my wife and I peek and see progress, and would check in with me if he had any questions. He's a really talented artist and executed my vision faithfully. At the end of the day my wife cried (with joy), we have our incredible mural and I couldn't recommend this company enough.
