I have gone to Esquire since I was a little kid. My father went to Esquire since he was a little…read morekid. We both knew Vern and were saddened to hear about the accident. He will be sorely missed. As far as the the shop goes I have mixed feelings about the shop. The shop to me just isn't the same without Vern personally but I understand the tension that it brings for the long time customers. There will be wait times occasionally, and even appointments can start late but if you want the best cuts in Griffin this is the place to go.very reasonable male haircut prices. I still have fond memories of being a child here, after every haircut I would hand Mr. Vern $7 (it gradually went up to $10) and he would hand me a nice handful of bubble gum.

I am disappointed that I have to leave this review because I really enjoy the result of their…read moreservice, but I need to share my experience with this business. I have visited this shop for about a year; at least once a month. Each time I visited I went on my lunch hour, since I am usually not able to go at any other time. Each time I noticed a "no wait" sign. This is never the case and they shouldn't operate this sign. There was always a wait and only a couple people cut hair at a time here. I started typing a long review about what happens to me each time I go but here is the bottom line: I like the cuts, but I refuse to wait around while the employees gossip and chat with their friends while half a dozen people have been waiting for 45 minutes to get a haircut. I will be finding another barber to visit after my experience today, but today was not the only time I have been through this. This is an awkward place to visit if you don't know someone who works there. It is not a welcoming business and the customer service is horrible. I thought a nice neck shave was worth putting up with some of this crap but it's not. I watched two people walk out after waiting and the employees/owner didn't say anything, they watched them walk out like it doesn't matter to them. I was right behind them out the door. The women here can be nice but they will be quick to take advantage of customers. They will stop cutting hair to talk on their cell phones for 5-10 minutes or say "you don't mind if I eat my lunch since I haven't taken a lunch yet, right?" (As they start eating something after you sit down and before you can answer). I have experienced this. I thought tipping a little more would give more of an incentive to get me in the chair and on my way but it was not. I was giving a 60% tip on top of the cost of the haircut but they didn't seem thankful for it. With all that said, I hope I am able to find another barber who cuts hair as well as they did but I am praying for better service. I really hope this helps someone.
