The building is well maintened as well as the equipement (computers etc). The most important part is the quality of the class, which is so far so good, I feel I learn something for new in the end of every class about adobe InDesign and Illustrator.

The teachers are excellent and approachable, they always had an ear for your problems and a practical solution. Couldn't recommend it highly enough!

They do this by running courses, workshops and giving guidance with writing related issues. The building is magnificent, an old Georgian building with impressive original artwork on every floor. Membership of the centre allows you to use the resources and work quietly on your work during office hours.

I did a creative writing course here some time ago and it is really a beautiful building - so old and historic and in a lovely part of town too, Parnell Square. The course itself that I took, however, wasn't all that great. All the students were my age and older, ie 30 and 40-somethings, but the tutor was all of 20, which I didn't approve of. She was a published writer yes, but of children's books, and I'm sure she knew what she was talking about up to a point, but she was also still completing her degree in college. I just felt that someone that young wasn't quite ready to be teaching a creative writing class. I didn't discuss this with the rest of the people on the course, but I suspect a lot of them had similar opinions as attendance was quite bad for the term.

The fact that I couldn't draw a bucket of water didn't stop me wandering in to see what it is all about and to see if maybe they did a toddlers session or something to distract junior. Turns out they don't cater for toddlers (and I really can't blame them) but they do a whole range of courses including short ones for children over the summer. The ethos seems to be using art as a medium for helping children and adults cope with life as a whole - teaching patience and planning while guiding you through. I don't know how usual it is to have this sort of ethos but I like the idea, might be something to look at for the cold winter months!
