DO NOT follow the GPS directions. From I-395 Take Duke Street and turn left onto Oasis Drive and snake around to the tall Fairfield/IHOP location. The location is less than 1 mile off I-395 and priced very reasonable. The hotel is old but well maintained. Breakfast is slightly below average with no waffle maker. I booked this hotel through the NEA website and prepaid for my room. On the day of my arrival, I called ahead to let the front desk know I'd be checking in late due to flight delays. The staff member assured me that it was no problem and noted it on my reservation. I arrived around 11 PM, and from the moment I walked in, I began to question whether I'd booked the wrong hotel. The front desk staff seemed more preoccupied with attending to family than assisting guests. Another guest came downstairs visibly upset about his room, asking to be moved, and his request was denied. A separate family left frustrated as well. When it was my turn, I gave the staff my reservation, and she confirmed it included a note about my late arrival. However, she then told me that only "basement rooms" were available--the same rooms the other guest had just been complaining about. She claimed the hotel was full, which seemed odd considering there were only about nine cars in the parking lot. The other unhappy guest returned and demanded a refund. He was told he'd have to call Marriott's customer service number, and he ended up leaving. At that point, I considered doing the same, but since it was nearly midnight and I had already prepaid, I reluctantly stayed. The room itself was clean but extremely dated. The furniture was old and worn, and the overall condition did not reflect the standard I expect from a Marriott property. Oh and I just looked at my credit card statement and they charged me for the room! I'll spare you further details, but my advice is simple: go somewhere else. read more

Nicely appointed hotel with clean carpets, rooms and linen. The gym had three treadmills, one elliptical and several free weights. The pool was small. Open from 7a-10p Breakfast had the basic scrambled eggs , turkey sausage, cereal, muffins, juice, fresh fruit, etc. Only about 3 miles from Old Town. This was a good choice in the area. read more

Our room was fairly decent. No paintings or artwork but was clean. It was two queen beds, a big bath and a small closet. Your basic breakfast and coffee and tea in the mornings. We were here for a chess tournament t the Gaylord Convention center, this location was close, about a 10 - 12 minute drive. And it's not far from downtown Alexandria and the restaurants there. read more

This was a quick hotel stop in Virginia. The management was very helpful. I think the only downside was that not all king rooms are suites. However, there is a pool and a hot tub, which are bonus points! There is breakfast offered in the am very friendly staff. I would definitely go back. read more

Very nice and clean, most of staff is very accommodating, except the late night check in lady (don't have her name) she was no where to be found for a good 10-15 min. I even recalling the hotel to see if I could find someone no response. Then finally she came in from outside??? In my opinion 5 days without cleaning is a bit much, but that's their Covid rules. I was lucky enough to find this Fairfield Inn with it only being open for a week. Having a hotel being open for only a few days could go either way, fortunately all went well. I traveled to Virginia from NY with a large group of family members and we occupied approximately 20 rooms. In my hotel search during a popular weekend there was almost nothing reasonable priced available in the DMV area. I was quite the skeptic because this location seemed to good to be true with all of its offerings, from free breakfast, close proximity to the National Harbor, Washington D.C. and its several amenities. The area is definitely experiencing a transition but at no point do you feel unsafe or lack options for finding food late it the evening. In order for a hotel to make me feel happy, they need a minimum of a modern room with a comfy bed, a clean bathroom and a nice hot shower. This Fairfield definitely met all my standards. The staff was very generous and welcoming to my loud and playful family members. The pool and hot tub was clean and the gym was always kept in a good condition. My experience wasn't perfect because there were a few minor check in issues, but we were a big group so it was to be understood. Also the entrance is bit awkward and can be easily missed. Also the shower curtain does not fit inside the shower well so the floor can get wet. None of the minor issues overshadowed my decent visit here. read more

As others have said, the staff is very courteous and accommodating. That's two stars. The hotel is loud at night. I called at 2:30 a.m. on a Monday due to a loud television (either in the lobby or in a nearby room) and was met with an "Oh." The noise did subside. The next night, a vacuum cleaner was briefly running outside my room at 11 p.m. The lobby needs soundproofing; the walking in the room above me at night was very loud. One of the desk staff informed me that the "walls were thin." Indeed; I ended up cancelling my last night and transferring to the Hilton in Old Town, which was far superior. The hot tub didn't work. The breakfast buffet is standard--scrambled eggs, sausage links, breads, yogurts, etc. Road warriors--the internet here is not up to snuff at all; you'll have a hard time working from your room if you need to. Regular Marriott customer (silver elite), and very brand-loyal. Stayed here for three nights twice within two weeks (selling my house in the area), and won't be back. read more

We stayed at the Fairfield Inn for 9 nights. Some things were great, some things needed improvement. Breakfast in the morning - I have stayed in several hotels over the years that offer free breakfast. I think it is great that the Fairfield is still offering free breakfast during this pandemic. However, several things could make it better. There was zero variety. breakfast every morning consisted of prewrapped egg, sausage and cheese sandwiches, bananas, cereal/oatmeal cups, bran or blueberry muffins, plain oatmeal with toppings and yogurt. On the weekends they also had prepackaged waffles. However, they were missing several normal items for breakfast - like butter, syrup and brown sugar for oatmeal. I stuck with oatmeal every day - but after 9 days I was ready for a change. The breakfast is one thing that Hyatt does much better! We also wish that there was coffee and hot water left out during the day. Pool/Hot Tub - In order to use the pool/hot tub you needed to make a reservation. Personally, I enjoyed this because it wasn't overrun with people. The hot tub did look like it could use a good scrub and the room could be a bit warmer - but overall it was a nice experience. Laundry - Upon checking in we asked if there was laundry available. We didn't want to go to our new location with over a week's worth of dirty laundry. We were told that there is a washer and dryer available, and we could go to the front desk to obtain quarters. It was $1.75 for a wash and $1.75 for dry. However, on our last night we tried to obtain quarters at the front desk. The girl working was extremely rude about them not having quarters and told us we would need to seek them elsewhere. Unimpressed with how were were treated - we went to several stores trying to obtain quarters and finally got them at Giant down the road. Bed/Pillows - I can honestly say the beds and pillows need improvement. We both woke up with back and shoulder pain. But, no hotel setup will ever be as good as home, right?!? Housekeeping - We kept receiving notices that housekeeping wasn't coming everyday, however, for the first part of our trip the maid was in our room daily. When our room was moved, the maid didn't come in again. The kicker of our stay was several days into the stay. When we checked in, we were given a room at the end of the hall. It was a great location as there wasn't much foot traffic and it was quiet and very clean (as I stated above the maid for this section came in daily despite being told there wasn't daily service). I went down to in the morning to get coffee and a few minutes after returning, my husband went into the bathroom. He told me not to go over there and immediately called the front desk. There was a dead mouse in the middle of the doorway into the bathroom. The manager, David Cook, was in our room within minutes to remove the mouse and sent housekeeping in to clean the bathroom. David compensated us for the night and moved our room to a suite for the remainder of our trip. He was very nice and we appreciated his management skills! The room we were moved into, while significantly larger was directly across from the elevator, quite loud and not nearly as clean as the other room. However, we did appreciate the additional space in the suite. It does have a decent location with several metro stations close by and lots of stores around. Target is directly across the street if you forget something at home. read more

Heather Brown, the AGM, did a wonderful job of working with the Marriott Bonvoy customer service to get it resolved. Our room was comfortable, and breakfast was "pretty good" to wow my son. First-- There is currently construction going on so if you miss the entrance you added couple more minutes. You would have to go back 95 and take another exit. Therefor my 4 star is because the signage isn't clear. IHOP sing is what gave it away thanks to me googling the place. The hotel is new! ( at least I think so base on how great everything looks) I thought it was pretty cool that the TV screen said "Hello Michelle". The channel lineup is nice includes HBO Showtime. The bed was so comfortable and huge (king size). The bathroom didn't have much space but I think because most space was in the tub- which was very nice. The bathroom was beautiful, clean and had better brand not the standard shampoo or conditioner in case you forget. Parking free. Breakfast is currently not happening due to the COVID-19, however you can pick up a breakfast bag. It's clean and pretty. Can't say much about amenities since many aren't open due to the current COVID 19 situation. read more

I'm sorry to leave this review as a Marriott tiered member for nearly 20 years. I'm the owner of a company and arrived at this hotel with my VP of BD late in the evening, and hotels in DC were booked or very expensive due to an event at the Convention Center. The staff was extremely nice - I will say that. 1. There was a guest smoking pot outside the front door, we walked through a haze of it checking in. 2. The bed's was uncomfortable, it seemed old and lumpy 3. the sheets seem old and when I checked, there was a hair in the center of the bed - ew. 4. The carpets need replacing or cleaning 5. The showers' have curtains (which I normally check before staying at a hotel..) and it had wiry hair stuck into it and I could not rinse it out. I quickly and carefully showered trying not to let the curtain with wiry hair touch touch me. I literally felt claustrophobia coming on feeling boxed into a dirty room and couldn't leave fast enough in the morning. (When I checked out at 8:45a-ish, come to find out my VP of BD must have run out of there even earlier than I did - she'd already checked out when she told me she was going to sleep in and get some rest.) 100% I will never be back here and would not recommend it - though I will repeat the staff is lovely. read more

My overnight stay was truly a pleasure. The reception staff was friendly and most welcoming to us. The room was clean, well appointed and spacious. I felt super safe, super comfortable. The closet door however squeaked so loud when opening and closing it that I was sure the guests down the hall could hear it. I wanted to start off this review by saying Sheri was an absolute pleasure and the definition of professionalism. That being said we were traveling 4 hours here and called the night before to make sure the hot tub was functioning, in which we were told it was, upon arrival we realized that wasn't the case. This ruined my girlfriends trip as we paid the extra money to stay here specifically for that amenity. Otherwise the hotel is very clean, but the bathroom had a constant smell of rotten eggs that wouldn't seem to go away. 5 stars for Sheri doing her absolute best to sympathize with our concerns , we appreciated the hospitality. read more

The staff was professional, and the facility extremely clean.  All is a direct reflection of Sheri, the manager my wife met.  Sheri gave my wife details of the facility, asked the right questions, and recommended a specific room to meet our needs.  This is hands-on servant leadership, exceptional customer care, an approach that resulted in customer satisfaction.  My spouse was impressed.  After visiting several other hotels had no issues deciding this location as her top choice.  It was the perfect place to spend 14 days while in transition.  During our stay, whenever we called for assistance, the staff always responded quickly and appropriately.  Due to an outstanding team, a clean facility inside and out, we had a wonderful stay and plan to return to this location very soon.  Thanks again for showing us how much you care for those who stay at your site. My mother's car was hit in the parking lot in a hit an run 12/3. The front desk person showed us that our car was in view of the camera and would get back to us when he contacted corporate for the footage. This was 12/3 And as of 12/6 no response. The general manager texted my mother that "unfortunately I won't put much hope on it". Who says that to someone? Still waiting camera footage for the police. Stayed there last night and the lady checking me in was Fabulous. The room was average but a bit bare. It would have been nice to have 2 chairs & a little table by the window & a pen & notepad but no big deal. The shocker came the next morning as I was coming back in the lobby from putting something in my car & witnessed the rudest general manager I have ever seen in my life, Mary Laluces. That short arrogant man proceeded to rudely argue with a hotel guest who was locked out of his room because his key didn't work after picking up his breakfast from the IHOP inside. He had his reservation in his phone, his broken key card, his pajamas on etc & rude Marby wouldn't give him a new card because he didn't have his ID which was locked in his room. Then Marby wouldn't even give the man his name so he could call the owner. Then I got my breakfast certificate from another desk agent & only took one instead of 2 since I was alone. Went in the IHOP without any cash & ordered. I didn't realize you could only coffee OR juice with it & ordered both. When I was done I got a bill for the juice but the waitress said I could use my 2nd certificate for the juice. Went back in the hotel to get it & jacka** Marby wouldn't give it to me and got mad at me that I didn't read the small print on the certificate! I paid for 2 breakfasts with my room and he's denying me from having it. Finally he came in the IHOP & told them to give me the juice instead of just giving me the certificate so my waitress could cover what she rang in. Totally ridiculous and Marby needs to be fired. Period. I've been traveling for work for 20 years & never in my life seen a manager that ride with no customer service skills at all. Go somewhere else! This is a wonderful hotel. The staff will cater to your every wish and desire. Make sure to ask for Efrain Balbuena, their head of housekeeping. He will provide sexual favors and he actively cruises Craigslist and invites people to come penetrate his anus during his work shift. He is off on weekends though so be sure to book a stay during the week. David, the manager has been told about the service Efrain provides but is too ignorant to actually do something about it. The hotel is still quite new and just off the Richmond highway. Plenty of parking and free hot breakfast. We always stay at Marriott properties when traveling. It's about 25-30 minute drive from the center of DC. Clean hotel and friendly front desk. Will stay again! read more

I'm rating a 3 because all staffs I met are nice except for one mid age lady who I just had a 'lovely conversation' with. So me and my girlfriend were on spring break visiting DC. We chose to stay here based on the ratings on Kayak. Everything went pretty well until tonight, I simply asked a lady at the front desk a question regarding TV charges. Here is exactly what happened, I asked if YouTube is free to watch on TV because I wasn't sure since YouTube is connected to the internet. First of all, she gave me a weird look as if she doesn't understand what I was saying. Then I explained my concern to her, she was so impatient and told me that she doesn't know anything about it and nobody ever approached her asking about this kind of questions. I politely asked her again to check for me if possible. she sighed loudly in front of me as if I am wasting her time and I clearly remember the way she was talking to me and the attitude I was getting from her. WOW, I know it's not a 5 star hotel but I don't like the way I was being treated. read more
