This market has almost everything food-related. Vietnamese, Spanish, African, and more that I don't remember. There's a bunch of delis all around the edges of the market. There's also boba, coffee, I think a Christian bakery, candy, produce, and other foods and drinks that don't perish as fast, such as pastas, and other boxed & canned goods. There is also a family restaurant, I went there and it was amazing, the breakfast is top tier, although I have no pictures. The few vendors we went to were direct and seem experienced. The whole place looks lively and like (at least) the staff actually want to be there. read more

We walked through the big building, checked out their 65 vendors and saw a ton of candy & snacks, deli food, restaurants and food stalls, flowers & plants, meats, milk & ice cream, pastries & bread, poultry & eggs, fruits & vegetables, seafood, coffees and teas, wine, and more. We stopped at Leininger's Quality Meats to scoop up some beef sticks and beef jerky. Now that beef jerky was some serious beef jerky. Huge slabs with a sticky glaze that smelled like they just came out of a smoker. They were delicious, they were freaking fabulous! I also enjoyed shooting the breeze with the very cool proprietor of "Unique & Antique Collectibles & Unusual Stuff". We chatted about the rock and roll memorabilia market, the value of vinyl LP's, and old issues of Rolling Stone magazine. The guy was a hoot- definitely the kind of guy I'd love to have a beer with and talk about collectibles. Boscov's Fairgrounds Farmers Market was an excellent place to visit. read more

What is there to not like about this place? Every vendor is fantastic. My family and I frequent every Saturday. The food, prepared and raw produce, is fresh and delicious. Everything is top notch. One of the best eateries in the market is the diner/restaurant next to the office. Hearty breakfasts and specials. They can properly cook eggs to order. They also know how to properly cook scrapple. They serve a thicker premium breakfast sausage. And the soup,sandwich with fries special is well worth the 15 minute trip for a decent and fair price lunch. Came here on a whim with my husband. We were delighted with the food and variety within this market. But more importantly, this one particular doughnut shop. This was truly the best Boston Cream I have ever had in my entire life. Large, fluffy, sweet but not TOO sweet. Just wow. I wish I took a whole box home! This is a mecca of treats! There is something here for EVERYONE. Fresh meats, cheeses, fruit, veggies, baked goods, candy, and even places to snag a bite to eat while shopping. If I lived here I would be doing some serious grocery shopping here. Prices seem comparable if not BETTER than most major grocery store chains. Meat definitely falls in the better prices category. The nice thing is that your food is FRESH and you have the ability to ask the workers "where does this product come from? How do you make it/raise it/grow it?" It's nice to know WHERE your food comes from. Many of the vendors are Amish and make a great product. They all seem to be very friendly and happy to answer questions. I was honestly taken aback by another post saying this was expensive. Just like when you go to different grocery stores for different sales, you have many vendors here with different prices. We were in search for a specific ring balogny. Our strategy? Walk around once looking at all the vendors for the cheapest price of the SAME product. Score! Found the Hippies Ring Balogny from a vendor for $3.99/pound , some were selling the same product for $5/pound. Walk around, eat samples, ask questions, and find the best price. You won't leave dissapointed and you are truly helping LOCAL farms and businesses. read more

Country BBQ corner had a variety of meats. I chose the ribs which were fall off the bone melt in your mouth satisfaction! I got the mushrooms and baked mac and cheese as sides. Mushrooms were good and mac and cheese was fair. Their fruit punch was not good. It came out of a fountain. They had other dinners i would love to come back and try! I also tasted a cinnamon doughnut from center stand bakery that was located just steps from Country Corner. It had white icing on the top and was cinnamon doughnut. Wow! Never had one of those or heard of them either. It was soft and moist, the bomb. I visited the tea and coffee shop and purchased some loose tea and coffee. Wide wide selection of teas. You should really check it out. Overall experience was great. I only wish it was closer to me. read more

In my opinion this is the best farmer's market in the area. It's not the prettiest or the most eclectic, but for quality of food, it's the best. Some of the stars: 1. The Mennonite broasted chicken right by the main entrance is as good at it gets. Try it and tell me if I'm wrong. 2. Monte Lauro for Italian foodstuff and supplies. Up popped "Fairgrounds Farmers Market". the reviews looked good, the pics looked decent, it was a farmers market and we were in Amish country, how bad can it really be?. Just to be on the safe side we asked the P.A. family if they heard of it and if it was really that good? before we could even finish they were like oh,yeah, The Farmers Market, you'll love it. case closed. lets go. Walking in, my nose immediately filled with the smells of roasting chickens and apple pie and all the wholesome homey goodies freshly made. It was really like a maze in this place twisting and turning isles of rows and rows of food. I wanted everything. We came up to one of the first stalls and decided on it. everything looked too good and we were soo hungry, that we just settled on the first one. lucky us. we ordered homemade maple sausage, fresh cut potatoes (French fries), mac and cheese, and crispy chicken wings ( no sauce). everything was amazing! you can tell the quality, and the freshness of everything we had ordered. Well, after all every person in this place was Amish even the cooks, and they take their farming and food serious!!. The chicken wings were to die for! i so wanted another order, but we had a dinner event later on and i didn't want to get too full. The one thing I did not get to try at Fairgrounds, which my P.A. family kept raving about was something called "broasted chicken". good thing they were serving it at the dinner event, and omg! the Amish broast seriously good! it was so juicy but crispy on the outside but not greasy omg! As soon a you walk in Fairgrounds they have a broasted chicken station right their pulling everyone in! yum! I also tried their freshly brewed iced teas. I had the cherry iced tea, best iced tea i've ever had, hands down. I wish they had it out here. For dessert we had a peanut butter donut and a cream donut, both equally delicious. especially the peanut butter, my first time having it and it was awesome. I live in the Phoenix area and I travel to Reading at least once a year with my wife to spend time with her family. The Fairground Farmers Market is something I look forward to each visit. It's a foodie fantasy land! Fresh produce, meats, sandwiches, cakes, doughnuts, cheeses and on and on and on. There's nothing like it in the Phoenix area. I'd trade all the fancy restaurants and gourmet shops in Scottsdale in an instant for the Fairgrounds Farmers Market. Now I'm getting hungry. And I'm in Phoenix. Darn. read more

Love visiting this market! Not only can you find farm fresh produce and meats, there are also many ethnic and gourmet food stands as well. We like to get a bit to eat from several stands then pick a table on the center to share all our food. Last trip we split jambalaya, Vietnamese hoagie, pizza, and truffled goat cheese fries. Where else can you get such a mix? The food stands are always much fresher and less expensive than the grocery store. It's a win win all the way around. As a side note, I like that this market is primarily food. Unlike other local markets that also hold flea sales, which amount to people selling their old garbage. read more

It's a Saturday morning and I'm wishing I were here. But I'm in Rhode Island. Where farmer's markets are just getting off the ground, upper-crust and crazy-expensive. I wish someone told me, before I moved away, that there is no place quite like this on the planet so enjoy it while it lasts, but I probably wouldn't have believed it. Now that I appreciate it, I will never return to PA without a long, gluttonous sensory-indulgent visit to the farmer's market. MY GAWD! Is this place hard to find if you don't know your way around. It is in the FAIRGROUNDS shopping mall, right across the way from JC Penney's. The GPS kept on saying it was HERE! But HERE was actually THERE, and we passed it 3 times. It is worth the trip. Fun to walk around even if you aren't buying anything. I meet a friend halfway and we like to sit and talk. That's hard to do in regular restaurants cause they always want to get you moving. Here- we bought chicken salad, broccolli salad from a vendor. And I had the pierogies and golumpki from the Polish stand. (Have you read Mennonite in a black dress?) And we sat at the communal tables and spent over 3 hours in uninterrupted conversation. read more

Lots to see and buy here at the markets: a wide variety from poultry and meats, eggs, baked goods, Italian shops, seafood, antiques/collectibles, cigars, wine and much more. Fresh produce, wine, meats, cheese, candy, you name it. The prices are affordable and make it easier to pick out what's fresh. It is a great place to pick out prepared food too. I worked at one of the veggie stands as a teenager. I shopped there every week with my parents. I now live in a different state, but every time I am home I make sure to stop by for something yummy! I am so please with all the expansions they have done! So many new stands...and ones that are actually willing to ship items as well. I have never had a bad experience here, and have always taking home fresh and delicious veggies, candy, meats, cheese, etc you name it I had it.... I would love to give this establishment more stars, since I have been going here since 2007 and was very happy until recently. Two weeks ago I went to the Country Lane Poultry & Produce stand. I have been going to this stand for 12 YEARS. I have raised my son on its fruits and vegetables, despite slightly higher prices. This last visit owner Donna Stoltzfoos waited on me. She overcharged me by a couple bucks and as I walked away I realized something was wrong. I turned around and went back and explained to Donna that I felt the price wasn't correct. She took my bags and counted the items. She claimed items were taken out of the bag. (this would explain HER price she set for me) THIS WOULD ALSO MAKE ME A DISHONEST PERSON. after patronizing this stand, with its high prices, and feeling many times I may have been overcharged (THE WOMEN TAKE THE ITEMS AND HOLD THEM IN THE BACK AND USE CALCULATORS) this is the thanks I get. DONNA STOLTZFOOS wanted to cover up her error by blaming someone else. In this case, her loyal customer of 12 YEARS! This accusation ended in us exchanging "words", mainly she defended her actions over and over with one EXCUSE after another. She used her Mennonite and Amish staff to back her up, and they did. I wonder if she gives her staff health insurance coverage or takes taxes out for them? Really, I am not the thief and crook here....wrong lady accused. I just want to share my experience with others who go to this farmers market. In case your purchases at COUNTRY LANE POULTRY & PRODUCE don't add up either. This is an incredible place with an unbelievable amount of selection. I could probably spend $500 each time I visit if I allowed myself to do so. You can even buy local wine from here if you want! I'd suggest getting here at open on a Friday morning if you can to ensure you don't run into a crowd. I go every chance I get. I Buy baked goods from the dutch maid stand mostly the mini eclairs and cookies. I buy friend chicken from the first food stand to the left they also sell fresh eggs. Definitely worth a visit if you're a foodie. Great Italian, Amish Food, Pierogis made fresh, Mexican food, even a quite good Southern creole stand await you here. I heard this place was incredible and didn't believe it since I really haven't heard about it, but a great surprise. Good bakery stands, Middle Eastern food and fresh produce. Plenty of seating available for sitting down to a meal. Fresh poultry, raw milk, incredible homemade pretzels. You can almost fill up on all the free samples available. I enjoy going to the Farmers Market every weekend, they have great stands from everything from fruit and veggies, to meat, seafood, cakes, donuts, bread, organic and Jewish items, etc etc. Clover Hill winery also has a stand there. While you are there are also different pizza stands, and also stands that sell pet items, as well as other stands that sell other misc items. The worst part is that they don't even want to work a full three days. Most of the vendors consistently close an hour to an hour and a half before the market closes. This place is fantastic. The produce from all of the vendors is fresh, tasty, and inexpensive. The meat vendors have specialities. My favorite has maple bacon. Maple. Bacon. Delicious. The restaurants are excellent. The Sandwich Shop has the BEST cheesesteaks I've ever had (and I'm from Philly), the Vietnamese place has really, really good Pho with super fresh ingredients, and the Greek place's salads are all amazing. Lbs and Oz is my go-to for dried fruits, coffee, and ingredients for cooking at home (flours, grains, sugars, spices, and have A TON of gluten free options as well). I would be remiss if I didn't mention the Dutch Maid bakery. You have to get there early for their selection of cheesecake bars but omg are they worth it! Their donuts are fresh, soft, and super tasty. I haven't had their cakes but based on everything else I've had there (and how delicious they look!) I'd say they are a safe bet too. If you are in the area definitely stop in and check it out. So much good stuff. My only complaint is that they aren't open every day! read more
