Our entire experience has been exceptional! All communication has been super-fast, both prior to and after inspection. We communicated mostly through email, and response time was within minutes! Though not required, we decided to be present though the entire inspection. James was on-site early, very friendly, and extremely helpful in answering all our questions during the inspection. He was clearly thorough and observant with his inspection. And agile too! He was up on the roof of the four-story house, in the rain, without batting an eye. And he navigated the crawl space and attic with ease. He pointed out several things as he was going through the house, and was very patient with our questions. After the inspection, our minds were completely at ease. While we were expecting the report the following day, we actually received it within hours after the inspection. The report was very thorough and professional. He also sent along the full 261 pictures he had taken. After inspecting the photos we noticed a bit of insulation that looked a bit dark, and were worried it might be mold. We talked to James about the photo and our concerns. Just to be certain it wasn't mold, he returned to the house, removed the insulation, and inspected closely (sending additional photos) showing that it had just been some dirt. Truly above and beyond all expectations! We're now buying our home worry free!

She said they were the best and honestly, I could not have been better served. James the owner came over from Victoria to conduct the home inspection himself. He was prompt and professional and made himself available to answer all my questions on site as the inspection progressed. This was followed by a thorough and comprehensive report three days later as promised, with photographs and clear assessments of existing issues as well as potential future ones to keep an eye on. But the best part was not just James' clear competency but the sense of personal integrity and care that he took. This allowed me to feel confident that what I was seeing was really going to be what I was getting. Since I was buying a property that I only got to see a few times and in a different country than where I currently live, this gave me a lot of invaluable peace of mind. Great recommendation from my realtor!

When you buy a condo, there are a few things in it that you would be expecting to use on an almost daily basis. Things like the washer, the dryer or the dishwasher. One would think that when you hire a company to do a $500 "Ultimate Condo Inspection", they would take these things into consideration, and spend a few minutes during their inspection to test. Well, not so with Pillar to Posts.  My mom used them to check out a condo that she was getting ready to buy. After closing the deal and moving into her new condo, she ran the first load of dishes. Within a few minutes, a noticeable amount of water began leaking from the bottom of the dishwasher and into the kitchen.  It immediately freaked her out, so she called me for assistance. Best case scenario, around $500-$1,000 to replace the dishwasher. Worst case scenario, tens of thousands of dollars in potential water damage to the unit or the units below over the last number of years. When you hire a professional to perform a home inspection, especially an "Ultimate Home Inspection", you'd expect them to stand behind their work, wouldn't you? With Pillar to Posts, this was not the case. We waited days between responses regarding the issue - even though it could have been a mistake indicating tens of thousands of dollars of damage. Even after multiple back and forths clearly stating that we wanted them to rectify the issue, they would not accept any responsibility for it. Their responses to this issue varied from "We only do a quick on/off test as a courtesy to you", "It's in the fine print that we're not required to test them", "Our inspection is not a warranty of any kind" to it was outside the scope of my inspection and even if I had checked it it may not have leaked for me". To the business, I would suggest updating your guidelines to spending an extra 10 minutes to test any water-connected appliances. To conclude, I would think twice before trusting this company with the inspection of your new home. If they miss a crucial part of the inspection, it could cost you tens of thousands of dollars without recourse from them.

At the recommendation of our friends who had just had a home inspection done by them, we called Pillar to Post We received excellent friendly service, they had the right tools, were knowledgeable, thorough and went the extra mile for us, and it looks like they have been able to discern the problem and now we can go ahead getting the right people to fix it. What a relief! Thank you Marty and your team, you certainly went above and beyond to help us rectify this ongoing problem. A very grateful customer and I highly recommend them.
