Good advice to planners of these types of events, alittle quiet please so those sincere appreciators can enjoy and shop. People with dogs should understand it's not a dog show, your dog loves you but not the heat of blacktop, crowds and noise. To those people who's parents never teaching the art of etiquette, using interrupting behavior makes you appear classless. It doesn't help in sales or elsewise.

Some of my finds included a Corian trivet shaped like a turtle, and I got our niece one that's shaped like a mermaid. I also bought a spoon made from Corian with a notch on it so it can rest on the side of the pot. I bought a print of the Middle Bay lighthouse painted by a retired fireman. I bought two prints of sea turtles painted by an up and coming artist named Gary Pope, Jr. My friend Bev kept telling him he should increase his prices before I paid for mine. She's totally right, but wait until after I buy mine. My favorite local photographer/candle maker was there selling her candles and wax melts and I loaded up. That's Lynn Jordan/Bon Secour Candle Company, in case you're wondering. I bought Jasmine a tutu from a booth that had everything you could possibly want for your pet. Of course I bought some pottery. I got the most fabulous and practical utensil holder with crabs on it for only $36! I wanted so much more and the prices were great. In addition to what we bought, we saw wood bowls, gorgeous and well-made handcrafted jewelry, paintings, clothing, address plaques and so much more. There were several food stands as well and some live music. This festival is not huge. We walked in in a matter of a couple of hours and saw everything. It's really a can't miss annual event. There's no admission and parking is free.

I got a try for my honey and I was surprised how well she did, but it's tough.  The Baldwin County Strawberry Festival began in 1987 as a way to honor the area's strawberry farmers and their contributions to the local economy. Originally held on the first Saturday in May, the event took place in downtown Loxley before moving to its current location at the Loxley Municipal Park in 1999. The festival date was also changed to the second weekend in April to better align with the strawberry harvest season. Not only was everyone friendly but there were a variety of vendors and a great selection of produce, vegetables, baked goods, and more. The setup was great, very organized and clean. Well laid out. We left with fresh sourdough, jalapeño cheddar bread, lemon cake, chicken salad, seafood salad, cookies, micro greens, parsley, and fresh strawberries that taste so sweet! We were both so glad we stopped here. And now we have lunch for the next few days!

My husband and I attended the Baldwin County Fair in Robertsdale on Friday, August 19, 2025 and we…read morewere so pleasantly surprised by the kindness shown right at the gate. As we walked up, the lady at the ticket table noticed my husband's veteran ID and asked if he was a Veteran. When he said yes, she kindly let us know that veterans were admitted free of charge. What an incredible gesture! It really touched us that the fair takes the time to honor and acknowledge our veterans in this way. The fair itself was wonderful--smaller, very family-oriented, and welcoming. The food was delicious, and we especially enjoyed the bucket of fries and a classic corn dog. Prices were very reasonable, even lower than what we're used to paying at our local fair in Mobile, and that was another pleasant surprise. This was our very first time attending the Baldwin County Fair, but it will certainly not be our last. The entire atmosphere was friendly and inviting, and it made for such an enjoyable evening. Thank you to the staff and volunteers who helped make the fair so special, and a very heartfelt thank-you again for honoring veterans. That one simple act of kindness made our night, and it showed us what a thoughtful and community-centered fair Baldwin County has to offer. Thank you for such great hospitality.

Mystics of Time displays the fire breathing dragons and they roll on the Saturday evening before Fat Tuesday. Like all Mobile Mardi Gras parades, this one is very family friendly. The kids and adults alike will be amazed with all of the elaborately decorated floats, and particularly the four dragons. One is a tall, green, smoke breathing, dragon. Three of the most famous, Verna (pink), Dean (blue and green) and Vernadean (orange), are long, winding, self-propelled fire breathing dragons that roll through the streets seemingly alive. Of course, Father Time makes his grand appearance during the MOT parade. The throws are plentiful, and the excitement of the revelers makes it even more fun. This is THE can't miss parade of the year!
