The pool area is pretty big, so you can have space to yourself even with classes and trainings going on. I give them credit for having rules about bringing opposite sex school age children in the women's dressing room. But there are still opposite sex school age children in the women's dressing and ignoring the family dressing room next door. Maybe the signs shouldn't be in English only. The main pool is a bit chilly and I get why that is. The leisure pool is lovely and warm but very splashy, even in the deep end. The spa, except for children in it (there's an over 18 policy) is great. It prevented post-exercise leg cramps for me. I signed up a class, they neglected to tell me I had to buy special equipment for it. I am glad this pool is 4 minutes driving time away. The employees could use some enforcement authority about the rules. read more

I come here whenever I am in the area to do lap swims or hydrotherapy in the spa. The staff is attentive and the locker room is cleaned and mopped regularly. Today, the summer camp staff are active with the children and water activities. read more

Senior Zumba Aquatics class boombox takes over the airwaves typically needed by 40 other pool people in the water - including one other Water Aerobics class, at the other wnd of the pool, and many water walkers and lap swimmers...So, truth-be-told, there OK is an arrogance and a reserved animosity amongst teachers and patrons alike - which could easily disappear under the Golden Rule! COVID REVIEW: It's finally open again!!! They're taking precautions such as mask requirement when out of the water, temperature screening, no locker room use, one way in & out, etc. it was SO NICE to be back in a pool!! I've been in open water, but sometimes a pool is nice! What I did NOT understand is why they take you out of the water 15 before the hour?!?! I expected to see some cleaning, wiping down of the pool stairs, more chlorine in the water or SOMETHING! NO, we just stood there for 15 minutes then got back in the water. Oh well. This location for swim meets is a nightmare experience! There is very limited seating so you have parents and kids standing everywhere with nowhere to move, causing multiple fire hazard and safety issues. Avoid. read more

Facilities are nice but: Senior classes are too early in the day. Pool and ice rink close often for meets so not very supportive of the local community. Lifeguards not the most attentive and don't enforce rules such as swim diapers on toddlers so the leisure pool is out of commission more than necessary. read more

Don't pay any attention to the hours posted; they are mostly wrong. The pool is closed every weekend in February because of swim meets. It may be closed every weekend after that as well, who knows. The point to remember is that you should never, ever count on using this pool as a community pool to swim in, because more often than not, it is reserved for swim meet, and it will not be posted on their website. For people who work M-F and want to swim on the weekend, it is a joke. It is likely closing early other days as well, so, unless you have all week/month/year to lounge around hoping that somehow there will be a posted time and date that they are actually open for public swimming, forget it. This is a government pool, so this is what you get. If you need access to a pool for swimming laps, or for your kids to swim/play in the water, you will have to go somewhere else. read more

I found this place for swim lessons when my son was an infant. It is perfect. It's super clean, accommodating and the instructors are so great! I love this place, it's perfect for the cold months and even for the warm ones! They also have a couple of private changing rooms that are perfect for families with small hard to wrangle littles. read more

Played tennis here tonight. I usually play outside but we got rained out and just dropped in. Solid courts and reasonably priced. It'll be good for the sunny and cold days. Hopefully not a lot of people discover this hidden gem. read more

My children are in a club that uses a room in this center for arts development and education. Prior to that we did not know the center existed..! Having used other aquatic centers in the DMV area, this is a lovely one. The customer service is exceptional despite the facility always being packed whenever we're there. The pools are a nice size and we observed the diligence and professionalism of its instructors. My children enjoyed this facility to much that they have requested enrollment in swimming lessons and we will do just that..! read more

Our only experience with Fairlands has been with the Maryland Suburban Swim Club. This is our daughter's "winter swim team" and the coaches and facility are excellent! We've been to practices and meets and even served in the snack shop. All experiences have been great! read more

Friendly and professional staff, and a nice atmosphere. I used to come here back in high school for swim team practice and I go about few times a year with my daughter whenever I'm in Maryland. There's a lap area, open swim area, and a small kinds area of the pool. There are 2 large pools. Upstairs you can eat snacks, use the restroom and just people watch. My only issue is that there is a huge area for people to come swim laps, and then a small 4 foot pool crammed into the corner for family/recreational swim. I bring my daughter here to play around in the gymnastics area, and she absolutely loves it. We also attended carnival day last weekend, and had a lot of fun. The staff is always friendly and helpful. As far as pools go, there are better ones in the area for recreational purposes. Overall this place has a lot to offer. read more

I am giving 2 stars because the front desk is completely incompetent on the gymnastics side. I have had my children in here for nearly 2 years now and the front desk always acts slow when u call to ask a question about ANYTHING. (Also I was sent collection notices because my daughter's payment was placed on the wrong account after I explained their dad and I had separate accounts and the assured me they would put each payment on the correct allotted account.) I don't even bother now I just wait until I'm there as I know it's going to be a headache to communicate with them. My daughter did have a wonderful coach named Ms.Jen last class. Now she is on a competitive team and the new coach that is kind of rough around the edges. I would move to the Landover MD location but I live in Laurel MD and own a business close by so this will have to do til I'm less needed at my spa The Beach House Spa. read more

As a pool, I never liked this fitness center. It's been here as long as I can remember and hasn't changed a bit. I recently was clued into their open gymnastics for kids. You pay $5 for an hour to let your children run around (supervised by you) in the gymnastics gym. My son loves to freedom, new things to climb on and open space. The staff 'supervising' is hit or miss. I have not been impressed so far. We always come home covered in chalk, which is to be expected and the last two times with colds as well. It's not a bad place or a bad deal, but it could be a lot more. read more

This is where you need to be for your Sunday swim time with the kids. Arrive early and be done by the couple of hours it takes your little ones to get exhausted. Ample hours clean facility and great service. Looking forward to our time this coming winter to be in the water. read more

Love this place! It's pretty big and most days the hot tub works and their shower is awesome.

This is a great place to bring your kids for gymnastics, tennis and swimming lessons. Very clean, professional environment. Good customer service by the front desk personnel. They are very patient with people asking stupid questions. Only complaint is that the fitness room is very small. read more

I visited the Complex last year. I was going to try water walking. It was great fun. I came any time the lane was opened for walking. I bought a monthly pass and used it at least once a week. I had been doing senior fitness classes for many years but I needed a change. I have been not been attending this season because of other commitments. I am looking forward to resuming this exercise program real soon. read more

I love coming here - all the workout classes are essentially a la carte, so no membership needed, you only pay for what you take. And my favorite classes are Tracey's Monday Step class, and Stan's Kickboxing classes. Both are very tough and a great workout. I lost a total of 28 pounds since I started coming here (and I was 145 when I started, so I wasn't terribly fat to begin with). read more

A friend and I recently decided to get fit and try the water aerobics at The Fairland Aquatic Center. We've now attended 3 different classes over a week and we've been very impressed! The facility is very clean and well taken care of especially for such a busy place. The women's locker room is clean too!The staff from front desk, to lifeguards, those taking care of the pool and the class teachers are very helpful, nice and happy! My daughter takes gymnastics classes here. It is a very popular program judging by how crowded the place gets. But they seem to be well organized and my daughter really enjoys it. Registration can be frustrating since pg county kids get priority and spots go very quickly. read more
