I came to Winnipeg for a business trip and stayed on the Fairmont Gold floor for a week. My experience at this hotel was hands down the best I've ever had. It was my first time visiting Canada and the staff went above and beyond to celebrate my arrival. My room was wonderful, I had great views of the city and the bed was extremely comfortable- I didn't want to leave! Staying on Fairmont's gold floor had me feeling as if I were royalty. I loved the breakfast spread and the evening appetizers served in the lounge. Food was so fresh and you could tell it was all prepared in house by the chefs. I ordered room service a few times and this is how I fell in love with Winnipegs famous honey dill sauce. The one factor that made my stay unforgettable was how kind and attentive the staff are. From the doormen, housekeeping, Fairmont gold team members and general manager- they all truly made my stay so very special. So many issues it's hard to know where to start. Fairmont hotels are usually quite high-quality, this one obviously fell through the cracks. For our girls weekend we booked a three room suite. There were plumbing issues in all three rooms. One room had a mystery leak on the bathroom floor, one room had a toilet that would not flush correctly and the third room did not have any water via the cold tap, and when using the hot tap , the knob literally came off in our hand. The lack of water in room number three was an ongoing issue according to the maintenance man who had to be called to deal with the plumbing issues, yet the management chose to put us in this suite, and also chose not to tell us about the issues. Plumbing problems seemed to carry on throughout the building as the whirlpool in the swimming pool area was out of service as well. Additional problems were as follows; the sofa bed in middle room was extremely uncomfortable, a metal bar across your back, and an unnatural tilt to the bed. There were no extra blankets provided in any of the three rooms, however, a call to the front desk produced a beautiful duvet within minutes... Thank you housekeeping. Every room had a Keurig but the pods provided were undrinkable. After a bit of a fuss, a carafe with fresh coffee and accoutrements were delivered... Thank you room service. The carpet was buckling, and the furniture was well used with numerous nicks on the legs, etc.. Upon checking out, we notified the staff of our disappointment and the plumbing issues. The man at the desk seemed disinterested in our bad experience, and after approximately 15 minutes of waiting for a bill, it was finally provided with no apologies or discounts. Classic businessman hotel with a kind staff. The location is a little weird if you want to go out for a bite - while it's in downtown, there aren't a lot of choices for dining in the adjacent area. But the hotel itself has a nice enough restaurant and a cozy little bar. The rooms are just what you'd expect. Le Labo toiletries make for a nice bath experience. When I checked in on Tuesday about 5:30pm, it had been a tiring day traveling ... delayed flight and brutal traffic coming from the airport. I just wanted to get in my room and relax. I was told that my room wasn't ready. Not ready at 5:30pm??!! Huh?? I could either wait 'til 6pm or I could take a smoking room. Neither option was acceptable. So she found a room that was ready but then spent 20 minutes juggling whoever was going to be staying in it for the next three days ... as I'm standing there! I'm sure she could have given me my key and let me be on my way (I had let her know I was tired and cranky) and did all that afterwards. The room itself is okay ... it's the same room as any other hotel. Nothing special. I expected more because it's a Fairmont. I was told that self-parking is $13 and valet parking is $20 a night. I opted for the valet parking. When I looked at my bill this morning, I see that valet parking is actually $23 a night. The Internet charge is $20 a night. In this day and age, WIFI should be free. Most hotels don't charge for it. If you join the Fairmont Club, it's apparently free. I have a Bell Internet stick so used that. I ran a bath on Tuesday night. It took a while because the water was a mere dribble. The water pressure isn't great at all at times :( My remote didn't work. I asked to have it checked the next day and after that it was fine. The mini fridge was locked. All I wanted was a bottle of water. So I asked for a key on Wednesday (day two). The girl at the front desk asked me I was sure it was locked. I've been opening fridges all my life so knew it was locked. She gave me a key. When I opened it, I found a key for it locked inside. Huh??!! I had breakfast in the restaurant yesterday. It was good, though the service wasn't all that warm and fuzzy. I had supper last night in the lounge. The server was friendly but my Red Thai Chicken was basically an expensive Lean Cuisine ($17). I would have expected that they would use real chicken rather than frozen processed chicken. I wouldn't stay here again because there's not much around and the area is surprisingly sketchy. I was walking around last evening looking for a restaurant for supper and a drunk guy yelled at me, "Hey Blonde Chick ... can you spare some change." There are blockades so you can't cross the street to head down to Portage or Main ... you have to go downstairs through pedestrian walk (like going into a subway station) and pop back up on the other side. That's annoying and I wasn't sure how safe it was in the evening (because there's no one around). So I dodged around the blockades and ran across the busy street (probably illegal). On the plus side, there are some good restaurants nearby. I had lunch at Johnny G's (pub grub ... good), and supper at Tre Visi (Italian ... excellent) and Bailey's (fine dining/pub grub... so-so). Alas, they close early (about 9pm). That's why I ended up in the lobby lounge last night. The shining glory of this hotel are their valet parking guys. They are amazing! I had to do seminars three times a day and after the first day they anticipated my schedule and had the car waiting for me. And they were always so friendly and greated me by name every time. Have been here less than 2 hours....Not great so far, room is very old and run down carpets stained, last bathroom Reno must have been in 1972! Room safe didn't work, repairman brought another one, just left it on the desk didn't swap it out so it's not secured to anything, restaurant isn't open just the lounge, remotes doesn't work had to call for another...... let's see what's next! read more

For the price I got about $130USD a night, I don't think you'll find a better spot. I don't love the location on a Sunday since it was completely dead, but M-F it is pretty convenient if you're a business person. This area of Winnipeg is pretty small, and it's pretty central with some really highly rated restaurants a few block aways, the Osborne Village (a pretty charming lil' neighborhood) only about a 20 min walk, and the Assinniboine only about a 10 min or so walk. The $7 Fiji water wasn't worth it and the food menu is savagely over priced. No matter how large my expense account is*, I would never think about eating from it. The rooms are nice and dare I say/assume recently remodeled? The bed is beyond comfy. The bathroom is small, but that beautiful tiled shower with the little ledge and the rain shower head? Hey now. Did I mention that there was a brand spanking new LG flat tv? 'Cause there was and it was perfect for my CBC fix. Staff is extremely professional. Make sure to sign up to the free presidents club to ensure you become part of their loyalty program and get that free internet. I'd 100% stay here again when coming back to Winnipeg. *Not large at all, I can't afford that $20 smoothie yo. read more

Four stars for the Fairmont Winnipeg! Let's start with the staff; they were so nice! That whole friendly Manitoba thing? Not a joke here, folks. The doormen were always friendly and eager to help me out, the front desk staff were quite friendly, and when my room key didn't grant me access on the second day of my stay, they fixed the issue quickly and apologetically. The bartender in the lounge area was also a nice guy. So yeah... that tagline's definitely not a misnomer. The hotel room itself was appointed rather nicely with comfy beds, nicer linens, an in-room Keurig, and higher end bath products. I found it easy to settle in, though, as another reviewer mentioned, the décor does feel a bit dated. It's a Fairmont, certainly, but it feels as though it might be time for just a bit of a facelift at this location. That said, it doesn't take much to keep me happy in that department. While I certainly appreciate a well-decorated room, clean and comfy comes first, always. The gym facilities are more than adequate (better than I've seen in many hotels!) and there's also a pool, hot tub, and locker rooms with changing areas. Were I shelling of my own accord and not traveling for work, I think I'd agree that the price point given the actuality of the hotel quality in comparison with other, similarly priced accommodations elsewhere might feel a bit high. That said, lots of folks noted that this might be the nicest hotel in Winnipeg... maybe that has something to do with it? Overall, I'd definitely stay at the Fairmont again should I find myself in Winnipeg in the near future. Absolutely loved my stay at the Fairmont. I got an amazing deal on priceline and it was a welcome respite after a four day camping trip. Beautiful lobby and January, who checked us in was very friendly at the front desk. The room was very spacious...had a pillow-top king bed with crisp white sheets, and was just so comfortable. There was desk, which boyfriend used, while doing some work and the seat was very comfortable (although do be careful and don't lean back too far because he almost fell backwards hehe). The bathroom was equally as lovely and had two robes. I definitely indulged in using one after a hot shower. The service was really impeccable and very friendly. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Also, I had left a few clothes and they were happy to send it to me complimentary to Chicago even though it was totally my fault that I left those things behind. Thank you for going above and beyond. The staff are the definite standout here, every interaction even in passing in the halls or chatting at the bar or calling for room service was the perfect balance of super warm and genuine and kind and also wickedly good at their jobs. For example, rattling off a complicated dinner order that had been rambled out by a very tired out, festival-burnt out, nearly incomprehensible person without missing a step and with an audible sweet smile in her voice. Small stuff that's memorable when you're spending a lot of time on the road. It's been my experience that super cool looking modern boutique hotels are more likely to have staff that exude a little too cool for you. These classic spots seem to be the best at making me feel at home, and making me want to come back. The room was simple, zero obtrusive Flair elements. Classic hotel room, with an awesome bed and huge windows looking out over downtown Winnipeg, just steps from the Exchange District. The pool on the 21st floor was dreamy, perfectly clean, very warm, and salt water so no harsh chlorine vibes. Nice super hot hot tub, and a sauna, very relaxing. We came here to treat ourselves and celebrate for a night and we left feeling like we got exactly what we were hoping for. read more

Excellently appointed and up to the standards of most Fairmont hotels. Best place I've stayed at in Winnipeg thus far. I stayed on the Club Floor rooms (18th and 19th) - enjoyed the breakfast and happy hour items, although I feel like at least like beer and wine should be included free instead of being a charge at the honor bar. Valet service was great, always had my car ready on time, running and heated up. The gym is well appointed, and the pool is a nice option too - even though it's small enough that if you're swimming laps it gets pretty wavy. Only dinging this one star for a few reasons: First, the wifi signal kept coming and going. Not enough to be truly annoying, but if you're a high-end hotel these days you should seriously spring for quality Wifi - business travelers or guests aren't paying top dollar for nothing. Second, there were more than a few times during the day when the club desk wasn't staffed and I couldn't find a rep to help me (even waited a few minutes), forcing me to go down to the main lobby. Not the end of the world, but again less than I'd expect from the Fairmont and not my experience elsewhere. Will definitely be back though. Really enjoyed my stay at the Fairmont in Winnipeg where I went for a conference. Though the hotel is on one corner of the most unfriendly pedestrian intersection I've ever encountered, it was within relative close walking distance to some nice restaurants. Note that the underground coffee shops and stores close on the weekend. So if you're up early on a Saturday looking to score a coffee at the Starbucks underground, you'll be disappointed. Much to my surprise, I think my favorite thing about my stay at the Fairmont may be the shampoo and conditioner they offer. It is not the weird gross crap at other hotels. It smelled really great (rose, I think) and left my hair feeling full of body. King bed and pillows were really comfortable. Everything appeared really clean. And since I was only there for two nights, I didn't bother with housekeeping. I love when I can put up the do not disturb tag and can go about my business without interruption. One improvement would be having a more reasonably priced lounge level entry fee. I think it was $150/day based on the conference group rate I had. But, if I have to go back to Winnipeg, I'd definitely enjoy staying here again. read more

I was here about 2 years ago, staying for 2 weeks on a work trip. The only reason I picked the Fairmont was the ability to use my upgrade vouchers (it's definitely not my first place pick), but unfortunately I couldn't. I got in from the Parking, and on a dark night it's quite a tough find (not at the main entrance, but around the back somewhere). It seems like they share it with the office building around. It connects to the underground path, which connects to the hotel. The whole pathway was a little scary as there is no one around, and only after studying the signs I could find my way. And the aesthetic itself is stuck in the 1970s. The room was typical room room size, nice and clean. The most annoying thing was that it's the 2010 and this room had no available plugs for me to plug my gadgets. The socket near the bed was hidden behind the bed, and once I finally pulled it out, they were all taken with with this giant 4 piece splitter. (the saddest part is that i'm looking at recent reviews on here and doesn't look like that changed) The restaurant downstairs is touted to be the best in Winnipeg. It was quite good, but the price tag is $$$$. Yay for per diem and eating very little that day. I found there was no Coffee shop per say to get a decently priced meal, but downstairs en route to the parking there was a nice muffin/coffee place to get a $2 breakfast! One thing that was good, was that I forgot my phone charger and I was able to get one from the front desk. Also, they gave me some good advice on where I can get a manicure via the concierge (this was before I discovered Yelp) I wish Fairmont in general, can update their whole look and persona. No one cares about regal and upscale when there is a $200 price tag on it with less perks than the others. read more

Went up and the room was occupied. Went back down and said the room with the "non working door" was the last room available. They did not upgrade me in any circomstance. Appologies were just forced. Rooms are average for a higher priced hotel. Older then the newer express hotels popping up these days. Customer service was good, but not sure if this was due to the low season, since the number of guests typically is correlated to the level of service (time, etc.) Amenities- Did not experience Bar- Overall good selection of alcohol but priced a little bit higher than most bars. read more

I love the Winnipeg Fairmont. I have visited a few times and have always found it to be nice rooms, clean atmosphere and great service. I am not sure what the going rate of the rooms are, given that I often stay as part of a conference (where they offer a discount), so I can't really speak for the value as much as the quality of the hotel itself. This Fairmont is feeling quite tired and dated. The furnishings in my room were quite dated and not at their best. In fact, the armchair and ottoman were very grubby looking. So much so, I wouldn't sit in them nor would I put anything on them. The bathroom is also very dated and the toilet made water running noises every 10 minutes which lead to a disrupted sleep. This was the second room I had - the first I received when I checked in was next to the elevator and I have my profile set up requesting no rooms close to the elevator - I value my sleep and go to bed early. I promptly went down and requested a change. The service in the restaurant was excellent, however, my room service order was disappointing. I asked for my eggs poached well done and when they arrived they were so runny that the egg white was still slimy close to the yolk. The fitness centre also leaves a lot to be desired. Cardio machines but limited weights or space to use them. read more

I stayed here during a conference and overall the experience was quite nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful, the lovely ladies in banqueting were especially helpful to accommodate my request for a glass of water or a cup of oatmeal and steered me in the right direction for vegetarian items in the buffets. Our room was always very clean, housekeeping did a great job and the nightly turn down was a special touch. Who doesn't want to come up to their room after a 14 hour day of conferencing to be welcomed by relaxing radio music and a bottle of water? We experienced slow service one evening in the lounge area of the bar but the other time we went into the bar area service was prompt and attentive. The salt water pool was nice but my absolute favorite was the jacuzzi. I popped up to the 21st floor to be welcomed by a great view of Portage and Main Streets via windows along one wall. Too bad our evenings were so full, I think the view would have been lovely after dark too! read more

Always a great stay at the Fairnont in Winnipeg. Never have had a problem with any staff and they always are willing to bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. The menus are a bit pricey but the food has always been INCREDIBLE!! The breakfast is always worth it and some of the best food I've had. While the pool on the top is a bit small, the jacuzzi is always nice, steam room is invigorating and the exercise room suits ones needs admirably. Even though we live here in Winnipeg, staying at the Fairmont is always a special and affordable getaway. That and their honeymoon suite is also wonderful! We definitely did not regret choosing her for our overnight stay. read more

So I am giving this place 2 stars because its a Fairmont and I expect more! Any other hotel and it would be 3 stars. Location: close to downtown and the orchastra. The hotel is also accessible from an underground network of malls. It doesnt look very welcoming from there but it gets a bit better once you get to the lobby. Note that the place is not located 'in the middle' of downtown or 'very near' to the Forks. Front Desk: Smooth checkin and friendly staff. They however didn't have a lot to say when asked about dining options. Parking: They have valet parking but I am not too sure of the price. Rooms: The decor is dated and beyond the lobby, there is no feel of the Fairmont hospitality. The room actually had a tube TV, not even flat screen! The carpet was kinda worn and there was nothing that made me feel that I am in a top notch hotel. Restaurant: The hyped Velvet Glove is okay. I personally dont believe its worth the price. I ordered a few gin-tonics and they were never the same! The food was nothing to rave about. A true 'meh' experience. Healthclub: Average facilities. They have a pool and sauna as well. Overall: I was very disappointed with my experience. It was no better than the Delta and I am not returning here for the price point. read more

Note: my initial impression did not take into consideration the efforts of the front desk staff that went above and beyond what I regard as great service. One lady in particular at the front desk was sweet enough to remember my mentioning that I was looking for the hospital that I was born in, and she looked it up, printed a map, and left a message to my room. She also wanted to check in on whether the room was any better than the first room I was given. Not only was she sincere in trying to help me, but I felt she really went out of her way, and thereby single-handedly brought the rating up a couple stars higher; such quality service CANNOT be ignored. Fairmont, you need to update your decor to remain in keeping with your competitors, but you certainly hire great people! And I DO believe I'd come back, because I've met some wonderful people out here! Here's the original review, for which I gave only 1 star: "Being San Franciscan, I had certain expectations for staying at the Fairmont--anybody have any mental images of the Fairmont in San Francisco? I chose this hotel because of its reputation and high standards. Further, it had some pretty high reviews online, so when I got here and saw the 70's furnishings, the fake wood shelves behind the front desk, the fingerprint-laden, unpolished, scratched elevator doors, and the cheap furniture in the room, I wondered if we were at the right place. The first room I was offered on the 12th floor was stain-ridden! However, the front-desk staff was VERY courteous and friendly, and not only gave us another room, but helped me find certain locations tied to my being born in Winnipeg. On the first night, an unseen "neighbor" left empty pizza boxes and beer bottles next to my door, AND the icemaker on my floor didn't work. At this point, my expectations were greatly diminished. Where EXACTLY were the high standards for this place?! Finally, the descriptions of the hotel being within walking distance to the Forks as well as other traveler's sites was misleading; rather than being outside the door, even perhaps a couple of blocks away, the Forks was a good 12-15 minute walk. By the time I realized this, it was too late to hail a cab as there were none to be found. This was far too ghetto-licious for the price. I love the fact that my BF asked for an upgrade, and got us a king-sized bed. That was fabulous. I love the fact that we were able to keep the cheese and fruit tray intended for another guest and incorrectly delivered to our room. I love the fact that there were a billion (okay, like 6) pillows and a big ole flat screen TV. I didn't love the fact that there were water marks on our ceiling, in more than one area. I didn't love the fact that our sink was all scratched to hell. I didn't love the fact that there were NO SIGNS directing us to the hotel from the parking garage. We ran into another couple who was just as lost as we were. Seriously, could you splurge for an arrow? Just one? The pool was a little misleading - the room lit said "enclosed" and also "rooftop." While technically probably true, the pool was just in a regular room on the 21st floor. Not quite what I expected (and whoa, the chlorine smell was STRONG). This hotel is in a little sketchier area than the Fort Garry and only about $20 cheaper when all was said and done. read more

Love this hotel!! It might even be the most exiting place in all of winnipeg!! The rooms are great! Comfortable beds with clean linens and exellent pool located on the top floor, a steam room! ( my favorite feature ) also they have reception/conference facilities complete with fresh water and great basic catering!I really like the staff here to, very helpful and personable! I have been to a lot of fantastic hotels in my day all over the world and this one is one is in my top ten, and that's no joke! It's location is wicked to! You're right in downtown to explore some interesting shops. Also a mall nearby and a Starbucks down the road! One interesting fact, it is located right on the street that a local told me is the most windy location in Canada! Also its about a ten minute walk from the famous Winnipeg forks! I have stayed at another Fairmont hotel before and it is what you would expect from this class of hotel. When I checked in initially I had a problem with my rooms floor being being wet. Not sure what the problem was but it was quickly addressed by Lorie I was immediately accommodated in another awesome room. The night after I stepped out of my room and stupidly left my key. I thought without an ID I would have trouble getting a new key. There was Lorie to the rescue! She remembered my name and even my room number. She gave me a key right away all while making sure that my stay was up to par. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that really wants a 5 star treatment. read more

Although the staff is very nice and professional, some of the best I've been around in fact, this hotel is severely outdated. The carpets are dirty, the beds are unbelievably lumpy, worn out and uncomfortable, certainly the worst quality accommodations that bear the Fairmont name that I have come across. The Fairmont Winnipeg was a fantastic hotel to stay at on our mini hockey vacay. It wasn't too far from the airport which made our taxi ride only $20 (including tip). The hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Even though we arrived well before check in they had a room available for us. The room was very clean, and the bed was beyond comfortable. In terms of getting to the MTS centre to watch the hockey game, we were able to walk under ground the entire way. This was great seeing as it was -25 outside. The only downside to this hotel was that the prices in the restaurant was quite expensive for average tasting food. We found ourselves eating elsewhere for less money and food that tasted just as good. If I ever return to Winnipeg I would definitely stay at the Fairmont again. read more

Hot takes from first evening here: -bathroom updated, but remainder of room significantly outdated - arrived at 4 pm and room was hot despite air being set at coolest temperature. Hotel facilities came up and agreed AC was not working at full capacity, and said a few changes would be made to air flow so give it 10 minutes before switching rooms. Waited an hour and still extremely hot, so called to change room. No rooms are available I'm now told; a fan is instead provided to me. - go to lobby to ask where I can get water and Advil. Front desk doesn't know for sure where I can get Advil, but suggests looking in vending machine downstairs where the water is. No Advil to be found, I come back up and am told a store 15 minutes away has Advil. Perhaps my expectations are off--US citizen that spends 80 nights a year in US hotels--but I've never been to a purported 4 star hotel that doesn't have Advil available at front desk, a front desk employee who can't immediately tell you where to find it, or a shop in hotel to purchase it. - fact that water bottles are not provided in room is another head scratcher. Again, a 4 star hotel that I have to purchase water from a vending machine in the basement from? - staff who came to room with fan and who tried to fix AC were pleasant and responded to call quickly. Dined for the first time at VG's a few evenings ago. I was expecting that it would be good but not that good. My dish was really DELICIOUS and yet it surprised my taste buds in a very good way. The gentleman who was serving us was attentive and very pleasant as well as the rest of the staff we met along the way to the restaurant. We had the chance to meet the Chef. One can very quickly tell that he is very passionate about the food he makes and the produce he uses. Did you know some chanterelles grew in Manitoba? Well, I did not but was fortunate to be able to taste some as well as other excellent local produce. I would highly recommend dining at VG. read more

My family was invited to the Velvet Glove last Saturday: I couldn't attend. Each one praised the quality of the table setting and the excellent service. They even offered desserts to go. Never had such delicious desserts; it was divine! We spent memorable moments tasting these well presented cakes and I had a delightful and memorable moment with my family while savouring the dessert. It leaves me with an unforgettable memory of the Fairmont management and his staff. Hurrah to the Chef! This hotel certainly can create moments to remember. It is the only place I will dine in the future and will praise the Fairmont as the most distinguished hotel and its performance. read more

This hotel gets three stars for the location, not for the actual facility or customer service. The Fairmont Winnipeg isn't quite as high-end or special as other Fairmonts I've stayed at, although I understand they are mid-way through renovations which will hopefully make it feel like more of a luxury hotel. But for the important stuff: The rooms are immaculately clean, the beds and linens are comfortable, the water runs hot, the toiletries are wonderful, and the doormen are very courteous and helpful. I did not like the area, however. Virtually everything shuts down by 5 p.m. and if you want to return to the hotel after a busy workday, freshen up, and then go for a walk and see the sights/leisurely find a dinner spot, downtown Winnipeg is not a great choice. There are lots of galleries and shops nearby in the Exchange District, but everything closes very early and by 8 p.m. the streets were completely empty and could be unsafe if you're walking alone. Osbourne Village is lovely in the evenings and could be a better choice of location if you plan to walk to drinks or dinner often. But if you'd just like a clean, comfortable room and good customer service (and great room service) the Fairmont is lovely. read more

From the moment I walked through the front doors, I was greeted with a very warm reception from the General Manager and Executive Chef. The entire staff throughout the property went above and beyond to ensure my stay was pleasant and comfortable. Rooms and amenities are terrific. The food is amazing! read more

This was my first time and my last time staying at a Fairmont. I was travelling to Winnipeg with my family and requested two rooms close to each other. While I didn't necessarily expect them to be side by side, it would have been nice to have them on the same floor. They were 5 floors apart. We also requested a mini-fridge in our room and called ahead of time. We were told to ask once we checked in, and we did so, but were suddenly told it would be $25 per day. However, my sister, who didn't request a mini-fridge, had one in her room for free. I don't understand why we were not put in a room with a fridge considering it was one of our few requests! The room itself was okay... Nothing special. I expected more considering it's the pricey Fairmont. The beds were tiny, barely enough room for two people. The thermostat is just for show - so if you like sweating, it's a good hotel for you. Not everyone likes the same temperature so I'm not sure why I wasn't able adjust the setting to what I found comfortable. One of the worst parts of the entire stay was the "scam box." It's a plugged in, weighted box that is on top of the dresser that has $7 oreos and other stuff in it. It is placed obnoxiously out in the open. There is a mini-bar inside the dresser out of the way, and this box should be there too. The hotel staff warned us that if you even touch the box you can get charged for something. We were terrified to touch the dresser for the entire stay. Our room came with a Keurig and a kettle, but no Keurig pods or teabags. Parking is expensive and hard to find. The tunnel system is complicated and not well-marked for someone from out of town. You can't cross the street in front of the hotel and have to use a pedestrian underpass under the road, which is REALLY inconvenient every time you need to leave the hotel. Not to mention sketchy. Even though the hotel is downtown, for this reason, its not a convenient location by any means, especially if you are going to a concert at the Bell MTS Place. They lock the elevator from the concourse level after 6pm which made it extra confusing to get back to the hotel. When we checked in we were told that breakfast was served in the morning. So I headed downstairs to the hoity-toity Velvet Glove and asked if it was a free breakfast (after all I had experienced in the hotel so far I couldn't imagine getting anything for free at this point). She asked me what room I was staying in and she replied "you are not on the list." There is a list for breakfast? I walked away feeling like a peasant. The only good thing about the stay was the maintenance, housekeeping, and bell hop staff were beyond fantastic. Front desk staff not so helpful though. read more
