We chose Loretta Paganini School of Cooking because of Loretta's outstanding culinary reputation, but also because of their wide variety of class offerings. When we saw the breakfast class for crepes, waffles, and pancakes, the choice was easy. This isn't something obscure and is easily replicated at home. The Loretta Paganini School of Cooking is located in a snug and cozy older house. They have a small shop of chef-driven cooking supplies and one main room for cooking classes. The main room is smaller and I imagine can fit 10 people. This was my first cooking class ever and I loved the slanted mirrors on the ceiling to see instructions more clearly. Chef Loretta is SO talented that its probably easy to forget we're just simpletons, but she was able to laugh off the mistakes we made as true beginners. We had no idea what to expect prep wise, but everyone in the class was given different duties for the dish (so you yourself were never making it all). We ate the food as we went along and chatted techniques. Her assistants were great about providing water, coffee and general assistance when Chef was busy helping others. The brunch menu featured a variety of different recipes including frittatas, homemade sausage, a potato and sweet potato hash, pancakes with a bourbon syrup, cinnamon buns and much more! Angel reassured me there was a way to get the birth I wanted. She told me to relax, think positively, watch something funny and to snuggle and talk to my hubby. I would…read moresay our experience was very positive until an incident that caused me to cancel our enrollment. A family friend took my son to his lesson and his usual instructor (who we loved and who did an amazing job with my son) was not present. Instead an instructor who we had only seen one other time, the prior week, was scheduled for his lesson. It would have been nice to have been notified of this change but nonetheless, the lesson started. I received a call from my friend near the end of the lesson to tell me that my son had fallen jumping into the pool and hit his head. My friend also mentioned that it was a different instructor than our regular teacher and that the instructor had been socializing during the lesson with another instructor, while my son sat poolside and did nothing. He told me that the instructor treated the fall very casually and refused to provide him with an incident report or anything documenting what happened. My friend asked to speak to a manager but there wasn't one on site and no one was available by phone. He then asked for the name of the manager and owner and was told that one of those people would contact me to discuss the incident. It's been several days and no one has reached out to me. My kiddo is luckily ok, but I certainly lost any confidence in that teacher being able to keep him safe and more importantly (because accidents happen) responding in a caring and considerate way when something does occur. Coupled with the fact that no one from the facility contacted me, I cancelled our enrollment and decided to share our experience for the benefit of other families looking for swim lessons. I hope Liquid Lifestyles reconsiders its current incident response protocols and provides some training to their teachers on the appropriate way to handle accidents. A reminder that parents pay for their kids to actively be learning during a lesson (not sitting by while teachers chat) couldn't hurt either.

I'd never tried salsa or tango before,…read morebut in half an hour he taught me several basic steps and had me absolutely hooked and ready to come back all December for more classes! Even though I initially felt awkward and out of place trying such intimate dance styles with a stranger, he was the definition of a personable professional and made me feel incredibly at ease! He was encouraging yet not over the top with praise (genuine) and the whole time was also giving me the history and background of both dances! Nika at the front desk was incredibly friendly and helpful too- ranging from helping me with a new mask to scheduling my next classes. Finally, every month or so they have a weekday casual social salsa dance. Pay 10 bucks, BYOB if you'd like, and dance the night away! It was at this dance- keep in mind I have had exactly one half hour salsa lesson in my life- where I had the great fortune of meeting the incredibly down to earth owner of Viva, Parker, and a friend, Miguel. Even though I warned them about my inability, BOTH gentlemen took time from the party to dance with me and made me feel like a first rate rock star! I was giggling the whole time and just had such a blast with this group of learner-friendly talented individuals. You must try this place out as they have multiple styles and levels of dance class both group and private. You won't regret meeting these passionate folks!

Everyone was so amazingly nice and open, and they are truly a credit to their craft. It takes a certain talent to teach a group of people how to dance, at all different levels and experience, and not make it intimidating. It was all about having fun and actually enjoying dance. During the social I was observing the room and saw how dance has brought together people of all different ages and backgrounds to just enjoy music, dance, and each other. Viva is truly a special place. They teach, encourage (and push you when you need it), all the time making it fun and and exciting.
