1. We live close to this clinic and we're hoping to make this our pediatrician office for our newborn son. To start we were told at the hospital to make an appointment for our newborn with the pediatrician we would like to see. The hospital told us that Fairview clinics are required to fit a newborn visit in and each pediatrician should have some available appointments to squeeze them in. We tried calling the Fridley Fairview clinic while still at the hospital and were laughed at on the phone by the Fridley scheduling staff. We were told that Dr. Burt is no longer accepting new patients and there would be no way to get an appointment with a pediatrician at that location. We talked to the hospital staff and they said we needed to call back and tell the clinic they have to schedule the appointment since we have a newborn. We ended up expressing our frustrations to the floating pediatrician on staff at the hospital and she welcomed us to see her the very next day at one of her Fairview clinic rotations, she said she would be glad to fit us in.
2. Our son has bilirubin and we are having to have his blood tested every 48hrs to check his levels. We scheduled our follow up lab visit at Fridley Fairview clinic for the morning since it should be a quick appointment and close to where we live. After going to this location, I will NEVER set foot in this office again. The lab technician (older woman, shorter, with shorter dark brown hair, was very stern and gave loud clear instructions to sit down and hold your baby over your shoulder (keep in mind we have been parents for 5 days and have had no sleep and the last thing we want to do is see our son's blood drawn). She did the blood draw and then took her gloves off and touched the bandage on the side that goes against the skin (not professional or sanitary - most likely not up to health code). She used a gauzy type wrap instead of a bandaid, so as we were leaving we noticed our sons blood was dripping down the fabric lining on his car seat.
3. We needed to schedule our two week pediatrician appointment before we left. We walked up to the front desk on the street level and the woman sitting at the desk (Jo Jo was the name on her binder - long stringy blondish hair) made eye contact and then looked down at her computer. We stood there waiting to be greeted, she finally looked up and said 'yes?'. We asked to make an appointment and the woman clearly was very inconvenienced by us. She kept critiquing our request, asked for our name, then asked what time our appointment was that day? We said, no we don't have an appointment for today, we need to make one. She rolled her eyes and said 'no I need to look up your appointment first so I know who you are'... why did you ask for our name then?! We finally got the appointment scheduled, we discovered the blood dripping from our sons foot into the car seat. She then stood up to look over the desk at the baby and made this really creepy giggle and said 'have a nice day'.
My husband and I walked out the door looking at each other like 'wtf just happened'. Every person we encountered at this location seemed to be on their lowest of low points in life. Absolutely no customer service skills, not professional (especially scary when it involves your child's blood draw) and the rudest staff I've dealt with at a Fairview location ever. Save yourself the frustration and go ANYWHERE else for your appointment. read more
