I DO NOT recommend going here!! Be on high alert! If you are wanting a dentist and their team to care about you, this is not your place because they don't care. I would NOT suggest going here! Know what you are being charged BEFORE you sit in the chair. After stating clearly I did not want to do anything that insurance would not cover I received a bill for $248 after a very rough cleaning. They have charged for fluoride on two different family members without asking or telling that they were doing it. It's just another way to make money off people. Insurance won't pay for it in most cases after a certain age and they know it. It's automatically done and then surprise you with an additional charge. Who likes to go to the dentist??? Who likes to get a crown?? Who likes to get a root canal??? No one ever!! But, it is part of getting old and it has to be done at some point. So you want to make sure that you go to a dentist that cares for you, listens to you and accommodates your needs the best that they can. Fairview Dental Care is great!! I am very skeptical when I go to the dentist but, they put me at ease with their bedside manner and great customer service. Dr. Robert Griffin and Hygienist Jenny were top notch! Don't be fooled by the OLD one star reviews! We have trusted Fairview Dental for our family's dental needs for 5 years now. Dr. Goyal was great, but Dr. Griffin is even better! Fair pricing, fabulous atmosphere. The dental hygienists are super friendly and provide a very thorough cleaning every time. My young children do not fear going to the dentist. Please don't be lied to a cheated by this dentist like I was. I had 4 broken teeth removed and this dentist was not willing to provide any pain medication I lost 8 days of work I was in so much pain. I also had an additional tooth that needed fixed he said he would fix it at the next appointment i had to wait 5 weeks in pain and at the appointment all they did was a cleaning and charged me 980$ I would sue him but it would cost me more than I would recover. I have spent thousands of dollars at this dental office. The last crown they made has a crack under the final surface and the crown is turning grey. Dr Griffin said they would replace it for free. I had several severe medical issues that delayed my return. I talked to the office on three occasions and was told that they would still replace the crown as promised. I scheduled the appointment & Dr. Griffin denied replacing this defective crown. Instead he said I could pay &4,700 and get Invisalign and teeth whitening. The office was busy and clean. Staff was polite and helpful. Dentist was polite until I disagreed on the form of treatment for my dental care. The dental team does general dentistry as well as complicated root canals and extractions. I had a molar my personal dentist and I had decided NOT to root canal but to extract. Fairview Dental was in my insurance carrier, and they had an opening and assured me over the phone they would extract the tooth, so I went in for the extraction as soon as possible so I wouldn't have to endure the pain any longer. (My dentist's schedule was booked solid.) Fairview acknowledged I was an extraction patient. So I was seen today by the male dentist at Fairview Dental. AND knowing I came in for extraction, he refused to do it!. I was told before making the appointment they would extract if I preferred, which I did, but the dentist preferred root camel and crown ($$$) and when I remained firm in my decision to not TRCwC, he REFUSED to pull my cracked and dying tooth and sent me away in my pain after verbally insulting me and admonishing me for not being "responsible for my teeth and being reasonable about my health." Fairview only got my quick business because of their sneaky way to try and hard sell me on the root canal. So, in this case, it was a bait and switch. I do NOT recommend them. He has a right to refuse me service, but knowing the situation before I got there, he should have done it over the phone and not brought me to the office to begin with. The entire purpose was to verbally bully a patient in pain into making money off my condition. Root canals are NOT the answer to every dental condition. We disagreed the tooth was worth saving. My personal dentist and I had already discussed the pros and cons. My mind was firm. His only saving grace is when I asked not to be charged, nor my insurance billed for the appointment, they said they would not charge. Don't go!! I have been to a lot of dentist in my life, this office takes the cake for the worst I've experienced. Hardly any communication as to what's going on, they couldn't figure out insurance, told me I had less benefits that I actually did. They have to ask why you are there on arrival after making an appointment. Treatment plans are inconsistent. I went in March and told I have 17 filling needed. Scheduled first few to be done a few months later. Instead of doing the work, after waiting and waiting they decide to evaluate teeth again and now they say I need a root canal and 5 crowns!!!! Really? No work was done after 3 hours, I left and got a 2nd opinion. In reality I need 1 crown and 8 fillings. No root canal. Never did the dr even talk to me about anything. I write this review mainly to hopefully influence the way Fairview Dental practices in the future and to alert future patients. The dentist who did a root canal for me was efficient enough and not bad. However, I believe he cut corners by placing a half-crown (temporary) on my molar and leaving half of the real tooth. Before the permanent crown could be put on, my tooth/temp easily broke off causing much stress. I got the feeling that the staff is trying to make as much money as possible in as short a time as possible. Unfortunately, I had a horrific experience here and feel obliged to share this. I arrived at my appointment on time and filled out the necessary paperwork. No issues with the receptionists. I got back to the room where the dental hygienist began to work. I don't know if she was inexperienced or nervous or both, but it was very uncomfortable. After multiple attempts at trying to visualize my cavity, she was able to take a picture (which remained on a visible computer screen even after we switched rooms- HIPPA violation?). My visit was to confirm whether or not I had a cavity. They offered a complete dental package to me which I opted for, thinking this would be my new dentist. It would include x-rays, photographs of my mouth, a dental cleaning, oral cancer screening, and gum checking. Fine. Well, they decided to interrupt this package in order to fill my cavity. That had to be one of the worst experiences of my life. My first cavity, and it is messed up. I would have rather had screws drilled into my toes, in retrospect. In order to have this done, we switched rooms- no big deal there, other than my teeth pictures left up on a screen for any walkers-by to enjoy. Once the dentist came in, she pulled my cheek out, in order to get at the problem tooth. After placing a plastic piece in my mouth against the cheek, she placed a tool in my mouth which rested against the corner of my mouth/lip and boy was that awful. True pain. After several hand and facial gestures to both the hygienist and dentist that I was in pain, they removed the plastic piece. No, you two. It was the tool you pushed against my lip that hurt. And continued to hurt, and my poor mouth hurts still! So she drilled and filled. Then just up and walked out, telling the hygienist to check my bite. Was my bite checked? Not initially. She attempted to "smooth" out the filling first with another tool. Well, friends, smooth out the filling did they fail to do. In fact it is still rough, even after I voiced this to them several times, there is a sharp point in the back which slightly scraped my cheek, and I have a lovely bit of the composite filling remain stuck to my back gum where my wisdom tooth once resided. Then my bite was checked. How does it feel, they asked. Weird, I replied. As long as your teeth touch, it's okay, was their response. Awesome. Next, the hygienist said we were going to finish the package and start with the x-rays. Oh fabulous. She reported she would take 18 total x-rays and to those of you who have had these, they are not comfortable by any stretch of the imagination. This was made all the more evident by the fact that she had to redo at least half a dozen of them. These were done, by the way, post-dental work. Next, she wanted to take digital pictures of the inside of my mouth, at some times using a small mirror. That was first for me after 20+ years of dental visits, but fine. Well, after 5 or 6 tries, one picture kept blurring, and of course I was to blame by breathing on it, right? It wasn't until she noticed a smear of lip balm on the mirror resulting in the blurry image that my good name was cleared. Now, several times during this process, she offered for us to stop and finish another time. This was after both the receptionist and the dentist came back to say we would finish the complete package after the filling. Tired, hygienist? Or implying that I'm tired? That was odd. After three times of her "offering" to have me schedule another appointment I said fine, we can finish another day. First thing this afternoon I called my dentist back in Wisconsin, almost in tears to describe what happened and see if they could help me. So during Christmas break, that's where I will be! Please, please spare yourself the unprofessionalism and inexperience which I had the misfortune of experiencing here. They did, however, call back to see why I cancelled my appointment and I was happy to tell them the short version of what I posted here. read more

It takes a lot for me to post a review like this, but my experience with these guys was pretty shady. To begin with, they lure you in with a one-time student discount, but cleanings are overpriced. Then every time I went in for a cleaning they would find a cavity that needed to be filled. I had never gotten cavities with such frequency before. Sensing something was up, I transferred my x-rays to my old family dentist in my hometown and went in for a second opinion. Nothing. No cavities. Fairview was also really pushy about non-essential procedures. They suggested they would eventually need to replace my metal fillings with resin ones, and they kept pressuring me to get sealants on all my back molars. Some quick research revealed that dentists typically only put sealants on children. I'm 30 years old. Dishonest vibes all around. My sense is that they are taking advantage of student patients who are getting dental care on their own for the first time and don't have dental insurance. If you fall into that category, avoid at all costs. read more

STEER CLEAR!! I came to Fairview simply because my Dentist in St. Louis said I had one cavity that needed a filing and I thought it would be easier to just switch to someone in town instead of having to commute the 2 hours home. Boy was I wrong! Not only was I asked to come in earlier which I did, but then I was made to wait an hour and a half. Once I was finally seated in the chair I was made to feel awful for not wanting out of pocket, un-necessary cosmetic procedures and I had to constantly ask if we could stick to what my insurance covers. Fairview had confirmed that they received my records and x-rays from my Dentist in St. Louis yet they still put me through countless painful radiographs. When the Hygienist came in it was very awkward because she had nothing but snide remarks. Through this whole process I kept reminding them I was just in for a filling and everything else with my mouth had been fine; no pain or oddities. When the snarky Hygienist was finished Dr. Sasek finally saw me. What awful bedside manor! She proceeded to tell me I needed 3 fillings and a root canal! She also asked if I had braces before because my bite was awful and of course she could recommend an orthodontist. I informed her I had in fact had braces as an adolescent and all she could say was that I should have gotten my money back. Not to sound pompous but I think I have a very nice smile and have never had problems with my bite. Dr. Sasek further suggested I see an oral surgeon she knows that could help fix an ill alignment with my jaw. I thought I was on a tv prank show, where was she coming up with all this?! I had just seen my Dentist who is a very respected Doctor and the only thing he found was one cavity. I would have felt more comfortable with a used-car salesmen! Finally after spending 2 hours there, no joke, my one cavity that needed a filling was never addressed and I was ushered to the front where I was told I would need to pay almost $900 (my insurance was going to pay the other $1200) for everything they wanted to do for next time. The whole time I was at Fairview I felt like I was being "sold" I should get this extra, do teeth whitening, they offer special mouthwash, $15 toothpaste, etc. I came for one filling and all I got was 2 hours of rude belittlement. It was very uncomfortable from start to finish. They tried to upsell x-rays, exams, etc. Bad news! The dentist said that I needed crowns on my top two front teeth and quoted me a price around $3700. I have a small line that I thought was a crack which is why I went to the office. Since crowns are such a big procedure and I wasn't in any kind of pain (except the pain of having to potentially pay $3700) I went to get a second opinion. The other dentist said NOTHING WAS WRONG. I made my mother-in-law an appointment her because she needed her tooth pulled. The dentist was extremely rude to her, he made her wait in his chair for three hour with no numbing meds (she was in so much pain). He then comes in after making her wait for something that takes 10 minutes, gives her the numbing shot and before it could completely kick it he rips her tooth out then he throws her tooth on the table then walks out with out saying anything. My mother-in-law walked out of this place in tears. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!!! They charger her $500 to pull her tooth but when we called they said it would be no more that $200. read more

I had been going here every 6 months for a cleaning which they did a good job. Its hard to screw a standard teeth cleaning up. Anyway, the major work i had done was getting two crowns on my top back two teeth which were side by side. I was so nervous to get this done. Prior to getting the permanent crown, i was told the crowns were made locally and not in China ( This was a huge relief) . So a few weeks went by and I went back to the Dentists and they installed both permanent crowns. They fit the one crown perfectly on my back tooth and the second crown fits well but is not on perfect. What i mean by this is, I can feel the end or bottom of the crown where it meets my gum line. So what happened was, they shaved off a little to much off the second crown prior to installing it. This bothers me as I am a perfectionist when it comes to my teeth. Unfortunately, i do not believe there is anything they can do to correct this as the crown is cemented on permanently or until it breaks which shouldn't happen for 20 years i'm told. Overall, I am happy with the cleanliness and friendliness of the staff who work there and the Dr, Goyal although now they have a new Doctor. On another note, I want to say that they did an exceptional job repairing my bonded retainer on my top teeth that goes across the inside of my top four teeth. I went in there to get it repaired and they repaired it. It then broke a few months later so i went back and they repaired it again (at no charge to me) but unfortunately, they did not do a great job and it broke again within a matter of a few weeks. So i called again and scheduled a appointment which they got me in within a few days wait and they repaired it once again but this time, she used extra cement at my request and honestly, she did a better job at applying the cement onto the retainer than the dentist previously did. All these time i went to have the bonded retainer repaired, they did not charge me and because of this, I have stayed with them as my provider. I am happy with the work they do and the staff are friendly as well. The wait times could be better but to me i dont really mind because that means the Dentists and staff are taking there time with each individual patient and not rushing so i don't mind waiting. Overall, they get a 8 out of 10 and I would absolutely recommend them if you are in need of a cleaning, getting a Crown done, or need a bonded retainer repaired. read more

Worst experience I've ever had with a doctor or dental office. My review is from my experience two years ago. I should have posted one sooner, but I just wanted to block the place from my memory. However, I really wish I had read the reviews here and on other sites before I subjected myself to this place. I went through a period during my last semester of grad school where I didn't have insurance, so I left a great dentist in Columbia to get a standard cleaning at Fairview after receiving a flyer for a discounted price. It was a very poor decision, but I didn't think a standard cleaning would be putting myself at risk. I had a very similar experience to other reviewers that compared it to a used car lot/salesman. I was constantly questioned about teeth whitening even though I have very white teeth. The hygienist said he had to thoroughly evaluate my teeth before he could tell me if he could clean them. I've taken care of my teeth my whole life and stayed on top of teeth cleanings and I was 26 at the time. He said "ok good news we can clean your teeth." (Eye roll) I could go on and on but to get to the point the dentist was the worst part. It was Dr. Squires. He was very disrespectful to staff, especially the assistants. He was an older guy from St. Louis. He said I needed fillings based on a newer laser technology. The hygienist had told me that the technology wasn't always accurate and had only detected a possible issue. I was naive at the time, so I trusted the dentist. The fillings he gave me were so poor that months later they fell out and part of each tooth that he put a filling in broke off too! I had never had an issue with a filling before or any broken teeth. I've read the reviews of Dr. Squires on healthgrades and this has happened to people in cities all over. He should be in jail for fraud. I had to go to a real professional and have them properly replaced. I have had no problems since then, but it's sad that I have bigger fillings in those teeth now. It's just very upsetting that I underwent unnecessary fillings that were then improperly done. I should have gotten a second opinion. My last several routine cleanings had all been fine. I was naive and thought the laser technology was catching it early. Please learn from my mistakes and do not go here! read more

. I was new to the area at the time and a battle recommended this office. I needed 4 fillings two on the bottom right and two on the bottom left. I got this done almost three months ago within that three month period I had to go back 5 times bc I could not chew or eat hard food it was too painful. I still have pain to this day. .. I wouldn't want anyone to endure the pain I went through. On a side note the staff and hygienist were very nice. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I Went there for a routine teeth cleaning. They suggested me to start using the Invisalign brace. I accepted. The lady in room 6 that took the print was rough and I left the place with all the green wax in my mouth. I saw her shake her hand toward the floor throwing debris from my mouth on the floor...and there is carpet on the floor!! (Hygiene??). When the brace arrived and she placed it in my mouth i looked like a monster. I had spiked on my front teeth! I kept it few hours but I could not talk or smile. I went back asking to remove it. The very nice doctor became mad, saying that there would be economical consequences. I did not want money back but the brace removed. I had to make several hours scene without living the place before one doctor decided to help me. I was surprised how nice people got upset and mad to me just because I asked to take off the brace. ( I found other people that had the same issue I had...unpleasant spikes on front teeth and their orthodontist just moved the in the back where they are not visible. Dental and economic disaster all the way around. They will not address your problem if there is an easier and more expensive option to waste your money on. High pressure sales, low professionalism, and a setting more befitting of a beauty parlor than a medical facility. They do not stand behind their work and if there was a problem, in this case a 2000$ crown that came off in less than six months, they become defensive and very combative. I have been going to Fairview Dental for about 5 years. I had a permanent bridge put in by a Dr. Squires and had another one put in a few years later by Dr. Goyal. The bridge Dr. Squires put in fell out the end of 2016 and the other one put in by Dr. Goyal needs to be replaced, at least that's what the Dentist who works there now told me. I can't get either one fixed due to the problem of the first bridge coming off. It's only been repaired temporarily, but not sturdy enough to get the other bridge fixed. I'm so totally upset over this Dental office. They will not help me and won't try and alleviate the problem. I need to have the first bridge replaced which will be costly and can't get the second bridge fixed until I get the money together for the first one. I'm seeing another Dentist now, but I'm at a standstill. They do not back up their work. BEWARE! read more

I only visited the Fairview Dental office once (in Columbia, MO). I went to this dentist because I was new in town, didn't have any solid recommendations from friends, my insurance covered this practice, their website was professionally done, and the dentists' credentials seemed to be legit. I would not ever return to this dental office. At the time I went, there were no reviews of the practice. I sincerely hope my honest review can help save others the trouble of experiencing what I experienced. It took 45 minutes of sitting in an exam room before my teeth were even touched. The equipment used to take x-rays and bite wings was incredibly uncomfortable, and slightly painful. The dental hygienist did not appear to know what she was doing and seemed uncomfortable. When the dentist came in, she yelled at the hygienist and for the remainder of my visit, there was obvious tension between these two employees. The dentist, Dr. Bichu, specifically stated my wisdom teeth were intact and looked fine. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed at least 4 years ago. When I notified Dr. Bichu of this, she said "Oops, correction; no wisdom teeth, but still looks good." She also stated I had "remnants of a baby tooth under a permanent tooth." My two previous doctors confirmed this did not appear on any other x-ray I have had, and the first dentist (whom I visited from childhood through college), stated she had record of all baby teeth coming out and replaced by permanent teeth. My greatest complaint against this practice and Dr. Bichu is that she stated, "It looks like you have the beginning stages of mouth cancer. Don't freak out, we'll monitor it at your next visit in 6 months and start treatment then if we need to." When I started to ask questions about this diagnosis, she told me to stop worrying, that it "isn't a big deal". I visited another dentist in town upon recommendation of a prior dentist, and all 3 statements made were determined to be not true. read more

Absolutely disappointing experience. Like others, they called 48 hours before my appointment and asked to move it up 24 hours, I obliged an 8:00am appointment and was requested to arrive 15 minutes early for paper work. When I arrived at 7:45 the reception area was empty and staff could be heard laughing in a back room meeting. I called the front desk (while standing in it) and there was no response to nearly 10 minutes of constant ringing. When they came out of the meeting at 8:05 (five minutes into my schedule appointment time) they suggested they were busy and had not had time to put out patient paper work. I asked for an apology for my 20 minute wait, the reception responded "you don't need to be rude" to my request for an acknowledgment of their error and apology for their delay. I was flabbergasted by this response, and do not do well with differed responsibility and lack of tactful grace, I asked the dentist who had come out of the back room for their response - they looked like a deer in the headlights and were unable to offer a response before I turned my back and walked out. A waste of 20 minutes and a reminder of the importance of tact and punctuality. I'd rather give my money to a dental office that values my time, appreciates my business, and acknowledges their own shortcomings rather than displace them on patients. I will have to agree with the other three reviews. I am writing this review while I'm still numb, but I did not receive any drugs so my mind is not foggy. The appointment process was alright, and the confirmation text/calls were nice. Abida, my dental hygienist, was awesome at what she does. She showed me the issues I had along with what I need to do to correct and maintain my problems. After being handed off the great customer service stopped there. The dentist seemed to be rushed and showed little care. More of the process seemed, to me, to just get done as fast as possible. I do not want to bash the new girl helping the dentist on my first visit, but maybe dry runs should be done before throwing her into the fire. The second assistant was better. That is to say she did not drop an instrument on my face. The real problem came with the discrepancy in the bill versus the quote. I was quoted $136 first visit and $130 second visit. My insurance covered the rest of the bill. When I got finished with my first visit I was told $200+ was due. I told the receptionist the quoted price, and she investigated for 20 minutes or so coming back with a $176 price. I questioned why it was still more then quoted price. She said I was misquoted and that the discrepancy came from the fact that I had a deductible to pay. Now I understand the deductible is my responsibility so I payed, but I feel like something could have been done, customer service, to make me feel good. Instead both times I just got a receptionist mumbling at me smiling and doing nothing but lying to my face saying they would talk to management. To top it all off I did not leave that office either time feeling that "dentist clean mouth" instead my teeth are rough. Minus Abida's awesome care I would not go back... Now with all that said I did not interact with all the staff so I could only imagine they are all good people, but my visits only left me angry. read more

Oh, how I wished I had read the reviews before I sent my 19y/o daughter in for her 6 month check up. We had just moved "back" to Columbia and our dentist was retireing so with decent advertising I sent her here. Eeeeeekkkkk what a huge mistake!!!!!!! She was in the office for 3 hours and they still did not even get her teeth cleaning done. She had to go back the next day and it was another hour then. Yes the staff are all rude and don't know what the hell they are doing, as per her description . I had the most interesting conversation with the nasty office manager when I called and told them she need to be gone to go to work, and to further explain how it does not take this long to clean someone's teeth. I hope they lose all their business and have to go out of business!!!!! It serves those greedy people right. Let them come be my patient for one day........ They don't even deserve one star! This was the only Dentist in Columbia, MO in my PPO so I went there to save a couple hundred dollars only to have to spend it for their constant mistakes. They're not timely-first time I went was around 4pm sat waiting for 30 min, they offered me a Starbucks gift card....oh but they were out, the second time I went at 8am and waited 25 min to go back. Not to mention the second time I went was because I was still having sensitivity on the 4 cavities I originally went there to get filled, they "fixed" one. The staff isn't even friendly and they offer gift cards they don't have... The doctor, Dr. Squires, SUCKS! Did I mention I had to go back to get my fillings fixed just 5 months later but their still not fixed. Cherry Hill Dental has perfect before and after images of parts of the tooth they were paid to fix and didn't even touch. So now, I have to go for a 3rd time to get them actually fixed and I might need a root canal because Dr. Squires dug so deep it's almost touching the root. The only thing I am going back to Fairview Dental for is to show them how terrible they are and that I am sending the picture to my insurance to get the money back. I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend Cherry Hill Dental right down the road. They are wonderful, timely, courteous, friendly, caring, and they know how to do their job, well worth going outside of my PPO. read more
