My husband and I regret having our wedding here. I waited months to write this review in hopes that my anger would subside but I just get more upset the more I think about how poorly this team handled our wedding. I will preface by saying we were refunded a small portion of what we paid due to the numerous errors made by Fairview Metropolitan. We had around 5 meetings here for wedding planning. Each time, the venue tent was so eloquently set up for the weddings or quinces hours in advance. I had so much confidence that our wedding would be treated the same, but it was sloppily thrown together in less than an hour. This venue had another event before our 5pm wedding. I had never seen two events on any of the days that we went in, and was not told that this would happen on our wedding day. It wouldn't have been a problem, I understand they are a business and prioritize profit, however the event before us was still occupying the tent when I got there at 4pm. The manager Shelley told me that they "could not get them to leave". My husband and guests state that the previous event finally vacated the tent around 4:05pm, leaving the team with 55 minutes to sloppily throw together our ceremony and banquet. Shelley informed me that there were three sick calls that day, leaving the management to do the set up. They completely misnumbered the tables, leaving all of our immediate family sitting in the back row. It was THEIR seating chart. With everything going on, we didn't notice until dinner had started. This error is absolutely inexcusable from a wedding venue. Since they only had less than an hour to set up our for our event, my husband and groomsmen offered to help tie the ~135 chair ties and had to stand on a ladder to help place the drapes on the ceremony awning. I don't see how the staff could have completed this without my party's help. Our guests had to wait in the cafe because nothing, including the ceremony chairs, was set up for our wedding until after 4pm. The cafe has limited seating and we had 134 guests. I had so much trust that this team would treat my wedding how I've seen them treat other weddings and quinces. If I had known this was all going on, I would have gone to facilitate and double check their inadequate work. Other major issues: 1. The food service started late and ran out and ended early. We were told there would be enough food for seconds for everyone, so we decided not to bring a lechon and lumpia. Huge mistake. Being from Asian and Hispanic backgrounds, we were completely embarrassed that the food ran out. There was not even enough bread for seconds. We even had 5 no shows so there's no excuse. 2. There were not enough appetizers. Many of our guests did not get any. 3. Our guests were told that the bar could not provide shots. That was not in our contract and alternatives were not offered. 4. The top layer of our cake was saved when it should have been served. This was in our plan, and it just went to waste rather than enjoyed by our guests. 5. They were understaffed by 3, however no one stayed over to accommodate for that. The management left before 8. Because the seating chart got completely misnumbered, there were tables without settings. Our friends had to SHARE FORKS because they could not find any staff. 6. There was no staff to guide our photographers to the banquet room as stated in the event order paperwork. They had to sit on the floor in the corner. So embarrassing 7. The manager didn't allow my husband to set up our DIY Photo Booth, breaking the contract because we should have been able to start setting up at 4. They even told us the day before that we could go at 3:30. This left us without our photo out even set up. My husband had to set it up during the wedding and we didn't have our backdrop. The good things about the venue: 1. Dog friendly 2. Trish was a great coordinator, I wish she could have managed the set up for our wedding instead of Shelley and Angela. My family said that they wouldn't even let her in to set up either and said she looked like the only person who actually care about our wedding. 3. The cake, dj, and flowers were great While the management's response was apologetic, there were so many excuses including "they're human and make mistakes". I understand this, but the numerous significant errors made on our wedding day felt almost intentional. I think the fraction of a refund was just to get me to stop complaining and not escalate the matter. Considering we paid for the elite package for 126 adults and 8 kids in July (most expensive package with highest facility fees), I thought we would've been treated at least as well as the other events that we saw. Fairview Metropolitan fell so short of how I've personally seen them perform and caused us so much embarrassment and shame on from our wedding day. I could never recommend it to anyone. The staff here at Fairview Metro are absolutely amazing! I loved working them! Plus side is that this venue is all inclusive! Planning my wedding was such a breeze! I didn't care much about the details I honestly left so much in their hands and I loved how everything turned out! Was searching for a venue for my mom's celebration of life and made a list of venues that could support 100+ guests. Fairvew Metro was NOT on the top of the list because I thought a) Did not want a venue on golf course b) did not want a venue in San Leandro/Oakland c) did not want a venue in a tent. Boy was I proven wrong! We checked out all major venues in San Leandro, San Ramon, Hayward and Sunol and this was by far the nicest facility that offered total flexibility and very, very personalized service. Despite having years of experience and many venues under their belts, Angela and Trish were NOT jaded like many of the other venues. They worked on every little detail, and always followed up with a detailed email of changes. They made great recommendations and made sure everything was perfect. The venue was very nice and parking was very safe and convenient. The tent was VERY classy, with lights and decorations. The table settings were very modern and every staff member from server, to bartender, to coordinator were there to make sure everything went off without a hitch. Fairview had the best value for the money and Angela and Trish gave us confidence that the event would be perfect, which it was. Several of my classmates and I are here for a meeting with the organizer (Anavenessa A) of weddings and events. It is also to finalize a contract with Anavenessa to host a reunion at this venue. The room for our reunion is spacious and can hold a group of 120 people. Besides having a dance floor, the package deal includes dinner and deejay. My husband and I have been here for a retirement party over five years ago. We enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious. The deejay did a fine job in entertaining us. Our reunion, which is two years overdue is a 52/52 one. Fifty-two years out of high school and most of us are born in 1952. Our reunion will be in November and here's hoping that it will be a memorable one. We just got through holding our high school reunion there on Sept. 23 and can't say enough good things about Deja, Director of Weddings & Events as well as the staff that decorated tables, served the food and drinks! We met with Deja several times over the year in which we were planning and she was very helpful in making the reunion a success. My hubby and I got married at Fairview 11.16 @ 4pm. WOW! Everything was perfect with Fairview from the beginning call with Kelley to the final goodbye on that magical night. Coordinator: Kelley - I can not brag on this amazing human enough. From our first talk, walk-through, emails, text, calls, multiple questions and meetings, she did an outstanding job!! Her advice, listening ear when everyone was getting on my nerves and calmness was greatly appreciated. Words can not express my gratitude. On the day of the wedding she took care of everything including me! Venue: Simple and gorgeous! The ceremony was right before sunset at 4:25 (I was late). No wind. A plane did go by but it's the airport next door and it wasn't super loud. I didn't do any of the gazebo decor but the background with the sparkling grass and white chairs, very elegant. The tent/reception was everything!! The reason I picked this venue was because of the tent. The drapery all around, with the spider lighting, twinkle lights and uplighting! Gorgeous! The place comes already decorated! Food: Even though I didn't eat any of appetizers, the food was good. Your typical wedding food but it was yummy. I don't recommend the veggie lasagna or the salmon. All the other salads, side dishes and main entrees were yummy. They have a really large menu. We had the food buffet style so there was so so much food. Everyone was able to eat twice. Bar: The drinks were great! The bartender Kathy was so friendly and made sure I had a drink all night. Our guest are still talking about how the drinks were great! Cake: I used their vendor, Mazzetti's for the cake. It was super moist, beautiful and yummy. The ladies at the bakery were very helpful and sent me pictures of cakes after I explained to them what I wanted. Fairview has affordable and flexible packages. They truly are a one stop shop, they have everything. I only used their vendor for the cake. We used our own DJ, who had the party going from the moment we stepped in the tent. I used Modish Events & Decor for my sweetheart table and wedding party tables. Go to one of their bridal fairs - you get prizes and discounts - which will pay off if you go with them. My husband and I had our wedding here just a few days ago and it absolutely exceeded our expectations. We had an evening ceremony/reception so the sunset was perfect and so beautiful. The weather was great for the outdoor ceremony. For the reception, we added the extra spider drapery, twinkle lights, gazebo flowers, and backdrop which made the reception area look amazing. We also added the day of coordinator who was Myra. It was definitely needed. When she was there, things went smoothly. She left after dinner, which was not so great because it was much harder to coordinate things after that, but the night still went well. The DJ, bartenders, and staff were really nice. They also let us bring our own sparklers which was really nice. We had a guest count of 200 people. They all fit in the reception just fine with the photobooth, projector, and welcome table. It did not seem too crowded. The buffet was set up in a separate room which was fine. Our package included the floral centerpieces and we added the extra gazebo flowers. The flowers were actually not the colors we asked for. There was some miscommunication, but they were still beautiful so it was fine. Although there were some minor issues that could happen at any venue, our guests told us they really liked the venue and had a fun and amazing time (we did too!!) We held our parents' Celebration of Life at Fairview Metropolitan on July 30, 2021. Event planning is ultra stressful and the pandemic just added to the mix. However, Angela Muse (our event director) made the process so effortless. She had so many helpful suggestions and was a true joy to work with. Very professional and courteous. With her assistance, we were able to customize a package that truly honored our parents' memory. This reception was held right after the church and burial services. We decided on appetizers, bar service and buffet dinner for 150 guests. The funeral services took almost 3 hours. By the time we got to Fairview, everyone was pretty hungry. When we arrived, all the appetizers and the bar service were ready and our guests were able to enjoy them right away. Appetizers were fabulous (I highly recommend the Ahi Tuna Tartar). The venue itself was beautifully set up. This was an afternoon event (no mood lighting) but it still had an elegant feel to it. We were also able to drop off the seating chart and pictures of our parents the day before our event (Fairview provided the easels). One less thing to do the day of the funeral. The buffet dinner was delicious and there was enough so that our guests could go for seconds if they wanted. Kudos to Kathy our bartender! Super friendly and kind. We felt so lucky to have her there. We had a video presentation and a Hula Show. We also had our brothers sing some songs and wanted to allot time for guests to pay tribute to our parents. DJ Andrew made all this happen. He provided the music, mikes, speakers and projection screen. The funeral ran long, and we arrived to the venue almost 45 minutes late. We were worried we'd go overtime with all we wanted to do, but DJ Andrew didn't let that happen. We were able to do all the presentations within our 4 hour time slot. He moved everything along so smoothly and didn't make it feel rushed. The dinner music was spot on for our family. We used the dance floor for the Hula Show and the singing which worked out perfectly. At the close of the event, he played 'Lovely Day'. That got everyone on the dance floor! He had mentioned to us that Celebrations of Life don't necessarily have to be sad occasions. He was right. Although we were sad to lose our parents, DJ Andrew made our event an unforgettable and true celebration of their lives. Many thanks to you DJ Andrew! Angela and the crew at Fairview Metropolitan really know their stuff. Our family is so grateful to them. This isn't the first time we've had an event with them. We held our daughter's wedding there in 2017. An equally flawless experience. Highly recommend this venue. Excellent, flexible and professional service. Oh and did I mention, plenty of free parking? Ok, well it pains me to write this update :( I haven't had a chance to speak to my friends and family much after the wedding, so when I got back into town for a family reunion, they gave me the rundown business about the food. Apparently, when I asked the chef to season her bland food, she decided to use only salt, and from what I was told too damn much of it! The appetizers were a hit, but the food did not sit well with a lot of people. Thinking they were just were being slightly dramatic, I was shown a few recorded video messages about the over saltiness of the food complaints. I did not have a chance to eat, so I was not aware of the problem, and since it was my special day, they decided to keep it from me. I expressed many times in meetings with the venue about the importance of the food temperature, and taste. I also expressed that after the second tasting, of the same bland tasting food, that the chef did not seem competent or knowledgeable when it comes to flavoring of food. There are many other types of seasonings other than salt! A true chef would know that, and they will also know to sample taste their own dishes to taste for the correct amount of flavor. The food is one of the major things people will always remember at a wedding, and I was assured that she would get it right for the wedding. Because of that, I had to take away two stars for the food. I would have taken away more, but I don't want to take away from the great job the wedding planners did for. My husband and I had our wedding here recently, and it was such a good time! The staff was very helpful throughout the planning process, answering all of our questions very thoroughly and timely, and checking in over the course of the months we were planning to make sure everything was in line. I'm especially thankful since I know often wedding planning causes high-stress levels, but while there were times of stress for us, for the most part that really wasn't our experience, so I'm grateful for all the help along the way! We had our ceremony at a different location so it could be inside (December evening is a little too cold for an outdoor wedding, plus it happened to rain that weekend), but still, getting to the location and parking at this reception site was easy for our guests, so it didn't seem to be a problem at all. The reason I give four stars instead of five is that on the day it seemed a little hard to find people to ask questions too. We didn't need much - they really did do an amazing job setting everything up, there were just a few random questions that came up, and we were missing the cake-cutting kit, and little things like that. We held our wedding reception here in June 2018. We were absolutely blown away by the level of service, the execution, and the overall outcome of our reception on the big day. We felt fortunate to have found this place on the budget that we had. All of the other venues we went to significantly priced us out and they hadn't included all the things Fairview contractually included: food, drinks, floral centerpieces, MC/DJ, and the YUMMY wedding cake, all with quality products and service of these third party vendors. Our guest count was 110 people of our very close family and friends. One of the significant compliments we received of our wedding was that the food & beverage staff were very attentive, super friendly, and fun! From the wait staff, bartender, the MC/DJ, and our coordinator, our guests loved them. My husband and I could attest to that in how we were treated that day. We absolutely loved the service. Our coordinator Claire really took care of business! One last thing I'll add is that this place is a beautiful all-white venue. It's a blank slate and a fresh canvas for you to lay your vision and freely create this day that you've dreamt of with details of your own and/or with the of the wide variety of options that Fairview provides. I got married here this past November and honestly had the best experience. Ordinarily wedding planning takes a lot of planning and preparation and I wasn't well versed in what was expected. Thankfully Angela is very skilled and experienced in this and was very helpful. She was patient with my husband and I while we were undecided on certain items and was flexible with our schedule. My husband and I started the whole wedding planning process back when we were living in Texas. We saw Fairview while we were visiting, fell in love with the venue, and flew back to Texas the next day. lol Angela and Anavanessa made the process so easy and were so accommodating. This was in March of this year so COVID restrictions were constantly changing. Angela kept us updated on everything that was going on. We had no idea what we were doing with 90% of the planning so we gladly gave everything over to Angela since we knew we were in great hands. She was also our day of coordinator and made sure everything ran smoothly. Somehow she was able to make sure everything ran smoothly and on time while keeping my family in line Everything at Fairview Metropolitan is top-tier. The food, the bakery they use for the wedding cake, the dj, the florist, the photographer, all the vendors. I always suggest this venue to newly engaged couples. I am an event planner who was tasked with finding a venue near the Oakland airport for an evening cocktail reception for approx 200 guests. The Fairview came up via the City of Oakland venue search site (Google brought me there) and was apprehensive at first since it was at a golf course and very much seemed liked a wedding venue (which is fine but I wasn't planning a wedding). But from the site visit, Kelley was wonderful at walking us through everything and I thought the pricing was very fair plus we could avoid the typical 25% service/taxes at a hotel. The tent was perfect for our event, our guests loved the vibe and the staff was very helpful at some last minute requests. We did the added twinkle lights which was worth it, especially when sun went down. I would for sure recommend this place to other event planners! read more

She patiently answered all of my questions and made sure I understood all of the little details. It was very easy to open up to her and can talk to her about anything. She was also very helpful when it came to details and answering any question. Like I said Myra would email and call to make sure I was comfortable with all the little details and was on top of everything. The day of the wedding it was everything I could image it to be. I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place yet! Last year I had my 18th birthday party at the Fairview Metropolitan and everything turned out PERFECT! Everything came out just as I imagined it. For starters, when looking for a venue we noticed that many other venues around the Oakland/San Francisco area had unreasonable prices for the venue they offered, their food choices, and the inconvenient restrictions they put upon their customers such as not being able to bring your own DJ. But at Fairview they have you choose from different packages depending on your needs so that spending was kept at a minimum. We were welcomed by the event coordinator, Angela who nicely let us take a look at packages and gave us a tour of the venue even though we stopped by without an appointment. Angela's service and compassion are the main reasons why we enjoyed our experience so much! She generously gave our party twinkle lights and draping that was supposed to cost a little extra in the package, she quickly responded to any questions or concerns I had through my email, and she was very VERY lenient with our payments that weren't paid on time which I appreciate so much. With the little time I had to plan my party, I couldn't have done it without the help of Angela and her team. If you are looking for a gorgeous venue at a very reasonable price, this is the place to go. read more

Having so many small and big details to decide on, choosing Fairview was by far the best and easiest because of the all inclusive deals they offered. The food was delish and the service was the best! Shout out to our bartender, unfortunately didn't get her name, but she personally made sure my husband and I had a drink all night. Our guests even raved about her! DJ Keel was awesome, had our guests on the dance floor ALL NIGHT!! Fairview Metropolitan was the perfect place to host our special wedding day on 8/28/21. We were hesitant at first to have a wedding during a pandemic, but the venue coordinators did an absolutely amazing job ensuring a safe and fun environment. Angela and Anavenessa were always responsive and attentive to our needs, and they did a fantastic job making sure our special day was perfect. I'm giving 3 stars only because Myra forgot to add our discount from the fall wedding fair and we had to correct her on that. We had also discussed what time i would arrive the day of my wedding which was 9 in the morning, when i got there she wasnt there and someone in the golf store had to let me in the bride room. When i get in there were dirty diapers sitting on the table next to my cups and champagne. . . my tables weren't setup the way i wanted so the guys setting them had redo all the tables. . .Kelly was the only one who made sure things went smooth after myras mess ups. The bartender for our wedding on 8/11/19 was amazing and DJ Andrew was great played all the song we wanted. .so if your planning your wedding here dont plan with myra. . and you will have a great wedding read more

Me and my husband had our beautiful wedding here at the Fairview. I was really impressed with all the help I got from this venue. Me and my husband only had 6 months to plan everything. So what sold us is the packages so it took alot off our plate. Planning a wedding was not easy and it was super stressful but with all the help i got from Myra and Brittney it made my planning alot easier. Everything turned out how i wanted!
