My husband and I just went into this store to get a possible quote for our home. The gentleman behind the counter seemed annoyed that we even came in the store at all. He was annoyed that we didn't know what kind of carpeting we wanted already, and because of his degrading tone and absolute annoyance with us, we decided to walk out in the first two minutes of being there. As we walked out, he yelled at us. It's not that hard to know what you want! I thought the purpose of going to a carpet store was to look around at the samples. I've never been treated this way for absolute no reason in my life. I don't understand this company at all. Decided to use a local small business for our new kitchen flooring. We knew pretty well what we were looking for, made our selections, and got an estimate done fairly quickly. It took many follow ups to schedule the job which was a little frustrating, but once we got our tile installed we were mostly satisfied. Unfortunately, less than six months later, the grout in our new kitchen tile floor started cracking and crumbling in many spots. We followed up with Fairway to see if they could do anything but were ignored and from our previous experience with them, it honestly doesn't seem worth the persistent follow up. Very disappointing to have paid for high quality porcelain tile floor for the durability (we have small kids and a dog), and a year in it is completely falling apart and looks terrible. My husband is going to have to attempt to repair it if we can ever find the time. read more

Please be warned about Fairway Tile and Carpet in Clawson. I used them successfully on 3 properties, 4 jobs. We then purchased carpet for the purpose of having a soft place to play in our bonus room. We told the store AND I personally told the installers that these were new hardwoods and the carpet was temporary while the children were little. Of course the installers also saw these beautiful floors with their own eyes. We recently grew tired of the carpet and pulled it up this weekend to find gouges in the hardwood around the perimeter of our room in regular intervals. This was done during the installation. I called Fairway Tile and Carpet and they initially denied that they could have done it. Said it was not possible. Then they called today (they promised to call back today so they could come take a look) and said they knew how it happened, but because I did not make sure that the invoice said "preserve hardwood", they will not be responsible. From our online research, the tool that was used should NOT have been used on hardwood - only subfloor or concrete. We are so upset because we tried to support a small local business, rather than Home Depot, etc and have been completely burned. Our floors are damaged and sharp and jagged. I gave them every chance to make this right - we even have extra boards because this was new construction at the time. The owner yelled at me, told me that if I post anything on social media that he will sue me for slander, and hung up on me. Please do not do business with this company. They do not stand behind their work or mistakes. Find another flooring company - there are many. read more

I'll start by saying I love the carpet I selected and my service experience was good (while I was in the active buying process). I think it's important to note that their installation costs are low for a reason. There's one installer who comes out to your home, so expect days of work (we had 3 for 1,000 sq. ft). Once the install was complete, I noted some seams that were very noticeable in several rooms. I was told it will look better in a few months after we'd had some foot traffic...but it didn't, particularly where the carpet didn't line up correctly. So I called. And called. And two months later the owner came out to look at the "issue." He agreed it needed to be fixed and said they would come out in a few weeks. A few weeks went by and I called again. And again. And again. Always being told I'm "next on the list" or "soon." After 3 months, I finally had my husband call. Yep, had to play the angry man card because I was being ignored. A week later, the installer came out to "fix it" and was upset to learn his boss had been out to review his work. Oh, and he refused to wear a mask. So do you homework and remember you get what you pay for at Fairway! And if you select them, pray you don't need to come out for any fixes! Buyers Beware! Mother paid a premium for tile & labor and the finish was extremely poor when Fairway refused to properly lay tile to meet new wood flooring without a gap or threshold. It is a true shame. Both owner/contractors refuse to address situation in a professional manner and advise Mom to go see a lawyer. They worked really hard to get everything done in one week (they had to remove existing, 25 year old ceramic tile and re-install a beautiful new ceramic tile in 2 rooms). They made the deadline! I am leaving this review based upon a service I NEVER received. I walked into the showroom several weeks ago. April 27th to be exact. I knew exactly what I wanted and told John. He quickly sent someone out to our home the following Tuesday. A week later I had to call to get an update on the estimate. I was told he would be looking over our project next. A few more days had passed. I reached out AGAIN to get an update. John told me a price, I agreed. I asked what the next step was. He told me it would take 7-10 days for the tile to arrive and at that time he would call me and we could schedule the install. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and gave it an extra few weeks. It is now June 3rd and I finally called this morning to get an update. SHOCKER, there is none. I was told they would look at my file and call me back. I called AGAIN, and now the tile company does not know where the tile is.I received a call back and the tile is "in port" and it could be another two weeks. Bullshit, it was never ordered. I am beyond disappointed in this company. I tried to support a small business and THIS is why small businesses are falling to big box stores. This was my first time purchasing or having carpeting installed. Fairway did an excellent job the whole way, making sure that the finished product was something we wanted. The service was far superior to the other stores I had visited. The turnaround on installation was perfect as well. The installers arrived when expected and did a fantastic job...going above beyond (in spite of our kids running around and taking interest in the activity) in both the installation and clean-up. We went to Fairway with a small need - we have some damaged tile in one of our bathrooms and simply needed a close match to replace the broken pieces. (One box of tile and some grout). While it was clear that the person helping us knew his product and found us a really good match - it was equally clear that he was highly annoyed at having to help us. He was at best abrupt, and overall his demeanor was really condescending. He was so snotty that at the counter rather than ordering the materials - my husband said we had to go back and Re-measure the tile. This was not true of course we just didn't want to do business with someone who clearly was not interested in doing business with us. While I understand that this small sale was not going to impact his bottom line - a customer is still a customer. What he didn't consider is our future needs. We are going to Re- carpet my moms condo and that job is likely to run around $4000. I can promise you we won't use Fair Way. read more
