Impressed by the reviews I decided to give this place a try but honestly, it was a bad idea. This is for sure a tourist trap, in the middle of the shopping street. I ordered a Shawarma sandwich with fries and drink for 79 DKK. Meat tasted like clove, bread was prepackaged and after toasted very hard, fried were frozen and from the supermarket. Six Dolmas for 30DKK. In Europe, Ketchup and Mayo mixed together is the typical dipping sauce for fries. The mall and it's side streets are especially busy on weekends and is great for walking and people watching. You can go from Tivoli Gardens on one end to Nyhaven on the other in about half an hour. Restaurant was clean with two upstairs (front and back) and first floor seating. Sun-Dried Tomato and Pepper purée on each table to allow you to burn your palette. My first meal in Copenhagen was a Shawarma Sandwich at Falafel-House. Reasonably priced, the food was also quite tasty. They prepare the main sandwich with the meat and then you can add on onions and cole slaw/cabbage as well as a couple of other toppings yourself at the end. Stumbling out from a bar and feeling hungry after gulping ginormous amount of alcohol late at night? Worry not, this place can be your savior when you're in the strøget area in the Copenhagen centrum. Mina K tipped me that this is the place to get fries and fries were what we got last night (actually an extra falafel for me which was also very good!) and I must concur to her review that the fries are really really good. Well, not as good as the duck-fat fried copper & wheat fries from the Papirøen stall, but this is like the cheaper alternative of that one. Whatever it was, it's an option to fill up the tank so that the alcohol won't splosh around in your stomach after such hard time "partying" with your friends in town. Who would have thought that this would be the place to get the best French Fries in Copenhagen? I have brought 4 different parties of people in here, just to have them taste their fries, and they've all agreed with me. They're simply the best. Their secret is double-frying them! Also, people might disagree with me on this point, but I find their Kebaps and Dürums extremely tasteful and well-made. The quality of both their Beef-Shawarma and Chicken-Shawarma is really good. This is one of my favorite places to go for a kebab in Downtown Copenhagen. Therefore, due to their high quality of meat, and their fries which are the best in Copenhagen, I've granted them a Five star review in the category of a quick fast food restaurant. So the Shwarma was supposed to be marinated oxe-lamb meat.. I'm thinking more like roadkill. It reminded me of Swedish moose meat, which I hate because it's totally dry and you have to chew it for 20 minutes and your jaws end up aching. 96 (!!) DKK for a plate with some hummus and salad. The guy behind the counter must've had a bad day or something, ok so it's Monday, but still he seemed pretty annoyed judging by the way slapped the ingredients onto the plate. Sauce flying all over the place. I really don't get the four or five star reviews.. or even the three star reviews.. Including a bottle of water the entire meal ended up costing me about 150 SEK, which around double what I pay back home. Ok, so the place is on a side-street from the main shopping drag, so maybe I should've expected this, but still way overpriced. My suggestion is to avoid this place or at least the Shwarma plate. read more

I'm a big fan of this place. Just when you think you're going to have to break the bank to find something decent to eat, along comes this kebab shop/shawarma house/falafel den with its great prices and wait for it........ Great tasting food. Really. I had the shawarma and it was packed with lots of meat and salad and some nice dressings. My wife had the kafta burger and it was also very nice. The portion size was just about right for me. Not too massive, but definitely not small either and perfect for a lunchtime meal. All up I paid DKr75 for the two "sandwiches". Good one. read more

Great central location and reasonably priced for a filling meal. Pretty yummy but wouldn't go out of my way to this spot. Great if you just happen to be nearby and want something quick. The space is kept clean and the booths are cozy. Would definitely recommend trying the sundried tomato sauce on the tables. So apparently you CAN get good, cheap food in centrum. We got the shawarma here and it was OK, but the star of this meal was definitely the fries. I have to agree with Magnus K., the double-frying makes them irresistable. This is a good place to stop and rest your feet after a day of sightseeing and maybe even do some people-watching if you manage to get a table by the window upstairs. For a quick bite I'd stop again, and probably explore the menu some more. Was really tired of Scandinavian food so I got two sandwiches: the donor kabob and the falafel. I dig their falafel, but the donor kabob? Okay, the meat was good quality but cut with the grain. That meant a lot of chewing to break it down. This was the first shawarma place I visited in Copenhagen based on the positive 11 Yelp reviews. These type of shawarma places are everywhere in Copenhagen and it makes sense. They all have meat, which has been marinated and seasoned, rotating around a heated spit. It's hypnotizing, and if you are hungry and see this meat rotating and roasting, it will get you in the mood for shawarma pretty quickly. This being said, if I was going to give in to my shawarma temptation, then I needed to pick a place that met my expectations. I came here at around 7pm with my sister and we both ordered the shawarma plate with hummus, yogurt, and pita bread. The meat portions were ridiculous! Neither of us finished our plates. The meat was so soft, tender, and well marinated. The best part was the price. Only 70 to 90DKK per meal. I don't recall the exact price but I do remember we both felt that we definitely got our moneys worth. I also want to mention the great customer service we received. The proprietors of the establishment were so friendly and seemed to really value our business. They even asked how our meal was and thanked us for stopping by as we were leaving. This place is worth the trip if you need a good meal for a great price. read more

Super delicious middle eastern food. I had a shawarma sandwich and fries. Both were excellent and a good value. Chile oil/paste served in bowls without lids on the table -- didn't seem very sanitary but I was craving spicy and am glad I risked it. We had a decent shawarma and fries the other night at Falafel House. The meat was good, and we liked the sauce they put in the shawarma, in fact we asked for more sauce and lettuce about halfway through. The bread was a bit dry. The fries were good, but certainly not the best in Copenhagen (as stated by another reviewer). A quick meal in the center of Copenhagen, and not expensive either - 66 DKK (10 dollars). The worst falafel i have had in a while. Instead of handing the falafel to the other guy, the guy working there threw it across the room where it hit both the counter and the wall before going into my pita. They ignored my request for garlic dressing and were generally goofing around a lot, not paying attention. Not a good experience and I won't be coming back. read more

The middle finger from the chief kebabier summed up my entire experience of this total sleazepit. Cold overpriced durum which is usually a highlight in the weekend of my usually bleak weekday existance was a total chore and resulted in confrontation and gesticulation from the meat slicers. Threatening and tasteless the kebab left a sour taste in my mouth. In the words of Oscar Wilde "The public is wonderfully tolerant. It forgives everything except genius." Not only is the food great, but these guys saved our lives!! We locked ourselves out of our rental apartment a couple of doors down. They called the locksmith, got him out in 30 minutes and invited us to,stay at their shop until he came. Unbelievable. We were so grateful. Be sure to check out their food. read more
