Nothing has changed I see. Way back in 2007 I went here cuz they took Cornell's Dental plan. Dr. Kapur failed to properly remove the decay before applying the fillings. Just like so many others have experienced. I got fed up & demanded my deposit back for a root canal. They lied, hesitated, told me "refund is on it's way" & other stall tactics. Meanwhile I had to have another dentist repair her shitty work, costing me near $1500 out-of-pocket. After 7 months, they still refused to return my deposit...she could not fill 2 cavities properly, no way I was going to trust her with a root canal. Finally, I walked into the office & through "vivid imagery" explained to them it would be in our mutual best interest to return my deposit within 72 hrs. I had waited long enough & suffered due to her incompetency, not to mention the financial loss. Within one day I got a call from them informing me, "I could pick up a check for my full deposit or have them mail it to me". All I will say is, "Folk value their health over $". That was nearly 20 yrs ago! Yet I read she has not became any better of a dentist or person. So, please consider this -- they were bad then & still are just as bad. But if u think I'm lying, go & find out. Why am I doing a review now...cuz I'm looking for a new dentist (my beloved dentist after the horrible Dr. Kapur, sadly passed away recently) & while reading reviews for prospective new dentists I came across the reviews for Dr. Kapur & was amazed she is still destroying people's teeth nearly 20 years after she botched 2 simple fillings & caused me to wait 7 months for a menial $400 root canal deposit. read more

Been a customer here for years. The Dr. Is always very nice and does a great caring job. Appointments with the Dr. Are not to hard to get . however, As for cleaning teeth this portion of the staff is hard to keep. I just received a call canceling my Sept appointment that has been scheduled for a year ..now they say first app I can get is in March 2026 I very unhappy with this outcome but finding people who can and want to work is in a disaster for everyone. 0 stars, if it was allowed, or even negative stars. I am finally done with this practice. There was a period of a few years where my semi-annual cleanings ended up being scheduled 12+ months apart. The day of my 2nd to last appointment, I received a phone call asking if i could come in about 2 hours earlier as they had a cancellation. I said sure and went, only to arrive at the office to be told that I was not the person they should have called to move up. Chalked it up to a mistake even though I was annoyed. At today's appointment, they cancelled on me as I was unable to confirm the appointment in the amount of time the practice wanted me to. I confirmed my appointment almost 3 entire days in advance (their info requests 24 hour notice for cancellations) and when I arrived for the appointment I was informed that it had been cancelled as I had not confirmed it, which was a lie. The practice was looking for a confirmation 4 days out and I was unable to take a phone call that day due to poor cell service so I called the following day and left a message (again, almost 3 entire days ahead of my scheduled appointment). The ability of this office to be organized leaves a LOT to be desired. read more

I came here because I was having a bit of a dental emergency (filling fell out and I couldn't eat or drink without pain) and a colleague who knows the dental insurance plan we have - and what options for dentists are available in Ithaca - comes here and has had positive experiences. I don't know HOW she's had positive experiences, because my own experiences were anything but positive. All the negative reviews here reinforce my own experiences, and I will say this without any hesitation: DO NOT EVER COME HERE. You're better off going to Aspen Dental or pretty much anywhere else. All my visits were with Dr. Mauleon (besides the hygienist for my general cleaning during one of my visits - admittedly, the hygienist was very pleasant) who seemed to be making every effort he could to treat me like a child and basically convince me of all the awful things that would happen to my teeth without constantly being back for additional appointments. Meanwhile, after a root canal treatment in Amherst (because that was the location for a highly rated specialist who accepted my dental insurance), I came back here for the final part of the process and placement of my crown - and what happened? Dr. Mauleon basically ground away the entire above-gum portion of my tooth before going to put on the crown. Are you kidding me!??!? Completely unnecessary! On top of that, he basically wanted to take out and re-fill any of my fillings - and let's be honest, it was so that he could charge my insurance even more. While I was sitting in the chair waiting for my crown treatment (thank god I was at least a bit numb already), he actually drilled into one of my teeth without telling me beforehand that he was going to do so - in order to get rid of the filling that was there and re-fill it. EXCUSE ME?! Honestly, I could go on and on about how negative my experiences were at this location... and, sadly, I felt at the time like I had no choice because I was in the midst of getting my full root canal/crown process completed. Now that my root canal/crown experience is done (except, shocker... now it needs to be fixed), I've taken the time to review the list of providers for my dental insurance AND compare to online reviews (Yelp, Google Reviews, etc). I've found an alternative office (out of town - but that has excellent reviews, takes my insurance, and I'm willing to make the drive for) that I'm on a wait list for as they work to catch up with existing patients before accepting news ones (an unfortunate set of circumstances because of the pandemic, but a reality of these times none the less). Let it be noted that I will wait 4-6 months for a new dental office before EVER stepping foot back into this monstrosity of a practice. TL;DR Absolutely not. Never again. STAY FAR AWAY. read more

I just changed over to FCFD and they called me this morning, after waiting for a few months to get an appointment with them saying my appointment has to be changed to 7 months from now because the hygenist isn't there on the day they made the appointment for me! How ridiculous & irresponsible is that!!! I think I'm going to call another dentist who can get me in sooner. This is very bad business practice and terrible public relations!? read more

Had an appointment Sept 2021. Called me hour before to cancel the appointment do to lack of staff. Made new appointment for April 2022 (only time available). The day before they cancelled again same reason. Want me to wait now until November 2022. So that is 1 year and 2 months from my original appointment day. Good job Fall Creek Dental. I should have trusted the negative reviews. I had such bad experiences here that I eventually changed to an out of network dentist where I have to pay out of pocket and be reimbursed just so I could get appropriate dental care. My new dentist has had to FIX fillings that were done improperly at Fall Creek, which then caused further issues -- and these were fillings that I told them did not feel right but they never did anything to fix. They were also very rude, basically ignoring me while they were working in my mouth and instead gossiping with each other over top of my head. Don't go here! read more

Bizarre "Masks-For-Profit" Scheme Forces Cancellations, Amuses Staff We've had largely positive experiences regarding dental care at this practice. I know that good businesses can descend into indifference and callousness without much provocation. Yet I feel this story characterizes Fall Creek Family Dentistry well. I had just been diagnosed with a serious illness, and undergone a painful procedure. While still in pain and emotionally vulnerable, I received a phone call from Fall Creek Family Dentistry to reschedule the appointments for myself and my two children to a different hygienist and a slightly earlier time that day. I accepted because it did seem convenient - I would be driving the kids around town immediately prior to the appointment time, and an earlier end to the day was welcome since driving was painful. Upon arriving to the practice (10 minutes early! Wow!) after guitar lessons, groceries, more guitar lessons, lunch, and a playdate, I realized we had forgotten our masks. I called before entering the building apologizing that we'd forgotten our masks and asking if we could borrow three for our appointments. We were told we could go home and get them, purchase some from the neighboring drugstore, or purchase them from the practice. I mentioned that seemed unreasonable, that we would be happy to borrow from the supply they are using for their staff, and - since it is mandated - surely a reasonable practice to ensure COVID safety would be to provide masks to clients in the event they are forgotten or otherwise unsatisfactory. I was interrupted and put on hold. Before being put on hold I had been rummaging through the car and actually found a mask. I entered the building immediately to finish my sentence and found that the front desk staff was stifling laughter at my expense. Imagine the kind of people that find it funny when a woman is experiencing physical and emotional pain, is doing her best to follow protocol, and is needing help. These are the people that are the literal face of Fall Creek Family Dentistry. I asked again to borrow masks for my two children and was told again I could go home, purchase from next door, or purchase from them. I was honestly just fatigued and in pain at this point. Whatever you do, DO NOT GO HERE. It seems like a good deal, they are cheap and (when I went here) take the Cornell insurance. It will end up costing you WAY more to fix everything they botch and every corner they cut.... Which doesn't even begin to hint at the hidden fees they don't tell you about and don't quote for you, and then the absolute lack of common courtesy. I was actually verbally abused by one of the dentists on my last visit. While having two fillings (which literally fell out of my mouth about six months later to reveal the decay they had been just simply placed over top of), their son was running in and out of the procedure room... I'm all for family, but the work was done sloppily, maybe she was distracted, I don't know. This is really only the beginning of the story. Just don't go here. I suffered for about 6 months with constant tooth pain after they "fixed" a couple of routine cavities. And it has now cost me literally thousands ($2000 out of pocket, plus whatever was covered by my insurance) to fix what they did. Save yourself the money and go to a proper dentist. I had my teeth cleaned today with Francis - he was amazing. Completely thorough, nice, funny, explained my insurance and my xrays to me. Talked to me about sensitivity and fluoride. I mean, generally an expert in dental health and a great guy. I will request him when I go back again this summer. Yes, the dentist told me that I am in charge of my own dental health and my own potential areas to watch. Duh. If you want a dentist to baby you at 25+ years of age on controlling your own oral health, go somewhere else, and have fun paying out the @$$ for dental work. But this dentist will tell you EXACTLY what you need to do to avoid a lot of pain and money spent, so listen to him. I can't speak for dental work - I haven't had dental work here. But they seem thorough. You don't pay them to hold your hand, you pay them to save your teeth. I don't understand all of these bad reviews. Terrible dentists. True chop shop. I had a bridge performed and I was in pain for over a month. 3 times I've returned to have it re installed and it has yet again come out. The bridge they made was as cheap and incorrectly made as possible. I heard bad reviews from friends but my insurance sent me to them. I decided to roll with it and see for myself. BAD CHOICE. I have entrusted my Family's Detail care to Fall Creek Family Dentistry for over 30 years. They are great Dentists and even better compassionate people with common sense and a caring attitude. My family's genetic history for maintaining their teeth is not very good. BUT I have not had to lose all my teeth, in fact I have a pretty good set intact and I'm still smiling! I found that my health is much better after actually taking my Dentists (and more importantly, the Hygienists) advice! You can trust the Dentists at this office to give you good care. read more

Had a terrible experience here with Dr. Kapur. She destroyed two of my teeth to make a bridge. Both required root canals after she ground them down too far. The bridge she made did not fit and could not be used. The temporary bridge was made by an assistant and I got a bad infection because it was so loose and flapping. Kapur was on the phone when working on my teeth. Kapur made horrible remarks about all the other dentists in town. She denied doing anything wrong and was horribly rude, as was her staff, and then she called all the dentists in town to try to get them to agree she didn't do anything wrong. Despite arriving earlier, was still made to wait an additional 45 minutes before seeing the doctor! When contacted their office to forward my X-Rays, was informed to pay $10.00 USD!!! I visited Fall Creek Dentistry because it was one of the few dentists in Ithaca that my questionable insurance would cover. I went in for a routine cleaning. The dental hygienist was lovely! She did such a great job, and was very kind. The male dentist...had the personality and patient manner of a dirty sock. I have perfect teeth, and I know this. I just wanted a cleaning to confirm this, and you know, make them a little more sparkly. He made me feel like I would get cavities the next day (I won't) and treated me like a child (I'm 30). I could hold my own in that terrible office, but it made me sad for people who have lower levels of health literacy, and may accept what the dentist says without question. read more

The doctors were not careful with checking at all, every time I had to tell him where to grind down. How am I supposed to know dentistry, he should know his business!!! I have been getting my cleanings and X-rays done here for several years. My experiences have been good. PROS: It's always easy to schedule cleanings, and never have to sit in the waiting room very long, especially if I'm the first appointment after lunch. Some of the hygienists are very thorough and all of them are pretty gentle. The hygienists and dentists answer questions thoroughly (then again, I'm just there for simple cleanings and X-rays). I have a few spots on one of my teeth that we've been watching for years at this point; I appreciate that I don't feel pressured to have unnecessary work done. CONS: I had one cleaning a while ago that took less than five minutes--the least thorough cleaning I've ever had. That seems to be the exception to the rule, though. After the hygienist finishes, there is ALWAYS a significant wait for the dentist to see you. Once the dentist finally comes into the room, s/he (there are two, a male and a female) spends less than 60 seconds in the room. A quick peek in my mouth and that's it. I'd rather get back to work 20 minutes earlier than wait around for that. I have never had significant work done here, just cleanings and X-rays. If that's all you need, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Fall Creek Family Dentistry. read more

If could give zero stars, I would! Don't go here! Our dental insurance investigated them and found that the crown work done by one of the female dentists there was not done properly and failed. Caused a lot of physical discomfort and pain and fell out twice (went back to have it fixed). After investigation, insurance reimbursed us the full amount on the service due and found them to have done the procedure incorrectly. Then when changing dentists, requested copy of record. Was provided 2 pages of the record and charged $10! Found out later according to NY law it is illegal for dentists to charge for records unless it's a large record (several pages). Terrible! Short- They don't seem to be able to diagnose anything confidently, will give unnecessary prescriptions and are very unclear about payment. Very poor customer service if anything goes slightly wrong they become rude and downright mean. (long below) Long- It's no surprise to see other awful reviews. I wish I paid attention and never came here. Dr. Kapur didn't do anything for my oral pain, gave me an unnecessary prescription that I didn't want (or get) and charged me out of pocket for it because my insurance didn't cover the prescription. They blamed me for this and said I should have read my explanation of benefits - I was actually covered here but the unnecessary prescription changed the appointment type to one I would have to pay for. I told the doctor that I didn't want it during the appointment and they never informed me that it would change the appointment type. It was an antibiotic prescription that she gave me without even looking at, culturing or taking any of samples.. It was literally a guess. I am a veterinary student and felt entirely uncomfortable with this. After charging me, they refused to work with me and were SO rude I was shocked, she yelled! She kept saying it was my fault that I didn't read my insurances explanation of benefits but I asked if they covered the appointment. They sent all correspondence to the wrong address and sent the debt to collections, when I asked them about it they said it was my fault because I wrote the wrong address - totally ignoring me when I said I would never have done that. I didn't even accuse them but she blamed me anyway and said it was my fault I didn't inform them of a change of address- she wasn't even paying attention! When she started yelling at me I told her not to talk over me like that because it was rude. She said ok and hung up! I really hate to rant but I am really in shock at how awful my experience was and how they feel they can get away with this. Telling everyone I know NOT to go here. read more

I have been going here for about 10 years and am happy overall. I have had everything from cavities to a root canal and crown (in 2008?) which is still intact and in good shape). But for the last several years I have been good with 6 month cleanings. The hygienist I see (a man whose name I do not know) is always gentle and friendly. Dr. Mouleon is the dentist I usually see who just breezes in for the last couple of minutes to take a look and breezes out. He is always friendly and answers questions if I have them. read more

I'll give a short and a long: The short: Best cleaning ever (by Jennifer the very kind and attentive hygienist) Great service - very friendly and quick to attend VIP service- they really don't rush you out and they take their time with you as if you're their only patient They take a lot of insurance including Gannett SHPM and are very inexpensive Very happy!! I don't know why there are bad reviews- but maybe the service has changed because mine was amazing. The long: This place is really great. I'm always skeptical (after a very bad trip to a dentist a few years ago) and since then I'm very picky. I'm a vet student at Cornell and at home (in NYC) I travel 1.5 hours for my amazing dentist Dr. Grillo in Jamaica Queens. I have lived in Ithaca for 2 years and always waited to go to NYC for dental work but because of travel and a time crunch I had to choose an Ithaca place. I just had my first trip here and I am so happy to have a dental place in Ithaca! The place is clean and surprisingly large. It seems relaxed and well staffed with a steady patient flow (based on my short time there). They are in a convenient area (N Cayuga) and they have a parking lot = convenient! I'm sure there are other minor things that contributed to my overall good experience but you should go see for yourself! Just to be totally unbiased and make it very clear that I'm not just giddy after a trip (because I really am very picky and never take the time to write reviews unless it's really worth it). I'll name the 2 flaws (that were minor enough that I didn't feel the need to take away any stars) -the receptionist I had was new and needed (a brief) moment to figure out the code to put - I went for an impression for a mouth guard and when I left I realized I had white crust on my face but nobody told me. She gave me dozens of great recommendations like changing mouthwash, Zellies, and anti-cavity toothpaste. They do excellent work and I trust them as my dentists in Ithaca. read more

I just started going here because they had good reviews and take Delta Dental plan, which really does help cover a lot of stuff. I'm so happy I've found these folks! The front office is well-staffed and quick and professional, and they seem to have no trouble figuring out insurance stuff. There's a large waiting room with a kids' play area, which I really appreciate since I intend to bring my kids here for their own appointments. Both times I've gone in, my appointments started right on time, and went very quickly - not rushed-feeling, just very efficient. The cleaning was really thorough; they sold me some extra-fluoride toothpaste to help protect my teeth until next time, and took time to answer all my questions. The filling I had done was totally painless and was the quickest filling I've ever had done in my life. The dentist is soooooo incredibly nice and friendly, and the cute pictures of their kids make the office feel homey and kid-friendly. Also, I'm trans, and they're totally using my preferred pronoun even though I totally don't look like it's my pronoun (yet), which I so appreciate! Will definitely recommend this place to friends and family. read more

TERRIBLE! Do NOT let these people make a cap or bridge for you or do any kind of drilling like for a cavity. They have NO idea what they are doing. They should be investigated to see if they even have real credentials. Dr. Kapur completely ground down two perfect teeth of mine to the gumline in order to make a bridge that never should even have been made. I had to get a crown lengthening and have two emergency root canals, done elsewhere, and the bridge they made was horrible and didn't fit and I still had to pay for it and then get another one made. Bottom line? Trying to save a little money b/c they took my dental insurance ended up costing me over EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS to try to repair their horrible work, and I am still in pain. I had to wait more than 15 minutes every time I had an appointment at this place. My husband repeatedly waited for over an hour. The hygienist repeatedly assigned to me was a total Nazi about flossing and spent the whole time complaining about improper medical billing - total psycho. The only cavity they ever filled for me was a harrowing experience. Dr. Mauleon told me lower jaw Novocaine only works 70% of the time, so for every 10 seconds of the procedure, I would feel 3 seconds of pain (I subsequently was told this is a complete fabrication). He actually giggled when he told me this! After enduring the beginning of the procedure, I insisted he either give me additional Novocaine or end the procedure. He shot so much Novocaine into my jaw that I was numb for 12 hours. I had to have the filling fixed 3 days later because I was in so much pain from the botched filling. I am still having intermittent pain 3 years later and will need a root canal to fix the tooth. My husband's crowns never stayed in place when Fall Creek Dentist put them on. He has since had them replaced elsewhere and they have never been a problem. These people are unprofessional, rude and sadistic. They should be investigated for insurance fraud and shut down. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I hesitated in writing this review because I really wanted to make sure and give this a fair and objective review, but decided that in fact I feel so strongly about the service I received there I must warn others. On the first visit the service was prompt, the hygienist was polite and personable...it wasn't until I saw the actual dentist that things took a downward turn. Upon seeing the dentist although I've been seeing my family dentist back home since I had teeth to look at, the male dentist tried to inform me that I had nearly 16 cavities, most of which would need to be filled immediately and that my family dentist of 20 years had neglected to tell me about. Considering I have soft teeth and had prior cavities I can believe I had a few, but 16 seemed a bit of a stretch especially considering that at my last five month check I didn't have any blaring warning signs of a cavity. However, being cautious as I am about my dental health I thought I would go ahead and get them filled rather than risk having my 'teeth fall out of my head the next day' as the dentist seemed to imply would happen if I didn't have them filled immediately. Big mistake...If the devil had an occupation it would be a dentist, never before have I been so terrified of being in the dentist chair than after the rude and arrogant female dentist man handled my mouth. Not only did she never once try to initiate conversation, she handled my mouth as though she were a shoddy mechanic.I was never even given the option between silver or composite fillings. Only at my repeated requests to find out what she was doing did she roughly respond. Within minutes of her walking into the room she tilted my head back, stabbed me in the mouth and began screwing all types of metal contraptions and machinery in my mouth, and shoving silver into the fillings rather than the composite fillings, while carrying on a conversation with the hygienist about personal issues. I left with a mouth full of silver fillings and come to find out at most these did not need work or were not actual cavities and she took away a lot of healthy tooth material in the process leaving my teeth even more sensitive and traumatized than they were before. My teeth didn't hurt before but they do now all the time. Moral of the story: don't go here or get a second opinion, and please for your sake do not let them do major work on your mouth, it's sketchy at best. read more
