Today I was standing around the popcorn which they give for free. A few older ladies were standing there trying to get some but it was empty with a little on the sides. 4 staff members were standing behind it and did nothing. One of the old ladies even said something to them. Trying be helpful I tapped on the side of the box to drop some of the popcorn and this guy in a green shirt who yelled at me and told me to stop I would break the glass. And I should've just asked him to scrape the side. He scrapped the crumbs and didn't fill the popcorn machine. 1 person got the crumbs and the rest stood waiting. I would go anywhere but here. Every visit has had a rude staff member to me or someone else.

No thanks. I left without making a purchase and don't plan to return as long as they steal from their customers.

It is not what it seems by its name. It really only has one big department - outdoorsmanship. If you can wear it, walk in it, camouflage in it, shoot it, cut with it, or lock it safely away in a cool metal safe, Saloom's has it in a variety of sizes and colors. Ever since I started coming out to this part of Appalachia and was introduced to this great old store, I have made my annual pilgrimage over Christmas. It is the place to get those unusual (for me) gifts for the brothers in law who spend most of their free time hunting and fishing in the beautiful hills and vales of this part of the Allegheny Mountains. Boots, Camo jackets and pants, steel blades for every purpose, insulated hunter's overalls, bows, arrows, ammo, scopes and a million Woolrich sweaters and Browning shirts piled high on shelves in the back room in amazingly attractive styles. All this in a 3rd generation store with broad plank floors, and 12 foot tintype ceilings. There is even a 14 point elk on the wall guarding the premises. I always manage to find something that I like, and whatever I get for my brothers is always appreciated. Today, I found two 3 button sweaters in cotton and wool that fit me and instantly made me look like Jeremiah Johnson. Son needed a new camo sweatshirt, and the dad in law liked the feel of his new pocketknife with its glimmering Georgia Steel blades. I am an easy mark in Salooms, coming from back East, and lacking the growth of beard and twangy argot of the locals. Still, they know who I am and my people, so tolerate my presence knowing I will be leaving with a nice chunk of their inventory. If you ever find yourself in this part of the world and love the touch and feel of a true piece of old fashioned American mercantilism, track down Saloom's and take a look around. I defy you to walk out without something you never knew you needed, but suddenly cannot live without.

Sure enough they have hunting and fishing licenses and I think everything you could imagine for hunting and fishing....so much nicer than these big super stores which by the way I avoid at all costs so my advice would be to stop by and check them out...good friendly people that know what they are talking about

It's not a mall in the sense that there are chain stores located within, but it's a mall when you consider that there are local stores. This place spans anywhere from a half a block to a block. With this building it includes, I believe, the building next to it and possibly the one next to that. It's a nice little mix of small town business. From what I gathered, and no there is no directory, they have a banquet type room to hold parties (the day I was there they were about to hold a painting party), a book store, a handmade craft store, vitamin shop and a cafe. The floors above seem to hold offices for businesses and medical needs. It's quaint and unique, that is for sure.

The department store was two stories and had escalators. The selection of women's clothing was gigantic! The departments for men's, girls', and boys' clothing were a good size also, as were the departments for shoes, accessories, housewares, beauty products, etcetera. They also had a chocolate bar that sold fudge and other products. Prices were low. For example, I bought a pair of slippers that had a suggested retail price of $24 but were on sale for only $10--bargain! The slippers look stylish and feel comfortable to wear. Several cash registers were spread throughout the store, and a few cashiers were available to serve me. My cashier accurately rang up my purchase, and she politely thanked me for visiting. The only reason why I knocked off a star is because I found only one product to buy, but I could imagine other customers coming here and going on a shopping spree!

As far as selection, there is so much to look at, I almost always come home spending more than I planned. The shoe department is especially good. So is the handbag department. Actually every department I have shopped has had a good assortment and I can find things I want. They also have a Clearance center with REALLY low prices on the second floor.

I asked if the 4-week timeline could be guaranteed, and she told me it could not -- in fact, she said it would likely be longer than that. This directly contradicted what we had just been told over the phone. At this point, we are nearly four months in with no clear or reliable delivery timeline. The lack of transparency and inconsistent communication has been extremely disappointing. I would strongly caution others about purchasing furniture from this store if it requires warehouse delivery, as the estimated timelines do not appear to be accurate or dependable.
