On December 14th, 2017, I left my home on the coast of NC in the Stump Sound village area heading…read moreto Wallace Elementary and Middle School for my grandson's Science Fair. I'd completed 30 of the 60 miles when I realized that while gathering the presentation, I had accidentally left my grandson's dress shirt and khaki's at home. Knowing that my Peebles store 5119 would be on the way in Wallace, I continued on instead of turning around for his clothes. I didn't have my Peebles card but knew it only would take a minute to look it up at checkout. After selecting an appropriate outfit, the situation went downhill quickly, the next hour was unbelievably stressful for everyone within the store. The computer system was down and unable to access my account number. Sales Professional Ms. Terri called several times to Customer Care and Card Authorization and was told the account was accessible and to continue with the charge. Nothing worked, she tried everything while staying sweet and professional. Ms. Terri had assisted me the previous week in the shoe department and I thought she was a "breath of fresh air" because of her never-ending optimistic and cheerful demeanor. Store manager Jody Hoffman recognized our dilemma and realized how long we had been attempting to make the purchase to arrive at the Science Fair on time. Store manager Jody Hoffman jumped in and made many calls to corporate, the IT guy was actually in the back of the store but wasn't able to assist us. The system had been down for 2 days. Finally, after hearing that my grandson Mason would be unable to present his presentation if he didn't have the outfit, Store manager Jody Hoffman whipped out her personal Peebles card, swiped my purchase through and told me to "be safe" as I was now late and she knew he had to get dressed into the new outfit prior to setting up his booth. During this time Sales Professionals Sheri and Dotty assisted with the long line on both sides of the checkout cube and apologized politely to each customer for their wait. I will be back in Wallace today at 5 pm to reimburse Ms. Jody Hoffman the $42.00 she personally paid for Mason's outfit yesterday Thank you to the sweet and beyond the "call of duty" graciousness from Store manager Jody Hoffman, Sales Professional Ms. Terri, along with the assistance of Sales Professionals Ms. Sheri and Ms. Dotty at the Wallace NC Peebles Store. I made it to the school a mile from the store late but with Mason's clothes! I am overjoyed and beyond grateful to announce that Mason Batchelor won 1st Prize and his science presentation goes on to compete in the district competition for NC state participation!!! I would appreciate and expect someone to personally recognize these incredible representatives of Peebles. I will repost this to Yelp and to Facebook in order that others can see how an act of kindness has the ability to impact the life of a young man and his family in a huge way!! Merry Christmas!

I was in the area visiting my brother and babysitting my nephew. The store was clean and well stocked with friendly staff. I was able to get several items. The line moved quickly. No complaints. *I will note that phone service isn't great in the area, especially indoors*

I am writing to formally complain about an extremely disappointing and, in my opinion,…read moreinappropriate interaction I experienced with an employee at the Marshalls location in Selma, North Carolina, on August 7, 2026. I was shopping in the store with both of my children when my 1-year-old son noticed one of the balloons that had been placed around the store for an employment event. The balloons were displayed near the shoe section. I picked one up and gave it to my son, not realizing that the balloons were intended to remain part of the display. I completely understand that the balloon belonged to the store and that employees may need to keep displays intact. I would have had absolutely no issue returning it. What I have a serious problem with is the way this employee chose to handle the situation. The employee approached us and told me that the balloon was part of the display and that she needed to take it back. Before I could even respond or take the balloon from my son myself, she took the balloon directly out of my 1-year-old child's hand. My son immediately became extremely upset, crying and screaming. He is ONE year old and obviously did not understand why someone had suddenly taken something from him. What made the situation even more upsetting was that the employee continued walking around the store with the balloon while my child was crying, rather than simply putting it back where it belonged and moving on. I want to be very clear: my complaint is not about being asked to return the balloon. I understand that it was part of a store display. My complaint is about the employee's lack of judgment, professionalism, and basic consideration in how she handled the situation. There was absolutely no reason she needed to physically take the balloon from a small child when she could have spoken to me and allowed me to remove it from my son's hand. I was shocked by the interaction and honestly found it unnecessarily harsh and disrespectful. I would have gladly returned the balloon myself. I even would have been willing to pay for it if that were an option. Instead, the employee chose to take it directly from a 1-year-old, causing him unnecessary distress over something that could have been handled in a much more appropriate manner. As a customer and a parent, I expect employees representing Marshalls to use reasonable judgment and treat customers and their children with courtesy and respect. I understand that employees have rules they must follow, but how those rules are enforced matters. Store property can be protected without unnecessarily upsetting or frightening a small child. I am requesting that this complaint be reviewed by management and that the employee involved be addressed regarding her conduct and the way this situation was handled. I would also appreciate confirmation that this complaint has been received and taken seriously. I have been a Marshalls customer, and I expect a much higher level of customer service from a company of this size. I hope Marshalls will take this opportunity to address the situation appropriately and ensure that employees understand the importance of handling situations involving young children with professionalism, patience, and common sense. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing from someone regarding this complaint.
