This is an open air outlet mall with a decent variety of shops. We were able to find decent amount of items that we had been searching for with a mixed group of individuals. Pricing was not significantly discounted but reasonable. Some of the other more high-end stores were Less stocked than I'm used to at other outlets. There were a variety of different types of shops, which we appreciated and clothing options at different price points, but I was disappointed with the selection of food options and so that limited the amount of time that we spent shopping. read more

The Carolina Premium Outlets are easy to access from the highway. There is a large parking lot although on a hot day, I recommend driving from section to section rather than walking. I thought there were a good variety of stores and it was easy enough to get around. read more

I finally visited the Smithfield Carolina outlet stores today. I'm really not an outlet shopper at all but I heard this location had a variety of stores and brands I enjoy. I did not get a chance to visit every store while on a time limit but I am happy with what I spent within my budget for the quality of items I purchased. I enjoyed shopping at the Adidas store. They had a 60% off clearance sale and I was able to purchase 2 outfits for my daughter priced at $7.99 & 10.99 per piece. The selection was excellent and I saw some adorable IVY Park sneakers and boots by Beyoncé. Customer service was excellent. I also visited the Lane Bryant store to purchase undergarments. The customer service was impeccable and the store was well stocked compared to Raleigh. I was very happy with the sale items I purchased and will definitely return to visit the remainder of the stores. This outlet mall could use a modern renovation so that is the only negative. read more

My boyfriend took me to this outlet because I wanted to go to the Coach store. I had never been there before. I'm from VA, so I'm used to going to outlets that look a little more modern and less like I'm in Mayberry. There didn't have many stores that I'd shop in, not o enjoyed the Coach store. There was plenty of parking. There are restaurants nearby if you're hungry. They didn't have anything at the Outlet to eat that I saw. I saw a snack and drink machine in the restroom area. I will probably go to the Outlet in Mebane before ever coming back here. I felt like I was whisked back into time coming here. Lol. read more

Doing some brick and mortar Christmas shopping, a wide variety of stores to shop at. A few places to dine at. I gave to say every store I stopped in I was greeted with smiling faces which I did not expect for as busy as the outlets were. The only complaint is security could have done something with traffic flow. Cars driving the wrong direction and just causing massive backups and traffic not moving at all. Tip if they are busy once you find a place to park I would suggest walking the entire outlet because you will spend the next hour looking for a place to park if you want to move, tip number two there is plenty of parking in the rear if you're willing to walk. read more

This place has changed a lot over the years. When we were here years ago, there were more kitchen and food/gift outlets but when we came by this year, it was mostly apparel and beauty. The parking lot is very crowded and it can take a while to get out and back onto the road. We did pop into a few clothing and shoe stores but didn't necessarily find anything we needed. Even though it's an outlet mall with supposedly discounted merchandise, a discount on a largely marked-up item isn't necessarily a bargain. I think frugal shoppers can find better bargains by shopping sales and consignment/thrift stores. read more

I love a good outlet and was excited to stop here to refresh my wardrobe with some good deals. I think I may have just come at a weird time in between seasons, because there wasn't a lot to choose from. Many of the stores had lots of empty shelves, so I didn't leave with much. This is a smaller outlet too, so there are fewer stores to browse than I normally expect at an outlet. J. Crew had standout service and I found some great deals at Kate Spade, but otherwise, my experience wasn't really anything to write home about. [Coronavirus review] Really just wasn't impressed. Not impressed with the selection of retailers or the deals I found, not impressed with the way cars and people were on top of each other in a crowded parking lot. Definitely not impressed with the infection control measures on display during corona; some outlets had capacity limits with long lines, but inside some shops the people working there didn't always have masks. Mixed messages. You've got to offer a heck of a shopping experience to compete with online retail, and while I managed to make something out of my trip up here, I wouldn't come back for the shops. read more

I was in the area to pick up my daughter who spent a few weeks with family. We decided to visit the outlets and I'm glad we did. I love Eddie Bauer for outdoor clothing, coats and leggings. My husband who had a job that requires him to work outdoors likes their hiking pants and shirts. Unfortunately, the Eddie Bauer by us closed, so we haven't been able to stock up. Since I knew we'd be near the outlets, I did a search and found that the Eddie Bauer outlet is still open...the icing on the cake is that everything was on sale and the clearance was 70% off. Score! In addition to the Eddie Bauer Outlet, we ended up walking almost two whole sections. They have everything! The place is madness on the weekend and parking is tough, so either come early or during the week if your schedule allows. It was so busy when we were there that people were parking-lot stalking, which is not fun. read more

This outlet is one of my favorite stops when I am traveling on I-95. It has just fewer than 100 stores and there is almost something for everyone on both end of the cost spectrum. The place is conveniently right off of I-95 on exit 95. One of my favorite stores is the Carolina Pottery which has tons of stuff for every room of the house. Some may think it's all junk! The Pepperidge Farm outlet store is a must for some great snacks for the road. There isn't much of a food selection here so go over to route 301 half a mile west for a better select of food, gas and a Walmart. The local routes can get very crowded and left turns are a pain in the neck because of the lack of traffic lights. The parking lot is large and opened with very little shading so napping in the car is a little uncomfortable. read more

Large selection of stores in two different sections. One area looks a bit run down where most of the stores are and the other section looks very nice, classy almost. There are deals to be had, but you have to look for them. Parking is a real bear, especially on weekends and crazy at Christimas time and after x-mas. The best time to shop there if you can is during the week when people are at work. Only two places where there are bathrooms and on a recent one only one was available to be used. The other was under renovations. Not much for food options except a DQ that is amongst the stores near Nike. The other option is Cracker Barrel, which is always jammed. The best best is to drive past the mall towards town, a fantastic Mexican restaurant is there and several other chains. read more

Deals-galore so many awesome places to shop! The parking lot is huge but was also super packed this past weekend. Yes, I am also guilty of the last-minute-gift-shopper. Every time I come here I spend a lot of money but get so much clothes. Downside was my friends and I coming a little too late, so a lot of the deals and stuff were already grabbed. Despite that I still found some pretty good deals. It's a great place to go Christmas shopping and is such a long strip. It takes a while to get through the stores though because they aren't all bunched together and 10 ft away from each other like Tanger Outlets in Mebane, NC. Instead you can follow along the strip that passes every store It's a great place to go shopping for the ladies but not as many choices for the guys. Definitely make this a stop if you are looking for gifts or revamping your wardrobe. read more

This group of stores is more like a tourist trap that needs a major facelift. A few of the stores are appealing but the outlay, parking and overall feel of the place screams 1970's. Is it convenient or easy to get to? Yes. Is it inexpensive as one would expect from an outlet center? Not really. The place is a bit of a zoo when it comes to trying to find parking. In comparison to Hagerstown, Leesburg and even the Waterloo outlets, this is a disappointment. I would not recommend going out of your way to visit this outlet mall. This is not the best Outlet Mall I have ever been to, that honor would go to the one in St Augustine FLorida. This Smithfield location is all I am going to get for a 45 minute drive and I feel cheated. The one store that keeps me coming back is Carolina Pottery because they carry a mesh material that I need to make wreaths with, so until I find the selection elsewhere this is where I go. The stores are not true outlets and the sales are questionable when I can say that I saw the same thing online for $10 cheaper and with free shipping. Stores do have sales a couple of times a year and at this time this place makes sense. The rudest store award goes to RUE 21 the clerks are really bad in there. I frequently get the security tags left on items so double check behind them, it doesnt go off out their door but when you enter another store. Then when you go back they act like it was your fault and make you stand in line to get them removed. WARNING- If you have any self esteem issues do not go to Chico's they are friendly and nice and very attentive to the ladies in there that look like they have $$$. At first I thought it was a weight thing, but I wear a 12 in Juniors (1.5 to a 2 Chico's in ladies) and a LG shirt in Juniors (med in Chico's ladies), and went in there with my daughter who wears a size 00 and XS in Chico's still really snippy , so that's not it..... So what can it be? A Mexican thing? I hope not because I like the clothes. My advice OVERDRESS and see if they are nice to you. Some of the stores offer a Military Discount but you have to ask for it. Be sure to go to the office by Dairy Queen and get the coupon booklet. Check the weather report the day you plan on going out there because we got caught in a storm and it was AWFUL. I grew up going to these outlets to buy "school clothes", and I still stop in when I'm driving down 95. The outlet mall is right off the interstate, so it's easy to drop in and then jump right back on the road. The outlet mall is old and dated, and the store selection is not the best. The stores here have discounted prices, but most are untidy, overpacked, and difficult to navigate. When I stopped in yesterday, a Thursday around 5, the parking lot was empty and there were hardly any shoppers. However, I was disappointed to see that the stores were still wrecked. I would expect this on a busy Saturday, but not a dead Thursday. I was one of 2 customers in Banana Republic, and the store was a disaster. I needed help finding an item, and I finally found an employee and wouldn't you know she was in the rear of the store chatting with the 2 other employees. I went into Nike, Ann Taylor, Gap, etc. and encountered similar situations. I would not make a special trip here, but if I'm passing through I may continue to stop in. read more

We took the 45min drive to outlet shop. We've been to the Premium Outlet in Charlotte (5 stars) and was expecting a similar experience. Uh no. This place has most of the same stores but the complex is very run down and way too spread out. Plan your bathroom trips wisely as they are few and far between. Very limited food options and no food court. There are a few chain restaurants on the perimeter of the outlet. Tip: drive up the road for Chipotle and Starbucks. Comparing to the Charlotte Premium Outlet, the Nike, Banana Republic and Gap stores (my fav outlet stops) were smaller. A lot of the stores/brands seemed out of date and had no customers. We did get some bargains but we prefer the Charlotte location so we probably won't be back. read more

These outlets have looked the same and contained very similar stores since I was little- which means by now it needs a very big update. Carolina Premium Outlets mostly includes clothing retailers and not much else in the way of shopping, and what clothing it offers is pretty dated as well. Despite the two hour drive I didn't find one thing to buy that was any cheaper than going to the mall next door to my house. They definately need to step up their game if they want to compete with the many other outlets in the area, most notably Tanger. read more

This was a very poorly planned outlet mall. Think strip mall plaza except 10x larger. Basically walk from one end of the outlet to the other and you've essentially completely your tour of this retail area. The parking lot is horrible. Drive slow and walk carefully. It's easy to almost hit a pedestrian and there are limited signs for crosswalks or to indicate pedestrian crossing. I know drivers should be mindful when driving, especially when navigating parking lots but it's good to reinforce that mentality, especially since children jut into traffic regularly here. There are the typical large retail stores like American Eagle, Coach, GAP, Aeropostale, sports apparel like Nike, a Carolina Pottery, and etc. There's nothing to really out of the ordinary or remarkable here. read more

Just make sure you bring your walking shoes! when ever i breeze through Smithfield i make sure that i stop by The Carolina Premium Outlets. i come here to shop, eat, or just walk around and people watch. there are various stores to suite any picky shopper, from cologne/perfume, baby clothes, jewelry, high end fashion to furniture,and watches. Polo and Polo Kids, Rue 21, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and Timberland are a few of the stores i may frequent but there are tons other options. there are 2 separate buildings that make this a great walk for those who like to exercise and window shop at the same time. FYI: there is a Cracker Barrel on the primices if you get a craving for something yummy or need a break from all that shopping and walking. read more

Carolina Premium Outlets are the best option for outlet shopping in or around the Triangle. It's about a 30 minute drive from Raleigh, but it's definitely worth it. Morrisville's Prime Outlets don't hold a candle to this place, and Burlington's outlets aren't much better...besides, they're about the same distance away as CPO. Premium Outlets has outlets for Polo, Nautica, Lucky Jeans, Gap, Skechers, Nike, Adidas, Coach, Banana Republic, and dozens more. The layout is very expansive and all the storefronts are outdoors, so be prepared to get a good workout walking from store to store if you want to shop the whole center. It can get a little crowded on the weekends, but the parking lot is enormous. You may not get a spot right up front, but you'll always be able to find one that's at least close to the center. The area is fairly nice, with hotels and restaurants surrounding the center - it's very easy to make a day of your shopping trip if you wanted. read more

Unfortunately I came to the Carolina Premium Outlets the weekend before Christmas on my way up to Massachusetts for the holiday. Yes, there are a lot of stores but the main part is set up like a very long strip mall with a disheveled parking lot and the inability for the shopper to stroll leisurely too all the stores. It seems that this outlet is poorly planned and needs a complete overhaul. The good thing is that I was able to find great savings especially at Children's Place and Coach but the bad thing is that these outlets off of I-95 in North Carolina cannot hold a candle to their sister outlets in, for example, Kittery, ME or Orlando, FL. Time for an update and redesign! Add some different stores and a good coffee shop and the experience here would be much better. read more
