Our carpet saga isn't short. However the short version is, if we had it to do again, we would have gone to Family Carpet Center first rather than last. We received unequivocal customer service from beginning to end and including outstanding workmanship. The long version is, we purchased a 3500 SF log home about an hour from Redding which had not been lived in for 2 years; the result found us needing to "take back the home" from the critters before beginning remodeling. As part of the remodeling process we wanted to replace all the carpet and tile before winter so time was of the essence. We spent a week reviewing and visiting different carpet stores throughout Redding and Sacramento (except we did not know of Family Carpet Center at this time). We finally settled on Home Depot. Paid for them to come out and measure, selected carpet and ordered it. However, Home Depot failed to show or complete 4 times after their promised appointments to do. After 5 weeks without success and hours on the phone with Home Depot staff and management, we found out the carpet employee never actually ordered the carpet the month before as had been promised. We felt all those we dealt did not really care about the final product, they were more interested in being at a job rather than doing it. There was no reason for them to care about our satisfaction since their pay check did not. In exhaustion and frustration we made another round visiting carpet stores in Redding. This time after re-visiting 3 other stores, we came across the Family Carpet Center. We were immediately greeted in a friendly way and spent an unpressured hour with one of the owners, Cindi. She didn't mind that we had out golden retriever with us and really seemed to go the extra mile to show us a spectrum of both carpet and tile designs and discuss the cost scenarios. She offered unpressured options. We a chance to learn about the products. We were given a few samples to take home and she promised to call the following day with answers to a few products we discussed. And she called the next day just as promised. A few days later both owners (Chuck and Cindi) drove out to our house and completed the measuring, discussed the tile options, scheduling and provided cost quotes. Ours was a big job with complicated tile designs. A few weeks later the job was complete with excellent workmanship. Chuck and his crew arrived on time every day and demonstrated dedicated expertise in laying the tile as well as the carpet. They were polite, considerate and worked as though they really cared about the final product. We appreciated the communication during the project as well as the end result. The cost was on target as quoted. Having taught customer service for over 35 years, I have always believed that good customer service is giving people more than what they expect. The reality is that the Family Carpet Center kept every commitment made to us, from cost through communication, scheduling and workmanship. In my meager opinion, Family Carpet Store could be the ruler for measuring the customer service of other businesses. I have no reservations with rating them the highest rating on this site. I want to take a moment to give a great big "Thank You" to Cindi and Chuck Rude of Family Carpet Center. We were in need of new carpeting for two bedrooms in our home and like most people we wanted it fast and installed yesterday! However finding just the right carpeting was proving to be harder than I thought. I shopped all over Redding and even on line. I needed some expert advice as to the type and quality carpeting and padding we needed for our lifestyle. A friend suggested I stop by Family Carpet Center and talk to Cindi. I'm so glad I did! Cindi spent at least an hour going over the pro's and con's of particular carpeting and padding. I finally decided on the type of carpeting I wanted, but color was a challenge as one of my rooms has wallpaper. Not a problem. Cindi loaded me up with large color samples so that I could take them home and actually lay them out next to my walls, cabinets and of course the hard to match wallpaper!!! Once I made my color choice I was down to the wire. My company was coming into town and I wanted the carpeting installed before they arrived. Cindi got the carpeting ordered and it was delivered within a short period of time and Chuck and his installation person laid the carpeting in one day. . Needed new carpet for my home. Went to another (recommended) local carpet business and knew within 10 min of speaking with a sales person knew this business would not work for me. Family Carpet Centerwas the 2nd business on my list to visit. Cindy was friendly and knowledgeable about her products. She asked what I was looking for and showed options that would work for me. At NO TIME DID I FEEL PRESSURED to pick a certain product. Took some samples home and called her few times with some questions and I did not feel like I was bothering her. I appreciated the fact that she gave me estimates for several products and prices and I so after deciding what carpet and pad i wanted I knew exactly what I was paying for. Upon deciding on the carpet and pad, we set a date. Chuck and his helper arrived on time and did a fantastic job! Clean up was done and my home looked fantastic. The carpet along with the memory foam pad feels like you are working on a cloud. When ready for new tile I will certainly use them again. Very nice, family run business. Cindi at Family Carpet Center has been great to work with! We live out of state and have a Condo in Redding that we needed to replace the carpeting in. Spoke to her once over the phone and then she jumped into action!! She mailed me samples and answered all my questions, and I had plenty of them! Highly recommend Family Carpet Center. The owners have worked in the flooring industry for many years, and they really know their business. We carpeted our living room, dining room and three bedrooms and changed the bathroom flooring to a new vinyl. The installers were on time, very clean, professional, and stayed exactly within the timeline that they had suggested. I felt safe with them in my home, which is so important to me. We are beyond happy with our experience with Family Carpet Center. The product is superior. We changed all the flooring in our guest house with luxury vinyl planks (and one bedroom with carpet). Their service is the best I have had...personal, friendly, responsive, honest and fair. It felt like working with family (in a good way!) We contacted Cindi at Family Flooring in person. We all discussed our flooring needs and eventually picked out our new engineered wood floor. Chuck and Keith showed up punctually at our house each day they were scheduled to work. Everything was cleaned up before they left for the evening. The job was explained as it progressed which also resulted in extra plywood being needed. The floor is now finished and looks absolutely fantastic. Chuck is a true expert in his profession. He installed some carpet on my stairs with carpet on the sides too. The corners had to be sown. I can't see the seems at all. He also has replaced a section of carpet that was stained with a section from my closet. Again, no sign of the seems. I purchased some laminate flooring from chuck and he showed me how to assemble it and I called him during installation for some helpful tips on installation. Thanks Chuck read more
