Made an appointment at Acme location to have a broken tooth removed. Waited almost 3 weeks while in pain.Got there 5 minutes early and they said since I didn't answer their conformation call they scheduled someone else for that time. Said my landline phone was disconnected which it isn't. I had to make arrangements around my children and find a driver.Its an hour drive just to get there.I will never recommend this place to others nor will I or any of my family members ever go there. read more

I've established care here 2 years ago. I have had a good experience until I needed seen outside of a scheduled appointment. I had a filling fall out and called for appointment. The earliest I could be seen was in 2 weeks. That is not acceptable patient care. Been seeing them for 2 years now at the Acme office and have been very pleased. Dr Ty couldn't be a nicer human being and the staff is always pleasant and polite. They take the time to chat with you a bit and don't rush you through the visit. Options for treatment concerning things like crowns or bridges are always discussed and cost is given before you commit to anything. I really like that one since there's no kick in the teeth when you go to pay. I would highly recommend them. read more

I have not actually been to the office before. This review is just my experience over the phone and my personal feelings. I already know the business owner is going to comment some sweet comment about fixing the issues I say, just like on everyone else's comments but NOTHING will change how I feel. I was told 2 months ago to go to family tree dental for my issues! I have dental insurance through met life, and also Molina because they gave it to me for a year after I had my son. I called (2 months ago) and gave them all my personal information, while he clerk (on the phone) told me that they happily take both insurances! I was so excited because I can get my cleaning, and my chipped tooth fixed. No. She proceeding to tell me " I'm sorry Torie, we don't have any appointments available for Molina today or the rest of this week BUT you can call everyday in case someone cancels!" I was very confused but was still excited so I just said okay thank you. Every day for A WHOLE ENTIRE MONTH I called & called & called. No return call, nothing. They honestly probably have 20 voicemails from me. Today I went to my orthodontist to get a check up on my teeth anyway so I mentioned this situation he explained to me that EVERYONE is very unhappy with Family Tree Dental Industry. So, I will no longer try. I have never felt more worthless. Yes, you all made me feel worthless because I have an additional medical coverage that is MOLINA. Dr. Jerek Atwood, at Family Tree Dental on Colegate Road in Marietta, Ohio, is the most knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate dentist that I have ever seen. I am 83 years old, and I have seen a lot of good dentists in my lifetime, Dr. Atwood worked overtime on my teeth last week. His helper was a lovely little lady, and she is also very knowledgeable. She did just what Dr. Atwood asked her to do. I am having a very difficult situation with my teeth, but Dr. Atwood is very intelligent, kind, and caring. I know all is going to work out in the very best way possible. Dr. Atwood is very kind and caring. His family can be very proud of him. To the folks working with Dr. Atwood, I will say YOU are very blessed. This statement comes from someone who is conservative and at one time worked in an office that had a lot to do with politics, and the public. Never have I seen, worked with, or known a gentleman who served as well as Dr. Atwood when serving others. I just wanted folks to know that there are still folks"out there" that they can respect when it comes to business and health care. Enough said. Does anybody know a phone number to get ahold of HR for family tree dental. They butchered my boyfriend's tooth and when he went back up to get it looked at they refused to even do an xray and look at it and told him they are sorry they hit a piece of bone when they pulled out his tooth knowing he's in pain and something is wrong they still did nothing. He left a review on their website about how they burthched his tooth (even cut a pice of gum on another tooth that wasn't needed) once they found out Dr. Trish if I'd even call her a doctor called him to discuss how unhappy shi is with the review and how all he did was go in there and try to get harder drugs. He repeatedly told them he dosnt want pills he wants it looked at or x-rayed and she refused. So the crazy boyfriend I am I went up and confronted her (I got a video) she pulled me into a room which is where we discussed the issue (of course walking back the front desk ladies thought it was a show and funny) very unpleasant and unprofessional if you ask me. While talking I told her the issue which she didn't seem to care cause she went on about how good the doctor is and that he's the nicest person I'll ever meet I told her that's a bit egotistical and she said it's not refusing to talk about the issue at hand I informed her it was unprofessional to call about a review then accuse him of asking for harder drugs when all he wanted to get it xrayed. She goes on to say that his review was unprofessional and not true and asked if I've see other reviews, I told her yes and he's not the only one that left a negative review. She told me she called him a few times after the appointment to see if he was okay and I informed her I'm aware of that (he called at one point and no one answered so he left a voice mail literally crying and no one got ahold of him he had to call back the next day) (which is what the review was mainly about) I informed her you stoped calling for a few days only to call him today while at work about the review and accused him of asking for drugs. At this point she stated getting upset and was reminding me that Riley called multiple times and I told them he was trying to get y'all to look at it but refused I then asked her if she is basing this off professionalism or her feelings and she got quiet for a second then went on about once agin how good the doctor is. I then left mad forgetting to ask for a HR number or higher up so I went back up to get it. They say me in a room and walked away, I then left cause it was taking a while assuming they were just calling the cops. When I left I called back up to get the never and they refused to grive it to me and told me i had to come up to get it that they can't get give the number over the phone. This place is so unprofessional and all the front deck ladies are snotty brats. I am not one to do reviews, however, this one was needed. I have worked in the administrative dental field for years. I had heard good things about Family Tree Dental so I figured my husband and I would try them. 1st visit was exam and "if" there was a hygienest available & you passed their exam then a cleaning would be done. My husband has had 2 cleanings there, I have had none. They told me I needed Scaling & Root Planing....working in a periodontal office (administrative) I know the criteria it takes to meet. I may have had a couple numbers to qualify to do 1-3 teeth scrp in an area (not for high numbers, but I had 2 little pieces of tarter stuck), but not all 4 full quadrants. I had a treatment plan done, called about 3 weeks ago, told them what tooth it was (#20) & that it was already looked at and added to the plan & that I wanted nitrous. I drive an hour there today to walk in and they have me for an exam and xray. I said, I told the person I scheduled with that it was a treatment planned tooth & I wanted nitrous...then she proceeds to tell me they have no oxygen! Was not happy and told them to take myself and husband off the schedule for any future appointments. My mother also went there, same run around with her. She did have a temporary crown put on, it came off within 48 hours. She called them and they said to come down. She did and they handed her a little pack of cement & she was to put it back on herself! Any dentist I know or friend that has had a temp crown or crown done, the DENTIST puts it back on for u...not expect you to do it. That's why they get paid over $1000.00 for a crown. RANT OVER! I missed ONE appointment in January and it is now May and they won't see me because I didn't have a note from when my son was very sick.. my dentures need re aligned BADLY. I keep getting horrible infections in my mouth because my dentures are to big and rub the top of my mouth raw causing thrush and yeast. This sucks. read more

Service was on par, I will say that much. However, knowledge of the staff is extremely lacking and there is some intentional deception going on. I have been a prior patient and called with new insurance. I asked if my insurance was accepted and in network before scheduling my cleaning. I was told it was, and then I made my appointment. When I got there, my insurance was taken again, and there was not mention of not being in network. After the service, I was told that I would have to pay for my services. I said my insurance pays for two cleanings a year, and they replied they made a mistake and are not in network! I know I know, it is ultimately up to me to make sure, but I did not appreciate the intentional deceit just to get my business! Advanced equipment, digital imaging in treatment rooms, efficient review of cost and procedure options and friendly staff all this with no pain and no complications on my root canal. INTRO: My experience with Family Tree Dental couldn't have been worse. When I arrived for my initial appointment, I was handed new patient paperwork. I filled it out and indicated that my insurance provider was Paramount Advantage. They handed me a new folder with paperwork specifically for Medicaid patients. Most of the forms were the same save for the initial form which was ASTONISHINGLY DIFFERENT than that of the private insurance folder. In the form, the language was not only hostile, but indeed implicative, and served only to further marginalize and oppress folks already in a tough situation. This form reminded us lowly Medicaid folk that certain kinds of pain medications were not available to us (since we're all addicts?) and that our belligerence (since we're all combative?) wouldn't be tolerated. It also indicated that missed appointments would result in a year ban from appointment scheduling and that patients could then only be seen on a walk-in basis. The language regarding appointments and rescheduling may well in fact be an office policy, but the tenor and word choice of the form is disturbing. Despite the fact that these guys had worked with marginalized and oppressed communities as graduate students through student dental clinics, sadly, they seem to have all but forgotten any consideration of other they may have learned through that experience. Instead, they've adopted that same smug, bourgeois, condescending attitude of the contemporary rich that looks down on the poor and oppressed with that accusing stare: "Pick yourself up by your bootstraps," they say. How sad a commentary on the state of things and the continually widening gap between those that have and those that have not. I kept the appointment with FTD for one reason: they are the ONLY medicaid dental provider unless you go to Columbus. Isn't that great? Ohio administers their program through PRIVATE insurance companies and as a result their billable amounts are on par with and at times better than Delta and MetLife. Additionally, the program is funded by federal block grants and taxpayer money--OUR money that we've paid into the system, almost twenty years in my case. And because they're a federal clinic, they receive an additional subsidy...a kind of corporate welfare. And still, we're condescended to? The work was unbelievably bad and PAINFUL. Usually, dental work is isolated to a single quadrant when substantial work has to be done. They opted instead to do everything at once. Over 8 different procedures, one of which was an extraction. It took over 3.5 hours! The dental hygienist was left to do all the fillings herself and she insisted on yelling a conversation to the assistant/hygienist in the other room while intermittently singing country music--BADLY--instead of focusing on the work. Within a month, two fillings had fallen out. I wasn't going back. I couldn't. I couldn't handle the PAIN I experienced in the chair, and the subsequent pain I experienced at home. It was UNBEARABLE. It was one of those pains that hurts in such a way that you feel as if putting your head through something would make it feel better. In times past, I have never had that kind of pain following an extraction. Before--most definitely. But never following. Clearly,I was still INFECTED and the salt water rinse that has typically worked in the past coupled with 800mg Ibuprofen WAS NOT WORKING. I called the doctor and he said he'd call in something stronger than I had been taking. He called in 600 MOTRIN. I had forgotten, I was now a Medicaid patient, and officially a drug-seeker. I would advise AGAINST anyone coming here unless they have to for emergency purposes. I am fortunate that I am in a place now where I can make it to Columbus or Athens if I need to. If you can at all avoid FTD, STAY AWAY from these cock-sure yuppies that think they know everything, and can never imagine themselves being on the receiving end of public assistance. I think it's a damn shame there isn't a hell for them to go to. read more

I am puzzled by some of the reviews I have read here about this practice. I have been going there for a few years now and have to say that I am very satisfied with the treatment I have received there. I was never pressured to have procedures of treatments that weren't necessary and the staff there is great! I have never had to wait more than a few minutes for my treatment and was treated like I was family. My husband had a broken tooth several months ago and he was worked in the very same day for treatment. I have only had good experiences at Family Tree Dental and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Very happy with my experiences. I moved to the area in 2014 and called around to find a dentist who was accepting new patients. They were the first who also offered hand scaling. Hand scaling is a must for my dentist office, I have had my teeth cleaned religiously every 6 months since I was a child whether I had insurance or not and my teeth don't accumulate that much calculus. I think ultrasonic scaling is hard on teeth and overkill for those with good oral hygiene, not to mention it makes lazy hygienists who try to speed through a cleaning. The office is able to fit you in quickly and accepts most insurance, with my insurance they accepted what the insurance paid them and didn't dump the balance on me like McCarthy did to my husband, even Frye charges my husband an extra 3$ for an exam then X-rays where it's covered 100% at Family Tree. When I had the second cavity of my life, the first was as a teenager; they fit me in really quick for a filling. The never block was spot on but I had nerve pain at the injection site for a week after. The dentist informed me that my 15yr old filling looked like it would need replaced soon but if it wasn't bothering me we could wait. At the time it wasn't bothering me, but I was really pleased that he didn't pressure me and make me feel like he just wanted to make a few bucks. It's been four months since then and I am now having intermittent issues, so it's good to know he was being honest but in hind sight I wish I had them done at the same time because I dread the nerve block.... I feel like I can trust the office to not try and unnecessarily up sell me. When I lived in Columbus one of the dentists I saw tried to sell me braces, which I had when I was 12 and my teeth are perfectly straight and I have never had another dentist saying anything otherwise. read more

I guess if you don't have dental insurance then you won't be able to afford dental care. But If you have great dental insurance than by all means this is the place for you, nice office and friendly staff. I wish part time employees could have benefits too, I'm a sales associate and can not afford the cost of a root canal so I'm going the cheaper route and having my tooth extracted, hate to have it done but there's just no other way when you are having tooth pain. This is the worst dental office in the Mid-Ohio Valley. After getting 2 fillings, one of the teeth had to be removed within 6 months because of the abcesses that kept occurring under it. The second one fell out a little after a year and they refused to give me a fair price to replace it. Thinking it was one bad experience and I tried again. I was to have 4 fillings, after drilling a hole in my canine, they told me I needed a root canal or removal. I could not afford a root canal and cap at that moment, so I had to opt for removal I had to work and be a part a society with a front tooth missing for weeks until I could go somewhere else for a partial. The other fillings are of awful quality, gritty, something sticking from the back one and I must get them all repaired. I had nerve damage on top of it and dealt with a droopy lip, it is now getting better after 2 months. Do not do this to yourself or child. Find anyplace else that may take your insurance or an affordable dentist. They treat you like you are on an assembly line and rush through the work. STAY AWAY from the Acme Street location!!! My mom went here yesterday (7/22/2019) to have two fillings done and she left with a mess! She is so upset over how her teeth look now, and I feel bad for her. First of all, Dr. Rehl, whom she asked for, didn't even DO the filling. Instead, someone else by the name of Conner (sp?) came in and did it. When he was done, he didn't even offer her a mirror to look at the hack job he did; he was just going to send her out. When my mom asked for a mirror, he said something like he would try to find one. Try to find one? At a dentist office??? What dentist office has to "try to find" a mirror? Mind you, the fillings (if you can call them that) were done on her front teeth. When he finally found a mirror, she was horrified. The one tooth that he had "filled" was extremely short and not like her original tooth at all. Also, she had told them that her teeth were straight across, not really rounded on the edges, but did they listen? No. Second, once she finally got out of this place called a dentist office, she looked in her rear-view mirror and noticed that she still had blood all over the inside of her mouth. My husband and I had called to establish a new dentist as we haven't been seen in a few years. They advised me they accepted Molina insurance so I scheduled appointments for both of us. My first appointment all they did was take xrays and look at my teeth. They then advised me that I had periodontal disease and needed an extensive cleaning which would cost $250. I am currently unable to work because I have to take care of my father that is in poor health and I receive Medicaid for that reason. I told them I could not afford that at this time and would just like to get the cleaning that is covered by my insurance. I was told that was not an option and it was bad practice to not do the deep cleaning. Keep in mind I have no problems with my teeth, they are all in good shape and I have never even had a tooth ache. I also brush and floss daily. My husband went to his initial appointment and got xrays and they looked at his teeth and they told him the EXACT same thing. He has never had any problems with his teeth either. So my question is WHY tell people you except Molina insurance and then turn around and try to charge them $250 to clean their teeth! I started digging a little deeper and asking a few people I know had went there and found out they were told the EXACT same thing. VERY very deceptive business and would not recommend to anyone. They are out to get every dollar they can out of everybody who walks thru the door. read more
