One of my rescues has a growth that could be malignant; I needed a vet in the area and was referred to Paul Klainbard by the shelter. He is kind, caring and knowledgeable. He was exceedingly helpful and his staff is patient, courteous and compassionate. I don't know what happened to the dude in 2022 and I'm very sorry his dog passed away but there must be something more to the story as I cannot imagine these people ignoring a pet in need. We just started going here and my mom loves Dr. Arrucci! My two dogs love him and the rest of the staff that they have seen such as the Techs etc. The receptionists are helpful and friendly and although I have never been there I am so happy to have found a vet for my dogs and cats that are literally 5 minutes from our house! It's about time I get to reviewing this place. I don't even know where to start with all the great things I have to say. I have a 1 year old rescue dog who I've had for 4 months and is a new patient here as of 2 weeks ago (dumping our previous AWFUL vet) - I called in a panic because I found a tick crawling on her at 3:30pm, they took me in at 4pm to see the vet tech. They pulled the tick right off, thankfully it was only crawling and not latched on yet. Dr Klainbard did not even charge me for that visit. I purchased a Seresto collar, made an appt for 2 weeks later to get blood tests for Lyme and off we went. A week later my pup was itching her ears BADLY. I called that day and again, they took me in IMMEDIATELY. This time we saw Dr. K, who checked Katie over so gently and thoroughly, she didn't flinch or move as the vet tech (he was so gentle too) just held and comforted her. He gave her ear drops for a deep ear infection in BOTH ears, which I was told by our previous vet in February she didn't have any ear issues although she'd be scratching them like crazy, as well as allergy pills for spring allergies. The Dr explained everything so well and told me to come back in a week to see how her ears were doing, again, at no charge. This morning, Katie threw up, A LOT, very unlike her. Of course I called the office immediately and Dr K got right on the phone and spoke to me, making me feel better and that based on my description of the situation, he was not worried at all. Thankfully we will be seeing him on Tuesday for the Lyme blood tests. The point of all this is that all of these visits and calls within less than 2 weeks of having first gone there, and no one in the office seemed annoyed or irritated with me. The office staff couldn't be any more pleasant, accommodating or helpful. I really feel Dr K and his staff are truly dedicated to animals and that is the most important thing I could ask for when having to trust someone to take care of Katie, who is a part of my family. read more

I adopted a dog with challenging behavioral issues and made the tough decision to switch vet practices (I absolutely loved my former vet and the entire practice) to Family Veterinary Care. I was told by the shelter that Dr. Klainbard and his team are the absolute best with the toughest dogs and they were absolutely correct. Doesn't hurt that Family Vet is within walking distance and the prices are low for the area. I've been most impressed with Stephanie, one of the vet techs, who has taken the time to get to know my dog both during and outside of regular appointments. When we come, they make sure Stephanie is available, which reduces stress on my dog and ensures a safer visit for everyone. I'm in healthcare and have been very involved with Tri-State Vizsla rescue. I've worked with many Vets and can confidently say that Dr Paul K is the best... hands down. He's caring, compassionate and has great follow-up. He explains things, he gives you options on treatments and keeps you involved in the decision making along the way. He's fairly priced so you don't feel you're being taken advantage of like you do with other Vets. I've had to put dogs down and he could not have been more humane. I've had dogs with medical problems and he was spot on with his diagnosis and treatments! He also has a great network of specialist who respect him as much as I do. Dr. Paul Klainbard and his associates are some of the most compassionate and down to earth veterinarians and vet techs you'll find, period. You get top quality care at extremely fair prices (a little on the low price side, honestly) from vets with senses of humor and kindness rivaled only in magnitude by their medical expertise. When I was younger, I even did an internship here, so I even know the behind the scenes- he really does care about your pet 24/7, it's not just for show, and he goes above and beyond in ways that the pet owners don't get to see- that's in addition to the ways you can already see clear as day! He'll always be honest with you as well. I unfortunately had a dog develop intestinal cancer some years back, and he told me directly and honestly that chemotherapy wasn't worthwhile- it was always more for the owner than the pet. On the flip side, he's on top of new vaccines for emerging illnesses before a majority of vets in the area catch on, like that thing that was just barely starting to be seen in dogs a while ago. His patients were some of the first in the area to get that shot. They don't do exotics, but you won't find a better primary vet for your dog or cat, no matter how long you search. read more

We have had cats in our household for many years, and like many pet owners, we treat them like family members. We currently have four kiitties ranging in age from 3 to 11 and we have been clients of Dr. Klainbard since he started his career at another practice in Ossining. We find him to be honest and professional as well as willing to listen to our concerns about our cats. Our two 11 year olds have a number of medical conditions including rhinitis, arthritis, IBD and thyroid disease and Dr. Klainbard has done a great job of managing their care and medications. He is not reticent about seeking consultations with specialists and where necessary, he has made referrals. We went on a European cruise last summer and made arrangements for a pet sitter to stop by our house and take care of the cats, including administering their medications. Several days into the cruise, our pet sitter developed medical issues and was unable to care for the cats or to provide a replacement sitter. We seriously considered returning home, but were able to contact Dr. Klainbard, who fortunately had just opened his new practice. He stepped in and had his staff stop by our house to take care of the cats for the remainder of our vacation. We would readily recommend Dr. Klainbard to anyone looking for veterinary services. read more

Dr. Klainbard is a fantastic person and Vet!!! He is not only gentle and kind to animals, he cares for the owners feelings. We had to put one of our dogs to sleep. He let us grieve for as long as we needed with her and was so compassionate. We have 3 other dogs of varying ages and 2 cats. Every animal loves him. We have been to other vets that made us feel uncomfortable because we have so many. Each and every one is cared for and loved and he makes us feel proud of having them. We found out about this place because my wife is a volunteer at the Paws Crossed Animal Shelter in Elmsford and started taking some of the rescue dogs here. I don't often do reviews for Yelp, but just had to for this one, and I see I'm not the first to be impressed. So I can totally confirm the many positive comments left by other reviewers. And I'll add this: Dr. Klainbard is really good at explaining things, sharing his clinical thinking, and offering alternatives. And his prices are really reasonable. Other practices I've experienced tend to look at you as an income stream and are more likely to push expensive services that may not be necessary. Dr. Klainbard's approach is more like how can he help this animal and do so in the most conservative and price-conscious manner. We are very fortunate to have found him. read more

Care for expedited care after my first choice was booked until June. I am so glad I brought him here. Dr. Klainbard and his staff went above and beyond for Melo and treated us with such friendliness and care from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. Dr. Klainbard treats and exams your dog for what he believes he has/requires, I didn't have to ask him to advise me of everything he is doing to Melo like you would with some veterinarians. He did what he believed was required which I myself saw was needed too and even followed up days later with a phone call! Melo seemed to love him and the staff as well which is a huge plus! I couldn't stop raving about this experience with my friends and family. We will definitely be trusting Dr. Klainbard and his staff with Melo's care from now on. read more
