I celebrated my birthday at Famous PEOPLE Players Theatre with my mom and teenage son, and honestly, it was one of the most memorable nights we've had in a long time as a family. I had seen the show many years ago as a teen on a school trip, before they had their own venue. Like a good wine--or anything special that ages with care and purpose--it has only gotten better with time. The cross-city rush hour drive was absolutely worth it once we arrived. The venue, located in a strip mall/industrial park, had plenty of free parking. We stepped into a one-story, open, airy, and accessible building that immediately felt welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warmth, professionalism, and a genuine sense of joy that set the tone for the evening. We were escorted to our table in a dining area that felt both spacious and intimate. Everything was clean, well-organized, and thoughtfully arranged. The tables were dressed with cloth napkins, tablecloths, and seat covers, giving it a relaxed yet elegant feel. I especially loved the photos of celebrities who've been involved with the company, tastefully displayed around the room. The service throughout the night was excellent. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, attentive, and clearly passionate about what they do. They struck the perfect balance, friendly and warm without being overbearing. We truly felt like more than just guests. We felt part of something meaningful. The evening unfolded in three acts. Act 1: Dinner. The meal far exceeded our expectations. Each course--from the appetizer to the main--was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully plated. I'm not usually a fan of salad, but I really enjoyed the one served. Even my son, who's not easily impressed when it comes to food, not only cleaned his plate, he raved about the meal. Act 2: The Show. Before the performance, the cast encouraged us to sing and dance in our seats, and we did not hold back. Twist and Shout was a high-energy, creative, feel-good experience. The puppetry, lighting, and choreography were brilliantly done, and you could feel the joy radiating from the stage. Watching my son fully engaged made it all the more special. Act 3: Coffee and Dessert. The desserts were decadent--two types of chocolate delights. My son and I went halvesies on both, a perfect sweet ending to the evening. What really sets this place apart is its purpose. You're not just seeing a show; you're supporting something meaningful--an inclusive and empowering space that celebrates ability in a truly unique and beautiful way. Equity, inclusion, and diversity are not just buzzwords here. They're lived values, visible both on stage and behind the scenes in a way that feels authentic and inspiring. Nostalgic 90s glitz. For the meal we had the chicken supreme and the salmon. They had the same sides of green beans, honey carrots, and mash potatoes. The salmon was a generous portion, perfectly cooked and buttery. The chicken was also a nice portion, tender, juicy, with a beautiful gravy that was slightly sweetened (we guessed with pear syrup?). It was a good and delicious plate. Salad starter had a nice light vinaigrette. They offer a vegetarian and a kids dish as well. Service is friendly and very talented. They could improve on bringing the food out per table, as the salmon came out first and the chicken last. I waited so we could eat together and my food was cold by then. The show was delightful and upbeat. We were impressed by the design and choreography. It was a good time and we laughed out loud. Great family entertainment, as long as the littlest ones aren't afraid of the dark. They are a nonprofit and a wonderful community organization. Please tip generously! I ended up receiving some free tickets to this show and I had 0 clue what this was about. I thought I was going to a magic show...turns out it was a dinner and a black light show which turned out to be pretty fun and unique experience! For dinner we had the steak and chicken the service was really good. The servers are all great and they even went around telling people why they loved working there so much. It was touching ane very nice to see so much joy in all of their faces. After dinner we moved on to the theatre to watch a Black Light show which is a show that used puppets that glowed in the black light. It went along with the music and there was dancing and some really unique acts they performed. Overall, we enjoyed this experience and it was nice to see a live show with a great dinner. read more

For 70 bucks for dinner and entertainment this is a steal! Its a must do if you are in Toronto esp if you have little kids or have never experienced black light theatre. Had a fabulous time at dinner and show. Chose steak which was perfectly medium rare with green beans and mashed potatoes. From the time you enter the place, you are welcome as an honoured guest. Very personal interaction with staff. Show was fabulous and I reminisced on my youth 53 years ago. Dessert was very good two and hope I can sleep tonight as I had coffee but when I can't sleep, I can just think of the wonderful time I had tonight. We went to Famous People's Players on Saturday night and had a great time! The food was great, the show amazing and atmosphere wonderful. When I googled the location of Famous People Place I wondered about what to expect, a bleak warehouse? Crammed restaurant? The opposite is true! The restaurant was spacious and warm and inviting and yet finely decorated at the same time. I loved all the pictures of famous people on the walls. The dinner is on a schedule so you have to show up on time but as long as you're not late then you won't feel rushed. The salad was delicious and steak was good (and I do not usually eat steak!). The theater was intimate. And the highlight of the night was the show. It was so unique and fun and even at some times touchings. It's hard to describe so I recommend going and seeing yourself. What makes this experience even better is knowing the good that this company does. Everyone involved in this dinner theater (cooks, waiters, performers) are mentally challenged or autistic and this show gives everyone a chance to showcase their talents. Absolutely amazing! I saw the holiday show at Famous People's Players this past weekend with my family and had a terrific time. The food was excellent and the show was amazing! The performers completely disappear into the darkness, bringing the beautiful prop characters to life. I didn't know much about the performance ahead of time, and was very happy we went. To learn that much of the staff and performers are people with disabilities made it all the more incredible. read more
