Reading the review above, which is a year old, this has either gone downhill or switched management.
Okay, the good thing is I only paid £6.00 to have my nails done.
I looked at the price list as I passed, the prices and services they were offering looked reasonable compared with past experience, and so I went in on a whim.
That was my first mistake. Never EVER do anything like this on a whim.
I explained that I had been ill and my hands and nails needed a bit of T.L.C. that I wanted a really natural look, and that I have a weak nail that breaks and so could she put a nail tip on that one to bring it up to the same length as the others.
She ignored that and instead of consulting with me properly about what she intended to do she trimmed all my nails down to the length of the weak one. In other words, now they are all too short. Then she filed them so roughly that I was afraid the weak one would split, and looking at them now they are uneven lengths and lopsided.
Next I expected that she would take off my old nail polish (which admittedly was matt and natural) and perhaps tidy up my cuticles. I did tell her that I was wearing nail polish but she did not listen or seem to understand, her colleague who was sitting next to us doing nothing sort of giggled vaguely, and instead she began putting the new polish on after giving my nails a very quick smooth off with a buffer and my hands a wipe.
I had not been given the opportunity to wash my hands before she began and so I ended up feeling grubby, with my cuticles as dry as when I had gone in, my nails too short and with two thick layers of cheap polish that stank, as cheap polish often does.
All the while I was having my nails done the manicurist kept stopping to answer her mobile phone. She explained it was her boyfriend pestering her but it didn't occur to her to switch the damn thing off, and she even left it propped up so she could read texts while she was working on me. She also managed to get manicurists finishing spray all over my jeans.
I didn't feel at pampered by my visit, but instead l left with the overall feeling that I had just paid for something I could have done myself at home and much better. The manicure I had seen on the price list and that I expected wasn't even offered and so I am guessing that the two members of staff on duty were trainees and not qualified beyond painting nails. If this is the norm then I am frightened, and I would certainly never risk any of the more advanced treatments they have on offer.
Next stop, nail polish remover, cuticle cream, moisturiser and an emery noard to try and undo the damage. I'm never going back. No way. read more
