This public coop market/farmers market/cafe was a long time coming, but worth the wait. Besides…read moreartisan breads, a butcher shop and various local meats and dairy, there is also a great cafe, with a buffet option for two meals a day. For our last visit, we had grilled sandwiches, and shared a table with some interesting ladies from the area who were able to help fill in our memories of long-gone local businesses. Before that, we attended the evening buffet, feasting on all-you-can-eat crab legs, steak, pork, chicken, and all the accompaniments. For $11.95 each! Try it, and you'll see what I mean...great food, great people, great place to eat.

Stopped by the farmers market on a Saturday morning. Also went in the public market for the first…read moretime. Not impressed. There was only a handful of vendors at the farmers market. Selling flowers, a few vegetables and hand made decorations. Nothing real great. The grounds they have it on are beautiful and well maintained. The public market was a dump. Poorly lit. We weren't greeted upon arrival. They had a large seating area for meals and had a buffet up but everything was covered by big tin pans. There was no one eating. There is a partition in the big space separating the eating area from a little grocery store like area. The "market" area was poorly stocked and had minimal product. Most items were empty. They had a few local items but most was just stuff you'd find in a normal grocery store with a higher price tag. There was a container of strawberries in the cooler priced at $12.99 and was full of mold. My husband and son went to use the restroom. He said it was absolutely disgusting. There were two sinks in the restroom and neither had running water. The floor was covered in dried and wet urine. Won't be back. Ever.

Their grocery dept is amazing but the meat department is lacking. in the morning nearly all they…read moremen there stand around talking and wait for the like one girl to help us. the guys in the grey shirts are very rude. every time I go in they pretend not to see me standing and wait for someone else to help me. the grey shirt men wont stop what they're doing to help unless there's a crowd of us. they might be managers. I dunno. they sure ride they employees asses like it. one was snapping at the others then finally reluctantly helps me and when were done he's like "what else" like I'm pissing him off. I say "I think i'm good" and he says "feel free to change your mind." like wtf? the prices are ok but they need to treat they employees better. I felt for them. it just felt tense like they was walking on eggshells. the bosses need to jump in and help and stop snipping on everyone. but yeah the grocery people were very helpful and friendly and helped me find what I needed.

This review is mainly about the meat department. Top rated service all the way around. Whenever I…read morego home to Iowa, I always bring a suitcase of meat back to TX. The brats are the best ever! They are homemade with the most perfect amount of seasoning. They grill up perfectly with a fabulous snap. The breaded pork tenderloins are great for quick dinners. You can't get breaded pork tenderloins in TX so those are a big treat. The pork cutlets are the most tender flavorful pieces of meat I have ever had. Also impossible to get in TX. I love to do a home cooked meal with them adding a side of mashed tators and some green beans, yum. As much as II love the local Hy-Vee stores, you just can't beat Fairway for meat selection and quality. It's like going to an old fashion butcher shop.
