Wow, have they ever updated the place. They knocked down the old building a few years ago and…read morerebuilt it about 4 years ago, now. Clean, modern, and a little strange walking in here. Children's section on the main floor, along with administrative, and a spot for you if you want to buy/donate old books (Friends of Fargo Bookstore) - cheap $1/book kind of deals, and great to get rid of old textbooks and such, too. I do miss the little reading aloves in the old library, the stairs up to a hidden teen section, and the openness of the two-story open adult section of the old library, but it is good they built it up - second floor is adult and young adult sections, and a large new computer room and print stations, as well as a "teen-only" room. Lots of glass and comfort there, not sure how energy-efficient, though. Extra classrooms and reading rooms for the kids downstairs, some Indian print art displayed, and a little candy/drinks bar up front. New, yes, but I am sad I didn't get a chance to take pictures of the old place. Many a summer spent in the reading program here competing for small prizes and adding pages to the tally for our schools! All the pictures on this post are of the new library.

If you need a quiet place for work, you might not want to come here because sound travels pretty far. Try the main library or the quiet rooms in Carlson instead. If you don't mind others talking while you're working, then you should like this library.

And it appears to get good use by the people of the community as well, as there's usually a good number of people there. On the downside I wish they were open on Sundays during the summer.

It's very clean with a community room that holds events on a regular basis. I even got a library card. It looks like there is a good size collection of DVDs. The card catalog is online of course. There is a very good staff here that is highly motivated, since they did sign me up for a card for the first time since I was a kid. Until I explore the collection more I can only say that there is more new stuff than there are old books.

The customer was on a phone call and was not being disruptive whatsoever, but the woman snapped at her "You can take your phone call outside and come back when you're done." Excuse me? I dont know any store owner who would speak to a customer this way when they weren't being disruptive and had barely walked inside. The owner was incredibly rude, condescending, belittling and acted with a "better than you" attitude. Its a BOOKSTORE, not her own personal sacred library collection. There are plenty of other bookstores out there where the owner isnt an a******. I'll never go back.

I needed to visit a Barnes & Noble store to pick up a tote bag as part of my Premium membership. I decided to take a break from driving and visit this bookstore in Fargo. This B&N is huge! It may be the largest one that I have ever been to. This store is in a plaza, with a Walgreens across from it. I found a parking spot in a rather busy plaza. I backed into it and walked in. There was a lot of merchandise that was cool and different. Boogie Board has Sketch Pals for kids, which looked both durable and fun to doodle on. I tend to find cool gifts at B&N. My best friend likes The Office. I found the perfect The Office-themed gift for her here. I like desk calendars. I didn't get one here, but it was tempting. Peanuts. Cats. Dad jokes. There is something for everyone. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping for me items until my last day in the States. I did get a couple of nice items here. One was a penguin hot/cold pack. I love penguins. I love practical items. This one was perfect. You put this pack in the freezer for cold, which works nicely. I have yet to try the hot option, which is to boil it. I like glass water bottles. I travel with a glass one that has a straw, but I don't have one that is leakproof. I found a nice one at this store that has a frosted look to it and is sturdy. There's a huge cafe at the back of this store. I'd like to sit there, sip on a drink and enjoy a pastry while reading a book. I didn't have that luxury. Maybe I'll do that when I am heading down to the Twin Cities next time. I got to the checkout and had a friendly woman help with my purchases. It was weird dealing with her, as I had given my phone number associated with my membership and having her repeat my phone number seemed to be difficult. I then said that I was here to pick up my tote bag. It was almost as if she didn't hear me. She said that I could get a tote bag. Um, that's what I said. I already own the black one. I went with green because it was Minnesota Wild green. She asked if I needed a plastic bag. I said that it was okay if she put all my items in the tote bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left with my goods. My tote bag was large enough to house my purse and I used it has my personal item when I flew back to Winnipeg. This tote is perfect for travel. It has one pocket that I use for my passport and NEXUS card. The other side pocket stores my cell phone. The main part of the tote held my purse, Grogu Squishmallow, a bag of peanuts with shells, and a lot more. I love it. This store is awesome. I'd love to drop by and spend more time here next time.
