Tip: If you have a Premium membership, you get some nice perks, including a tote bag and 15% off your order. I was driving from Minneapolis to Winnipeg last Monday. I needed to visit a Barnes & Noble store to pick up a tote bag as part of my Premium membership. I decided to take a break from driving and visit this bookstore in Fargo. This B&N is huge! It may be the largest one that I have ever been to. This store is in a plaza, with a Walgreens across from it. I found a parking spot in a rather busy plaza. I backed into it and walked in. There was a lot of merchandise that was cool and different. Boogie Board has Sketch Pals for kids, which looked both durable and fun to doodle on. I tend to find cool gifts at B&N. My best friend likes The Office. I found the perfect The Office-themed gift for her here. I like desk calendars. I didn't get one here, but it was tempting. Peanuts. Cats. Dad jokes. There is something for everyone. I didn't do a whole lot of shopping for me items until my last day in the States. I did get a couple of nice items here. One was a penguin hot/cold pack. I love penguins. I love practical items. This one was perfect. You put this pack in the freezer for cold, which works nicely. I have yet to try the hot option, which is to boil it. I like glass water bottles. I travel with a glass one that has a straw, but I don't have one that is leakproof. I found a nice one at this store that has a frosted look to it and is sturdy. There's a huge cafe at the back of this store. I'd like to sit there, sip on a drink and enjoy a pastry while reading a book. I didn't have that luxury. Maybe I'll do that when I am heading down to the Twin Cities next time. I got to the checkout and had a friendly woman help with my purchases. It was weird dealing with her, as I had given my phone number associated with my membership and having her repeat my phone number seemed to be difficult. I then said that I was here to pick up my tote bag. It was almost as if she didn't hear me. She said that I could get a tote bag. Um, that's what I said. I already own the black one. I went with green because it was Minnesota Wild green. She asked if I needed a plastic bag. I said that it was okay if she put all my items in the tote bag. I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. I thanked her and left with my goods. My tote bag was large enough to house my purse and I used it has my personal item when I flew back to Winnipeg. This tote is perfect for travel. It has one pocket that I use for my passport and NEXUS card. The other side pocket stores my cell phone. The main part of the tote held my purse, Grogu Squishmallow, a bag of peanuts with shells, and a lot more. I love it. This store is awesome. I'd love to drop by and spend more time here next time. The last 3 or 4 times I've been in they have been absolutely terrible at helping. It's been a bunch of young girls for a while now, and they all think they are better than you. But they aren't. They're just insufferable children. Just go to the library. That's where the respectable book people can be found. These weirdos have some gatekeepers syndrome or something. read more

Barnes & Noble Bookstore - Bookstores Near Me - Fargo, North Dakota

I'm noticing that other commenters are writing that B&N has great customer service, and I'll start off my review by saying yup, I agree. Never have I had any issues with the staff. Everyone is friendly and helpful; the Cafe is always well stocked and I enjoy getting some coffee here, but it is a little small and can be cramped when people want to spread out with their homework and laptops. And I really respect that they put local authors' works out front, too. The Ghosts of North Dakota book always gets me! The kid's section is nice as well. It's nice to go here as a family and be able to find something for everybody, and they have some cool toys that young kids (or kids at heart) would be interested in looking at. A few times I've been here, though, the credit card machines have been down. It's weird... I'm not sure why they wouldn't have some type of backup system. I was told I had to pay in cash, and, well, like most people these days, I don't really carry much on me. So there have been a few times when I've gone in and chosen some books, only to have to place them back on the shelves and go home. This also affected the cafe, so I was coffeeless, too. It was a bad Sunday. All in all, even though it's a big-chain store, B&N really does a good job keeping the feeling friendly and local. I actually love this store. The atmosphere is very relaxing and stress free. The Starbucks makes it a great place also. They have every book that you could ask for and even more. They even have coloring books! There educational books are also very helpful too. I bought an act prep book there and studied off of it and it boosted my score 5 points! The customer service in both in the bookstore and cafe are wonderful. We go to Barnes and Noble at least once a week. Even if we do not buy anything, we always stop and have a coffee in the cafe. The selection of books is great. I purchased the Nook and NookColor; I use it more for reference since I buy 99% of my books for my Nook. There is something wonderful about walking about the store and picture up a book to read the back and browse through it. My favorite section is the magazines. I love the wide variety they carry especially the books from UK and Australia, as they have for cooking, scrapbooking, and quilting. It is a nice place to unwind and relax. read more

I go here at least a couple times a month. It has a great selection and delicious treats in the cafe. I took off one star because they don't have any places to sit outside of the cafe, nor are there any outlets available. read more

I called the store twice they said the magazine was in. I stopped by the store in the afternoon and it was still not stocked on the shelf and they did not offer to help to look for it in the back room. Will avoid this store and only use as a last resort read more

Barnes & Noble has been my "bookstore of choice" since I lived in NYC, & luckily there has been one in every town I've lived in since then - always near my home / other spots I like to shop - so it's always convenient! For most part this place is great and has some friendly cafe staff. I am not a fan of how they recently closed all the electric outlets because and piled more than enough tables in the Café. When I asked their management why they did this, they responded and said they were no different from going to a restaurant like TGI Fridays. The reason for them doing so apparently was to stop people from staying too long but buy food and keep going. I would give them 5 stars like most Barnes and Nobles I have been too but unfortunately this was a bad call, so now they come up short. read more

This should be a top notch review as BNNoble cookie cutter building are stellar. I have been in stores from east to west coast. Having been born in fargo moorhead when folks ask where are the friendliest best folks. Fargo moorhead every time. I have to say at the Barnes and noble the staff is hurting that reputation of Fargo Moorhead as well as the company they work for. my bet sales down big all because of staff in fargo store. Executives should review this staff offer 50% pay cuts to current staff. If management is present at all they are sleeping! Myself and another I know both have called store requested inventory oh yes we have that. Both of us said will be right there. Get there to find they did not have what they said so friend went to desk and asked lady to look up book we have never had that? Maybe it's in shipment. That is not unpacked. We will be back later. 2 days not un packed 5 days not unpacked yet and now not sure it's even in those boxes. Could you look it up? She walked away rolled her eyes said whatever. New gal steps up to help older lady next to us who asked for a book gal points at shelf and tells lady to turn around it's right there. Now this customer I would say 80's using a walker goes past that shelf gal screams lady stop turn it's right there rolls her eyes and grabs a note pad and pen? As the lady continues to walk away from sales lady. Sales still yelling at lady to stop and now turn around shaking her head. I walked to the lady and said excuse me good afternoon I believe I heard sales girl telling you where to find what you are looking for? Maybe I could just show you? What are you looking for? I helped her to the shelf retrieved her book she was looking for flip my eyes to sales gal. Yep you got it rolling her eyes. I order my book on line from another source I recommend you do the same. Shopping at this store and supporting this staffs salaries is just not right. Barnes and Noble executives wake up. Visit this store if you don't your board should review you. Degrading guests is shameful on the face of it. When they are also your paycheck it's an embarrassment. Simply and totally unexpected visits at this store. Lots of work needs to be done with the folks here. Lots of these folks Good news is I will drive 4.5 hours to a good Barnes and noble in Twin Cities fargo folks do not lose hope there are lots of good Barnes and Noble stores just not in Fargo. read more
