I am a beginner surfer and have been looking for a wetsuit and a board for a while. I've been to most surf shops on the island and I always end up coming back to Farias in Ship Bottom. In terms of wetsuits they had the largest brand selection and size selection on the island and had very reasonable prices for the name brands. I ended up finding an xcel suit that fit me better than any others I could find. In terms of boards they only carry new boards and a small selection of used boards unlike other shops on the island that have a lot of used boards, but they are reasonably and I ended up getting a new torq board for cheaper then any used boards I could find at other shops. Brian helped me on multiple occasions, from trying on wetsuits to find the right board for me. He is extremely down to earth and knowledgeable about everything and has your best interests at heart. read more

Have been going to Farias surf shop for decades- tells you how old I am! Ha! Great selection of anytime of board (surf, skim, boogie, stand-up or skate). My three sons have all bought Beater boards (soft-top surf board) and used them until they became water logged (about 4 summers of constant use). The staff is amazing- Stacy & Brian are the best owners taking up what Vince & Michelle started. Two of the surf board specialists (Connor & Zach) helped me learn which boards are best for my son based upon their ages, skill and the waves. Great shop with the best people. Family owned and operated and it shows. Great selection of new boards,clothing and accessories. Not only are they committed to the community they are committed to the environment with all kinds of brands and gear that is eco friendly and reusable. These guys are so committed they even have a water filtration system in the store so that you can fill up your new yeti or hydro flask for life... I went today with my son to get a wetsuit and the staff is always so helpful and knowledgeable (and patient -- if you ever took a teenager shopping for a wetsuit...). Not to mention the merchandise is always so well edited and displayed. Love that it's a family business with such strong LBI roots. Definitely need to stop on every visit. read more

I'm a little surprised no one has reviewed Faria's yet...There are a bunch of different Faria's across the island. It's actually a cool shop - very good selection and the prices are pretty reasonable. They have a very good sunglass and sandal selection here. The only minor knock I have on this place is that they do not carry a lot of size 13/14 shoes/sandals. I do know that it's not the most popular size, but I just wish they had a better selection there. Oh well - you can't win them all. If surfing/skating is your thing, they also have a ton to choose from there, as well. Tons of surfboards on the 2nd level of the store and all the employees are pretty helpful. read more

Customer service is not dead- it's at Farias! love love this place. always the best selection of clothes and gear plus they have the best promotions with the surf companies. by far my kids favorite place on our summer trips to LBI, we usually ending up going there about 4 times during the week we stay o the Island. read more
