I feel like the instructor could've been a bit friendlier, and the roads are not marked. Definitely practice in this area before taking the test or there's a likely chance you will fail. read more

Really awful service, I realize people work here because they don't have the ability or motivation to get......another job but that doesn't give them the right to be so incredibly rude, especially when completely unprovoked. I just called to ask an innocent question and was immediately berated for not knowing the answer already. Apparently the permit testing station has moved so recently that they don't yet have a telephone number, and she made several demeaning remarks, not to mention a condescending tone and theatrically slow speech, about how I should have known their location, hours and order of operations already. I took my driver's test, and was failed solely on "stopping for too long at a stop sign and being overly cautious". I was so distraught by it that I checked the MN DMV Handbook online and learned that it was not listed as a cause for an automatic fail. I went to another place with a reasonable instructor shortly after and passed with flying colors. I have a friend (who is also a poc) who had a similar experience with this DMV despite being an excellent driver. I genuinely believe that the examiner failed me based on my age and the color of my skin, and looked for an excuse to not grant me my license. Needless to say, don't go here. read more

DO NOT go here. I just took my test here. The lady was nice at the desk (to begin with) I went out to my car and waited. The guy came into the car and moved the seat all the way back (crushing what was behind the seat because I had a bag back there). We were doing parking and he was yelling at me. We went into the roads and I got yelled at when I clarified if I needed to make a turn or not. We were on a 2 way and he was not paying attention and this lady was stopped at the intersection and I went and he SCREAMED at me. Made me pull over on the side of a busy road to do uphill and downhill parking. He wasn't paying attention half of the time. He deserves to lose his job. Went in and told the lady at the desk and she said it was ok he was yelling (to a 16 year old no). Go elsewhere. Fairbult deserves to run out of business. read more

This location is simply awful! This place needs an overhaul by the state, it's old, outdated, and it has extremely belligerent staff members that demean you the moment you walk in the door. The Staff bark orders at you immediately when you come in the door, not one "Hello, How can I help you today?" When is it wrong to ask this statement to customers, NEVER!! Then they feel free to shout at you to "give me your paperwork, and then go wait outside." So before you even get out the door to do your test your feeling horrible, to the point where you feel like you are set-up to fail. Instructors come waddling out, don't even greet prospective drivers ready to take the test, they too begin to bark orders. Not one instructor had the courtesy to say "Hi I am Joe Driver, and I will be your instructor" - again no interpersonal skills or professionalism. At the completion of a road exam, instructors do not clearly state the details of questionable incidents that may have occurred during the road test, each instructor has their own rules and makes up new "rules of the road" to go by, such as drivers can't use your camera for doing a 90 degree back in. Nowhere in the driver's manual does it state that you CANNOT use your camera. Also, instructors encourage drivers to pull out in front of oncoming traffic, not wait. As you can tell, they do not have the updated education or tools to do their job as efficiently and respectfully as they should to encourage safe driving habits. This location is in dire need of updates all around, and not just talking about the building, but the people are extremely outdated in their learnings, their customer service skills seriously lacking. It is highly recommended that a state leader come in and evaluate not only what they are doing, but how they are doing it, and why they need to be more positive towards all people who come through their doors and in their vehicles. Education is truly needed here at all levels for this staff, otherwise, they will continue to conduct negative business processes, instruction, and testing that will continue to NOT meet expectations, and will only continue to produce negative reviews. read more

Yesterday, 05/22/2018, I took my daughter here to take her driving test as all the ones in the cities were booked. Many people made negative comments. The wife and her read many negative comments. After our experience yesterday I can only tell you one thing. Before blaming an entire business of being the problem look in the mirror. They were courteous. Conscientious of our time (they got us in 45 minutes early). And were extremely helpful and friendly. From the clerk at the counter for the tests, the driving examiner, to the Deputy Registrar. We couldn't have had a better experience, more friendly encounter and prompt polite service. Maybe the reason they get so many bad reviews by future drivers, and parents, is because they actually do a good job at evaluating your shortcomings and keeping the rest of us safe from ill equipped drivers. Maybe your son or daughter failed because they are bad at driving? Maybe you failed because you simply suck as a driver? Maybe we should all thank them for keeping us safe and not letting bad drivers on the road just because people think its a right not the true privilege it is to be allowed to drive on the public roadways! ? I thank them all and my daughter passed on her first try! And we were given a great explanation as to why she passed and what she still needs to work on. So yes I know my kid isn't perfect and appreciate the information on what she still needs to work on. Clearly they were not major issues to the public's safety. Maybe yours were? read more

Stay Away!!!!!!!!!! My daughter and I went for her driving skills test and were treated so rudely by one examiner. Literally he walked in and said, "next", we stood up and walked towards the desk he said to me, "you can sit down I only want to talk to her (my daughter)." I said okay, I just want to ask you which insurance verification you want and he said "I only want that, I don't need that and sit down, I want to ask her questions without you." He did not ask her any question other then, what color is your car and then he said go sit in it and wait for me. He did not say hello to either of us, he did not ask my daughter her name or introduce himself. After he walked out the rest of the waiting area was talking about how incredibly rude he was to everyone. At the end of the day, there is no excuse to treat people like that or to treat kids trying to get their license with such disrespect. The other man giving skills test was very friendly and actually spoke to the parent and child in the process. He behaved the same way during her test, barking orders and never once asked her her name. Horrible service, go somewhere else, or pray you don't get him for your test. read more
