My wife and I own a Kioti tractor, which we are happy with. We started experiencing and issue with the unit with it not completely engaging the clutch causing it to barely move and also with the brakes sticking. Our tractor is still under the 5 yr powertrain warranty so we took it to Rivera's Machinery, Inc. over in Donna Texas. We dropped it off and received a call from them a few days later informing us that they would need to "break it open" to see what the issue was. They also stated that it would "probably NOT be covered" by the warranty because it looked as if two areas were not greased. That seemed odd to me but after speaking with the service department head I was looking at around an $8,000 or more repair bill by the time everything was finished. As I said the whole thing seemed odd to me so I elected to pick it up, which irritated them. They still charged me $120 to basically look at it. My wife picked the unit up and I took it to a friend who repairs tractors. I explained to him what happened and he, knowing pretty much everyone in the area that works on tractors just kinda smiled and shook his head. He pulled it off the trailer drove it around and said he knows what was wrong that there should be no reason the open it up, but he would let me know. He had the tractor 3 days and called me to come pick it up as it was fixed. He said all it needed was some basic adjustments and there was NO NEED to break it open, but the clutch would need a repair in the next 2 or 3 years. He even found a couple of things that needed attention and took care of those as well. He also had a hydraulic hose made and replaced as it was leaking. Total cost of the repair was around $600. For Rivera's Machinery, Inc. to look at it for less than an hour and make the determination that they "had to break it open" shows either the incompetence of their service department or shadiness of their business practices. Either way I will not be visiting them EVER again.
