It's always great tasting fresh produce by the locals, today I had the chance to walk around and buy a few bits and pieces from honey to jams and nuts however the big winner for me was the octopus! Oh my oh my! I can't think of anything that comes remotely close to how good this tasted! You can get a sampler size but don't waste your time! You'd regret not getting the large! You get a free shot of ouzo with it too! Which really compliments it! Oh and the oysters were the best I've ever had! It's a nice way to meet the locals and everyone is so friendly! Love love loved it!

This Sunday farm market in Hobart's CBD is a very vibrant market. There are lots of produce stands, various pastries, raw oysters, different ethnic food, and local items, and coffee stands. I wish I could have tasted everything, but we only got to try few things. If I lived here I would be here every Sunday. read more

Farm Gate Market, located in the heart of Hobart on Bathurst Street, is a weekly Sunday market with Tasmanian produce, artisanal products, and food trucks. Established in 2009, the market was born out of a vision by founder Madi Peattie, who sought to connect local farmers directly with the community. The market began as a small gathering of farmers and food producers but quickly grew in popularity as both locals and tourists appreciated the quality and variety of goods available. Today, it is home to a diverse range of vendors offering everything from organic fruits and vegetables to Tasmanian honey, cheeses, fresh seafood, baked goods, and more. We strolled through stalls and chatted with friendly vendors eager to share the stories behind their products, and enjoy samples of local favorites. We found... Mother of Pearl Sweeties and this is a must-visit for cookie lovers. We tried the red velvet cheesecake cookie, and let me tell you, it was perfection! The cookie itself had that classic red velvet flavor, rich but not too sweet, with a beautiful, creamy cheesecake filling in the center. It was just the right balance of flavors--soft, a little decadent, and so satisfying. I could easily have eaten ten of these. If you're in Hobart and at the market, do yourself a favor and pick one up! read more

In the last year, Farm Gate relocated to their new spot along Bathurst St. Literally along the street, between Murray and Elizabeth, the block gets shut down for the day to accommodate the market. I'm sad to say I like their old stuff better than their new stuff... Bathurst St is a bit of a wind tunnel. On windy days (read: every other day in Hobart) the wind shreds right through the market. And the vibe just isn't quite the same. But there's still plenty of amazing fresh produce and delicious treats (breakfast or otherwise). It's still my preferred market over that touristy business that happens on Saturdays. Go to Farm Gate! Eat a doughnut and a bagel and a brownie and drink coffee or hot chocolate that sometimes has delicious bonus flavours in it! Just DO IT! read more

An awesome little market with a variety of fresh. Antioxidants as far as you can see. Vegetables, flowers - your typical market fare. This market also has a range of excellent market food. I came for second breakfast. A wallaby burrito. A great place to explore the local flavour. read more

We were down last weekend and unfortunately arrived a little later than usual (around noon) which is when most of the vendors start to think about packing up. However those that were still around had a great range of foods and were very friendly. There are plenty of organic fruits and bakers, plus a little alley full of food vendors which was cool. We tried a range of things - Korean steam buns filled with noodles and veges, brownies with Tassie walnuts and ginger but we were too late for the bagels. Next time! read more

It is a rare Sunday indeed when I'm not here for breakfast (even if at times 'breakfast' has just squeaked in before the 1 pm close. . .). Great for fresh produce, but I LOVE the coffee and am addicted to the BLT. My husband is a connoisseur of the Vink burger, a lamb and beetroot burger. read more

Salamanca was the largest market and extended from the entrance by St. David's Park, past Parliament and the Tasman Memorial and ended nearby the Blue Eye Seafood. The market was already bustling and busy when we walked through at 9:30am which was just one hour after the start. This was the largest concentration of people in Hobart we saw during our stay. We saw lots of local Tasmania crafted products, batch distilleries, fresh produce, and a variety of food offerings like scallop pies, burgers and other cuisines. Most were setup under tents but a few food trucks and trailers also. Overall popular for locals and visitors and a good experience to add while in Hobart.
