I originally popped in to use an ATM but their's was broken. I had a little cash and went on a snack attack run for the ages. Spicy peanuts, chips, these strange knock off Twinkies... they were all mine. But what sort of disappointed me was their lack of refrigeration. None of their waters or beers were cold at all and it didn't seem like they'd been working in some time (it was really, really warm in the fridge). They also lacked some essentials (suntan lotion being one), but hey - I guess it's been a busy time over here. It's not one of those pharmacies that you can buy illegal Cialis pills or other narcotics, but if you need aspirin from one too many cervezas to the dome (like I did) or a Band Aid from diving into beach sand and skinning your knee (something else I did), then it's a life saver. They also sell real Mexican Coke here in the mini bottles for a quick indulgence. From saving a bloodied knee to offering up my favorite soda ever, Plaza la Fiesta Farmacia gets two thumbs up.

This is one of the pharmacies we checked out that had some of the items we were looking for. However, as the name implies, they mainly carry generic drugs with names we were not familiar with. When asked if they had certain products we were interested in, they only had alternative brands, so we couldn't be sure if they would sufficiently be a helpful remedy.

During my visit, a man named Mike, wearing a Walmart name tag, approached us inside the store and offered what he claimed was an official Walmart promotion: * 6 round-trip ferry tickets to Isla Mujeres * A full-day golf cart rental * Lunch on the island * Hotel pickup All for USD $120, with a $30 deposit. He repeatedly assured us that he worked for Walmart, not any resort, and that it was NOT a timeshare sales pitch. However, later that night he messaged us saying the pickup would be changed to 8:00 AM so he could take us to another resort for breakfast -- something we never agreed to. When we insisted on sticking to the original 9:30 AM plan, he showed up the next morning and again pressured us to go to the resort to attend a 1.5-hour presentation, which was obviously a timeshare scheme. When we refused, he told us the trip was canceled and that our $30 deposit was being kept by his "boss." He then claimed we would have to return to Walmart to get it back. Before we could even discuss it further, he jumped onto a bus and disappeared. This was misrepresentation, dishonesty, and a clear scam -- all happening inside Walmart premises, by someone wearing a Walmart name badge. I am requesting: 1. Walmart Cancun to investigate how scammers are operating inside your store while appearing to be legitimate staff. 2. The resort involved to take responsibility for using deceptive tactics to lure tourists into timeshare presentations. 3. A refund of the $30 deposit that was taken under false pretenses. 4. Measures to ensure this does not happen to other visitors. Tourists should feel safe inside a well-known retailer like Walmart -- not targeted by scammers pretending to be staff. The second floor is half alcohol. There is also a bar where you can get an alcoholic beverage while you shop! And, oh, yes, there is a deli with hot & cold meal offerings you can take onto their outside patio to eat overlooking the lagoon! Best kept secret in Cancun! They do custom birthday cakes on the second floor, too, so no need to pay exhorbitant hotel prices to celebrate a loved one's special day! Entire cakes here are $17-$20! Definitely bring your own shopping bag & be prepared to tip the bagger a few coins at checkout. You can pay by card or even US dollars, but change is in Mex pesos. Great place!

A tub of mango, pineapple, or watermelon was only two dollars each! They also had a lot of baked goods that looked yummy and a small food court. I grabbed some crepe mix, vanilla and much needed floss. Total was 55 pesos for all three items which is super affordable. Staff seemed nice but they provide any bags. Much better deals than the hotel gift shop if you forgot something.
